...As the name would rather obviously suggest this is a magazine dedicated to the carp angler. A weekly publication, it brings you all the lastest news and views on anything to do with tracking down and catching this beautiful fish. Like most dedicated magazines specialising in a particular subject it goes quite in depth in some areas but it is a reccommended read to the serious angler. Features such as the News Round-up are particularly useful to keep up to date with the latest methods, trends and happenings in the world of carp fishing. I find the Catchlines section an interesting read as you get to see some of the large fish caught by anglers country wide together with a write up about where and how they caught their quarry. A section on the latest baits and a column by their regular columnist Simon Crow further enhance this...

Review of Carp Talk

What a load of Carp!

Advantages: It's less than an hour in length and cheap.
Disadvantages: Too many to mention.

...In this dvd Bob Nudd, with the aid of very bad editing, manages to ruin what could have been a great instructional aid to anglers who want to pursue this fine art of catching tench and carp on the long pole. The techniques and rigs shown are relavant however the sequence that each is explained is extreemly disjointed. It was like watching a dvd with shuttle turned-on on your dvd player. You never knew what would be explained next. This was obviously a first attempt at making such a film.....and it shows. Total Carp - Totally the best

My Friend Mr Pellethead

Advantages: The plain stuff is very cheap. As a whole, this is a brilliant bait!!!!!
Disadvantages: Fattens fish so they look funny sometimes, can get overfed which fishery owners don't like. In fact they are banned on a fair few venues these days.

Most of you are probably still thinking about what I’m on about. I’ll start again, but in the middle. A pellet, is just that. A small pellet of protein packed oily ‘stuff’. They’re normally dark brown in colour and can be bought in many different sizes. Hey range from those of about 1mm across, up to about 12mm I think. The 1mm ones are best used for adding to groundbait, or as a feed for small fish, while the bigger ones are best for Carp etc. The good thing about pellet is that is probably one of the few baits that is actually best as a feed rather than a hook bait. ...In pursuit of carp and catfish is written by well known carp and catfish angler Kevin Maddocks and is published by Beekay publishers limited. Kevin reflects on the outstanding memories of his last 15 uears of fishing( bare in mind the book was originally published in 1986) Although carp angling and indeed catfishing has moved on a lot since the book was written, i always find it an enjoyable read and it also gives an insight into early carp fishing days. Kevin goes through from his first ever carp capture to his first twenty pound carp and some of the famous venues he has fished including Redmire. The book starts with a photo gallery of some of the many fish that Kevin has caught. Each page is beautifully decorated with amazing pictures not just of fish but of birds and animals as well. Carpe Jugulum - The witches are back!

..."Carpe Jugulum" is one of the most amusing and creative of novels to be written by Mr Pratchett. Literally straight to the throat, it is all about a family of "modern" vampires who want to take over the kingdom of Lancre governed by King Verence and his queen Magrat. What these vampires did not count on was Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, and Agnes. However hard the vampires try to take over, the witches are there to confound them. These "modern" vampires are not to be swayed with bright lights, religious symbols or masses of garlic so they are quite a force to be reckoned with. "Carpe Jugulum" will have you gasping on one page and clutching your sides because you've laughed so hard on the next. An excellent novel to be enjoyed by all Pratchett's fans....

Smelly Goldfish Pellets

Advantages: Seems to work!
Disadvantages: The look and the smell! (oh and weird dreams!)

...this! Once you've opened the bottle, you will get hit with the most disgusting smell ever! It is FOUL! It smells like goldfish pellets - REALLY nasty. It really puts you off! And if that wasn't enough, they are dark brown and look really nasty. Still, if it meant I was going to get a long, lushious sleep, I'd do it! The first night I tried it, it didn't work all that well. Maybe this is because I was lying awake thinking about it! I also had some crazy dreams! - Whether that was down to the Nytol, I can't really say. I think it might be because other nights where I have used Nytol, I do have weirder dreams than usual! The second night, it worked faster and I had a really decent, deep sleep. I still didn't want to get up in the morning though. This may have been because I'd taken Nytol quite late and I'd only had 7 hours sleep...
