...I have been a massive fan of the author Jodi Picoult and her books ever since I read "My Sister's Keeper", many years ago, when it was a Richard and Judy read (although I didn't know that at the time!). Since then, I've gone out of my way to read all of her other works, and get hold of her new books as soon as they come out. I always save any book tokens I get for Christmas to buy her books but even I couldn't believe my luck when last week, I won a copy of her brand new book not due out until April in a competition from her website! I was over the moon to open the packet and find my pre-release book in there and I started it that night. I've loved her past two books, so Jodi had a lot to live up for me...did she succeed once more? Handle With Care is possibly one of Jodi's most controversial books, with an impossible question...

...Carry On Camping has got to be one of my favourite films. I am not usually a fan of 'old' films , so it is quite strange that I like this film. I could watch it over and over again without getting tired of it. Carry On Camping is a British comedy film, released in the United Kingdom on May 29th 1969. It was directed by Gerald Thomas and stars Barbara Windsor (Peggy in Eastenders) and Sid James as well as a few other well known actors. Running time of the movie is 88 minutes. The film is a PG. I recenetly read 'The Lost Daughter' by Diane Chamberlain which was advertised as being "for fans of Jodi Picoult this is a must read". I found that this was far better than Jodi Picoult's books but then having found Picoult's newest book 'Handle With Care' I thought I would give her work another read. Jodi had a lot of work to do to woo me back from the work of Diane - did she handle me with enough care with this book? Wow what a minefield of controversy this book brings, it is a very absorbing book with some even more difficult decisions and questions wrapped up in the story. The story deals with a particularly nasty brittle bone disease...

...Stephen King - Carrie Is there anybody out there who hasn't read (or seen the movie) Carrie yet?? I wouldn't dare to call myself a fan of Stephen King if I haven't. Not only it's his first book, published in 1974, the first of the neverending row of his bestselling novels, but it's nothing but pure horror story. I admired every aspect of it, the narrating, the dialogues, environment and characters. I think it's the characters that turned Carrie into a legend. This Pyrex cake dish has handles.

...Amongst my Pyrex collection I have this Pyrex cake dish with handles. This cake dish is round has fluted edges and two handles for easy lifting, This is has1.1 litre capacity and is about the same circumference as a dinner plate. Price between £4 and £5 available in a lot of shops selling cooking /eating equipment and on line at http://www.kitchen-outlet.co.uk/buy/Cake-Dish-11Ltr.asp. So what do I use this dish for? Well all sorts of things, I cook sponge upside down puddings in it. I use it for cheesecakes. I present salads in it. The list of uses is too long to write on here. The only downside is the fluted edges yes they look attractive but sometimes cooked food gets stuck in them. Still fairly easily remedied just needs a bit of elbow grease and a non scratch cleaner and cleans up well I expect most of us or our parents...

It is an adaptation which is nothing short of excellent, but which lacks some of the pace of King's novel. ...I've long been a Stephen King fan and have read many of his books, yet I have only just read his seminal 'masterpiece' and debut, Carrie. This book was a refreshing break from many of his later works, that all seem to focus on a titanic struggle between good and evil (see The Stand, Desperation et al). This book is nicely free of all sense of good and evil, there are no ethics or political messages here, just a mentally scarred little girl. For those of you who don't know, Carrie is a story about a girl who is bullied into religious fanaticism by her over-zealous she-bull of a mother, which obviously makes her an awkward social outcast at school. Advantages: very funny, well acted, entertaining, good story

...Carry On Spying is one of the best Carry On films, nicely balancing a good plot with some hilarious moments. It is also the first Carry On appearance for Barbara Windsor & one of her best. This spoofs all the usual James Bond, Mata Hari kind of genre, but with a reverence, so you are laughing at it, but it does not detract from the continuing plot of the film you are watching. The cast are excellent throughout, with Bernard Cribbins, Jim Dale & Dilys Laye making welcome reappearances. It is interesting, exciting & entertaining, as well as being very clever & funny. It basically has everything you could wish for & stands out as one of the best Carry On films ever made....
