Multi Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay is back with his trademark mix of tough talking and inspirational leadership for another foray into some of the UKs scariest kitchens in a fourth season of the BAFTA and International Emmy award-winning series. This time round Gordon is pushed to the limit as he faces a succession of worst-ever restaurants, from a vegetarian eatery in Paris and a huge curry house in Nottingham, to a trip to a meat carvery in Sussex and an oyster bar in Brighton with delusions of grandeur. Gordon singularly fails to turn around one restaurant but manages to make another phenomenally successful, tripling its turnover. And there are walk-outs, shut-outs and shouting matches galore, including one obstinate chef who just wont leave until hes physically removed for good. Irrepressible and irresistible, Gordons approach is more radical than ever: making vegetarian food sexy for the French, using sustainable seafood to reinvent fish and chips and making authentic regional Indian food to replace oily slop. Moving, surprising and inspiring, Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares takes viewers to the heart of the harsh reality of running a restaurant, and reveals that theres always a chance of redemption even with the most seemingly unpromising ingredients.
Advantages: Carvery with all you can eat veg! Dog friendly. Nice location. Disadvantages: Meat was a little dry but nothing disasterous!
...Toby Carvery, Birmingham
The Toby Carvery I am going to review today is located in the perfect setting of Sutton Park. I have been going here for many years as for most of my life I was living in Sutton Coldfield and I loved nothing more than heading for Sutton Park at the weekend with my dog. My friends would often join me on our trips to the park and as a result of this we often popped into...
Advantages: Close to the city centre. Excellent varied and interesting menu. Disadvantages: A little bit pricey for some, but you get what you pay for!
...Having watched Lasan with Gordan Ramsey's F-Word restaurant of the year award in 2009, I leapt at the opportunity to go to try out the wonderful food.
Three friends and I decided we'd go during the week. The website allows you to book online and a prompt email came back confirming our table.
The area of St Paul Square (around the corner) is really cool and there are several nice bars to...
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: After a while, you're just throwing money away. Cheap isn't a bargain if it's pants
...I'm sure there are many people who will comment on this review that they love their local Toby Carvery, go religiously, and never have bad service. These are the people who will say it is unfair for me to go once, and then review this place. They will moan that I am letting one bad experience cloud my views of an entire chain, and that the poor people in the south east trying to make their living...
