* Carry On *
Advantages: Funny , Different
Disadvantages: Not a lot
...Carry On Camping has got to be one of my favourite films. I am not usually a fan of 'old' films , so it is quite strange that I like this film. I could watch it over and over again without getting tired of it.
Carry On Camping is a British comedy film, released in the United Kingdom on May 29th 1969. It was directed by Gerald Thomas and stars Barbara Windsor (Peggy in Eastenders) and Sid James as well as a few other well known actors. Running time of the movie is 88 minutes. The film is a PG.
Carry On Camping begins with Sid and Bernie taking their girlfriends Joan and Anthea to the cinema to watch a film about camping. Because the film contains a lot of nudity , the men think it would be an excellent idea to go on a camping trip ; thinking that it will be similar to what they seen on screen.
When they arrive at the camping site...

FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

CARRIE
Advantages: You will not want to take your eyes off the screen all the way through this film.
Disadvantages: n/a
...This is the film adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. Carrie White (excellently portrayed by Sissy Spacek) is a shy and unassuming schoolgirl who is the brunt of her classmate’s jokes. This is mainly the fault of her overbearingly religious mother Margaret White (Piper Laurie) who preaches the gospel to everyone and everything, including her own daughter.
The film begins as Carrie is showering after her gym lesson and she suddenly begins to bleed. Carrie has been taught nothing about puberty by her mother so has no idea that this is her first period and is a completely normal part of growing up. She automatically thinks that she is bleeding to death and begins to scream. The other girls in the changing room cannot believe her reaction to this and they take it as an opportunity to taunt her further by...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

The Fisher Price is not Right.
Advantages: Nice Looking design.
Disadvantages: Risk of the chair toppling over if baby is active in any way.
...When my baby boy was born, he was never all that happy with lying on his back he liked to see what was going on around him. In hospital he was more content having the cot raised, but when I bought him home it wasn't an option to be able to raise him in his cot. So I purchased a baby bouncer chair, he was very happy to sit in his bouncer and liked to be involved in what was going on and being able to see his surroundings. Before he reached 6 months I noticed that his bouncer was not going to last him much longer, so I decided it was time to look for something to replace his bouncer chair.
There are quite a few different rockers/bouncers for infants so after looking at quite a few I came across the Fisher Price linkadoo infant to toddler rocker. I have had a lot of Fisher Price products and I have always been more than happy...

CARRIE
Advantages: GOOD INSIGHT INTO TEENGERS MINDS
Disadvantages: NONE
...this was one of the first books that i owned and one of the first horror films i watched as a teenager. the book and film i believe is over 25 years old and is still one of the best i have ever read.
the characters all have their own problems like susan and her boyfriend and the rest of the gang who thought it would be funny to pick on a school girl. but that girl was carrie.
she discovers she has ktelekinectic powers which is the ability to move objects at will especially when she is angry and upset.she uses thesepowers at home to practice how to control them on her mom cissy.
cissy is a maniac preacher of gods word and believes her daughter is pocessed by the devil and shes bee punished by god for having give birth to her.the struggles they have together in the book are interesting.
then when carrie gets invited to the prom by...

Carrie - The first book of The King
Advantages: it makes you face the real world
Disadvantages: it makes you face the real world
...Stephen King - Carrie
Is there anybody out there who hasn't read (or seen the movie) Carrie yet?? I wouldn't dare to call myself a fan of Stephen King if I haven't. Not only it's his first book, published in 1974, the first of the neverending row of his bestselling novels, but it's nothing but pure horror story. I admired every aspect of it, the narrating, the dialogues, environment and characters. I think it's the characters that turned Carrie into a legend.
The storyline
The beginning couldn't be more down-to-earth. We're somewhere in the eighties and the story starts through newspaper reports. We're being told about a girl who could move anything she wanted with her mind. Anything besides people's hearts.
Carrie White is a loner, this kind of an unliked, disdained and occassionaly made fun of weirdo, part of that label...

Stephen King's Carrie
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...Stephen King's Carrie is brought to life here in this mid-seventies adaptation by Brian De Palma. It is an adaptation which is nothing short of excellent, but which lacks some of the pace of King's novel. The story itself is probably one which is known to all, but if it has managed to pass you by over the years then it goes a little something like this:
Carrie is an unpopular teenage girl in high school. Her classmates think she is weird and freaky and pick on her constantly because of this. It is hardly either her fault or suprising when her mother is quite insane and twists the words of the Bible to punish and torture her daughter wherever possible. The movie opens with the infamous scene in the girls' locker rooms after gym class, with the usual mean bullying and banter which goes on there. Carrie has her first period in...

Carrie SMASH.
Advantages: brevity, character development
Disadvantages: unusual format
...I've long been a Stephen King fan and have read many of his books, yet I have only just read his seminal 'masterpiece' and debut, Carrie.
This book was a refreshing break from many of his later works, that all seem to focus on a titanic struggle between good and evil (see The Stand, Desperation et al). This book is nicely free of all sense of good and evil, there are no ethics or political messages here, just a mentally scarred little girl.
For those of you who don't know, Carrie is a story about a girl who is bullied into religious fanaticism by her over-zealous she-bull of a mother, which obviously makes her an awkward social outcast at school. This leads to years of bullying that leave her numb to most things, untrusting, and bitter. After she discovers that she can control her telekinesis, or TK, ability, she finds new strength...

Amazing Fisher Price Strikes Again
Advantages: Durable, Colourful, Fun, lots of features
Disadvantages: Songs a bit repetitive
...his fear his face started to light up when the train moved. He is only just over a year and at the moment he plays with it as separate toys. He loves to carry the second carriage around the house by the monkey bars. He plays with each of the animals on their own. He tends to play with the engine on its own, whenever I attach the second carriage it doesn't stay attached for long! He has also grasped the concept of putting the giraffe in the engine to make the songs play. He is a bit heavy handed with this bashing it more than putting! The train and the animals all seem quite sturdy and would withstand a fair amount of battering. The animals have a surface that wipes clean of sticky fingers easily. The age stated on the product is from 6 months onwards. I would say this is about right. I think this will be played with for a while yet.
