...Memories of summer days and tossed green salads I was using my carrefour olive oil to cook with last night and I wondered what I could write about olive oil. The oil I am using is Huilled’olive vierge extra 1ere pression a froid Bottled for carrefour (bought in France last summer) the French means it is extra virgin olive oil from the first pressing it was pressed cold. It is the best type of olive oil. I have a litre glass bottle with golden green oil in it. Olives are tiny fruit grown on trees in countries in areas where it is warm Olive oil is made from pressing ripe olives to extract the oils. The flavour and colour, and fragrance can vary as to where the olives are grown. The best olive oils are the extra virgin oil cold pressed produced from the first pressing with 1 % acidity it is green gold...

Le Village Parisien - a great place to stay for EuroDisney

Advantages: Lovely accommodation, great faciliities, easy access to Disney - loved it!
Disadvantages: Camp shop not open all day.

...a LOT cheaper than staying in any of the Disney hotels. The campite has two pools - one small pool is just for kids and has a umbrella shower in the centre of it. It also has a bouncy castle set up next to the kids pool and my two kids (aged 8 and 6) loved jumping in the pool and then sliding all over the bouncy castle! They have tennis courts, table tennis, play area and much more. There is a kiosk by the pool which sells drinks and icecreams and you can also buy hot snacks. The camp shop isn't open very often, only for about an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, but this wasn't a problem as we visited a French supermarket called Carrefour and stocked up on grub for the week there. You can order fresh bread and/or croissants to be delivered each morning, but these have to be ordered the evening before. The evenings...

Champion supermarket

...Champion is the second largest supermarket chain in France. They are one of the Carrefour group. Champion supermarkets are also in other countries Belgium, Spain, Poland, Greece and Turkey and in South America, Argentina, Brazil. But I have only shopped in them in France. The first store opened in October 1969 in Bayeux France. Champion supermarkets are much like other large supermarkets I guess. There is a large store in Calais and Champion sell brand name items and their own label items too .They sell household items for cleaning, other household items too brushes , crockery , toiletries ,dairy products, meat fresh vegetables tinned food , chilled foods , ready made meals , frozen foods. Wine. Several familiar British goods are available Lots of things more than I remember. The items for sale are displayed fairly well...

This Vin de Pays is reasonably priced, never over 4 quid at Sainsburys or Tescos - most of what you get in this price range will be a more inferior Vin de Table. You can pick it up by the case for 1.57 Euros at Carrefour in Calais - who would dream of spending 4 quid on a bottle of wine anyway? Having said that, this stuff does have a faintly rough edge, and the label doesn't exactly scream class... I would take this round to a mate's place of an evening if I knew we were ordering a curry, but not if they were cooking something special. And I wouldn't dream of ordering it in a restaurant. The roughness can persist slightly if a second (or third) bottle happens to get opened... the higher alcohols in reds are always harder for your system to process, and can make their presence felt...

There is one huge supermarket (Carrefour) and a Tesco's Wine Store, but this is France right, so we want an authentic French shop don't we. There is also an Oddbins (Go to Carrefour OK !). ...I have seen in Spain are Carrefour, Dia, Champion, Hipercor, El Corte Ingles, OpenCor, Condis etc. Dia and Champion are owned by Carrefour, Hipercor, El Corte Ingles and OpenCor are owned by El Corte Ingles Department Stores, as is a clothing chain, Sfera. So, nearly every supermarket I have seen here is owned by another, creating 2 giants, Carrefour and El Corte Ingles. As far as I know, only Caprabo, Condis, SuperSol and Mercadona are individual firms. However, given that this is the supermarket situation in Barcelona, butchers, bakers, greengrocers and open-every-day fresh food markets are packed out and business booms as usual. It´s not the local´s attitudes that are different from the UK. They all still shop at the likes of Carrefour and El Corte Ingles. It´s the attitudes of the shopkeepers that is different. SAS Radisson hotel in Beijing

On a little piece of paper we found the forecast for the next two days and that helped us plan our activities. We were a bit concered about how to get money where we came to China. But it turns out that there was an ATM at the hotel and and ATM at the store Carrefour near by. The Carrefour shop is only a couple of minutes away and we normally went here to buy water. You can also find Pizza Hut and KFC near by :-) The room at the hotel was nice. It has tiles when you first walk in and the rest is a carpet.
