...can always become overwhelming, which is why, I think, a great advantage is the way Casio have kept to a minimalist control scheme, with two modes, shoot and playback. However, saying this, thee camera does have a mind-boggling 30+ shooting modes which can become a little confusing at times when you find you simply want to be taking a picture, not a panorama, long distance, or a night scene. The battery life was disappointing with my last camera but here I am mildly impressed, the official figures say that the cameras will last for 370 pictures, I have found it to last for 200 shots but still this battery life is highly commendable. Especially useful for when you want to be going on holidays, it is highly capable of lasting a week or two without the need for a charger and when it does need a charge it never takes more than 3 or 4...

Advantages: Battery life, picture quality, easy and quick to use, many features, reliable.
Disadvantages: Bright flash, large file sizes.

...The Casio Exilim EX-Z700 is a fantastic camera with very few weaknesses. It is suitably compact and not noticeably heavy yet the screen size is not compromised; the LCD display is usefully large. In addition, the design of the zoom button is incredibly quick and easy to use as well as zooming long distances. There are many different 'best shot' styles including 'backlight' and 'monochrome'. Nevertheless using the automatic 'portrait' function produces good quality photographs for an amateur photographer. It is very easy to flick through the photos stored on the camera and with the flick of a button they are displayed on a calendar to show when they were taken. There are many settings to play around with on the menu, including self timers, sounds etc. Overall the camera is simple to use and rarely needs referal to the instructions...

Casio EXILIM: Usefull? Fun? Worthwhile?

Advantages: Nice design, and good quality pictures
Disadvantages: Hard to use interface, and trouble with pc connection

...It is a very lightweight camera for me, and i love the sleek design. The camera quality is realtively good compared to older exilim digital cameras, and with a larg high resolution screen it gives a modern theme to the camera. However, I am one who regularly uploads my photos onto the computer, and although it gives you instructions on how to do so. the camera would not connect to my pc. I took it back to the store, and they tried connecting it to their dispay computer. this failed. However, i still had a warrantee on it, and they replaced it with a camera which now works perfectly well. I am still not 100% satisfied with thi camera choice becuase there are not many settings on this camera which enable you to drastically change the camera photo. Furthermore, for technology newbies, this camera deems very difficult to use...

As you can tell there are what someone might think are excessive amounts of options. But don't let them overwhelm you, as you use the camera you can experiment with different features at a time. This is all providing you are not a camera expert, then of course I'm sure you would enjoy the vast array of options. If your like me and your not, Casio have handily provided a wheel with yet more options. However these are much easier. You just turn the wheel, which slides easily and safely clicks into place. The wheel includes: a general photo taking mode, voice record, film record, manual exposure, shutter speed AE, aperture AE (the latter 3 I have yet to understand), easy record mode and best shot. ...Another one of my toys, I bought this while I was abroad on holiday two years ago. I paid extra for a set of add-ons (1/2GB sd card, mini tripod, case, spare battery), which I won't discuss in this review (since you would have to get these separately). The camera itself fits nicely in the palm of your hand, and is a beauty to work with. It's a 5 megapixel camera, of which there is now a 10 megapixel version available. it charges via a dock charger, which in turn can connect to your PC via USB. Things I like about it: - The camera is small enough to carry around in a pocket - The screen is fairly large, and shows pictures decently - The camera takes pictures almost immediately in it's default mode, I've also had a camera which takes a second to take a picture (which is annoying) - I can walk and take pictures without stopping...

...I bought this camera a couple of weeks back and am absolutely delighted with it. Being a complete and utter camera novice I certainly wasn't interested in scrolling through a plethora of technically clever functions to be able to take a decent picture. I just wanted something reasonably simple I could point, press and rely upon after the cheap Praktika I'd been given some time ago as a birthday present kept letting me down by delivering blurred images. This Casio Exilim fits the bill beautifully. It is small, stylish and so easy to use a child could do it. I have tested it out by rattling off a series of shots in varying situations (overcast rainy day, sunshine streaming in through a back-lit window, TV on in a dark room etc.....it even captured the image on the TV and smoke coming out of an ashtray!) and it has delivered each...

...The camera has many practical and useful features: - slim and solid design (it easily fits in any pocket) - big screen and very intuitive interface - can shoot photos and movies - Best Shot technology. I found it very useful using one of the preset settings (like outdoor portrait, landscape, night party, etc), however, it also allows to manually change any setting (white balance, exposure, etc.) and create your own Best shot set up, to be reused when necessary - battery lasts quite a lot - fast shooting: you can shoot many photos one after another - the only bad side of the equipment is that it has the battery/memory card accessible from the same opening, which is quite sensitive and opens unless you are careful. This is not a big issue. I travel a lot and Exilim is always with me!...
