Cuttle Mill - Carp Fishing

Advantages: big fish, cafe, good parking, picturesque, well managed and kept
Disadvantages: Need to book and pay early and in advance

...One of the best places around for Carp Fishing is at Cuttle Mill, near Sutton Colefield, Birmingham. There are two lakes here, one being the main carp pool with 16 numbered and 6 un-numbered swims and the other a match & carp lake. The main carp pool is very well stocked with some big doubles up to 40 pounds. You need to book up early as it is on a first come first served basis. The cost is currently £14.50 per day for the main carp lake, but it is certainly worth it. Facilities are good too, with toilets and small was area, a cafe serving breakfast, lunch and dinner plus sweets, crisps and drinks. You can also buy a limited range of tackle should you find you left something behind. Sadly there is no night fishing. A beautiful setting and an excellent lake await you....

...As the name would rather obviously suggest this is a magazine dedicated to the carp angler. A weekly publication, it brings you all the lastest news and views on anything to do with tracking down and catching this beautiful fish. Like most dedicated magazines specialising in a particular subject it goes quite in depth in some areas but it is a reccommended read to the serious angler. Features such as the News Round-up are particularly useful to keep up to date with the latest methods, trends and happenings in the world of carp fishing. I find the Catchlines section an interesting read as you get to see some of the large fish caught by anglers country wide together with a write up about where and how they caught their quarry. A section on the latest baits and a column by their regular columnist Simon Crow further enhance this...

...I must start by saying that Des Taylor is an excellent angler, I have met him on several occasions whilst fishing and he always made time to have a chat and to give me a few tips on how to improve. He really is a nice bloke. That aside, this dvd isn't very good, and I believe that it shows Des to be almost an amateur, this is simply not the case in real life. Location = The venue for this dvd is Cuttle Mill Carp Fishery, which was made famous many years ago by the then owner Albert Brewer, He imported many sizeable carp, many of which were 35 to 40lb in weight. This was at the time when a 20lb fish was a real specimen. Des manages to talk about this fishery in great detail, explaining where the good pegs are. Pegs 1 to 6 are very good for night fishing however Des intends to fish during the day and so he settles...
