...As the name would rather obviously suggest this is a magazine dedicated to the carp angler. A weekly publication, it brings you all the lastest news and views on anything to do with tracking down and catching this beautiful fish. Like most dedicated magazines specialising in a particular subject it goes quite in depth in some areas but it is a reccommended read to the serious angler. Features such as the News Round-up are particularly useful to keep up to date with the latest methods, trends and happenings in the world of carp fishing. I find the Catchlines section an interesting read as you get to see some of the large fish caught by anglers country wide together with a write up about where and how they caught their quarry. A section on the latest baits and a column by their regular columnist Simon Crow further enhance this...

Review of Carp Talk

What a load of Carp!

Advantages: It's less than an hour in length and cheap.
Disadvantages: Too many to mention.

...In this dvd Bob Nudd, with the aid of very bad editing, manages to ruin what could have been a great instructional aid to anglers who want to pursue this fine art of catching tench and carp on the long pole. The techniques and rigs shown are relavant however the sequence that each is explained is extreemly disjointed. It was like watching a dvd with shuttle turned-on on your dvd player. You never knew what would be explained next. This was obviously a first attempt at making such a film.....and it shows. Oscar Wilde's obsession with books

Advantages: Full of fascinating information about Wilde's life and love of books
Disadvantages: None really, except maybe best enjoyed by those with some prior knowledge of Wilde

In Pursuit of Carp and Catfish

Advantages: Very entertaining and well presented
Disadvantages: some what dated now

...In pursuit of carp and catfish is written by well known carp and catfish angler Kevin Maddocks and is published by Beekay publishers limited. Kevin reflects on the outstanding memories of his last 15 uears of fishing( bare in mind the book was originally published in 1986) Although carp angling and indeed catfishing has moved on a lot since the book was written, i always find it an enjoyable read and it also gives an insight into early carp fishing days. Kevin goes through from his first ever carp capture to his first twenty pound carp and some of the famous venues he has fished including Redmire. The book starts with a photo gallery of some of the many fish that Kevin has caught. Each page is beautifully decorated with amazing pictures not just of fish but of birds and animals as well. Disadvantages: A little difficult to adjust to the changing style of writing

...Amazing! I have read all of Terry Pratchett's books as they have come out and I have to say that this was a refreshing (if not unwarranted) change from the Ankh Morpork storylines. Agnes was wonderful as a young women torn with frustation and angst at herself and the hilarious Perditta as her alter ego determined to drag Agnes kicking and screaming into herself. I would recommend this book to anyone who relishes smirking on buses as they read it! The storyline is fast moving and characters develop quickly - I still can't get the image of poor Scraps out of my mind!...

Tweenies Book

Disadvantages: none unless your child wants you to read it about 10 times a day

...I got this book from a book club for my eldest and now my youngest likes to look at it. It's a hard back book with each page inside being double thin card so that the pull out pictures are fitted in the middle of them. The book is called 'Come Back Colours' because Doodles (The red dog) has lost its colour and so have all the Tweenies toys. The front cover has a picture of the youngest Tweenie Jake and the colourless Doodles, when you open the book you see a picture of the other Tweenies (Milo, Bella and Fizz) on the opposite page is Jake with his special cape opening his arms to the colourless Doodles. The story starts ' One day, Jake put on his special coloured cape.' His job was to look after the colours but where have Doodles colours gone? Jake comes to the rescue waves his arms and says 'Colours come and colours go...
