Casio fx-83EX is a great school calculator!
Advantages: See Review
Disadvantages: See Review
...will be some useful functions on these type of calculators (like solving quadratic equation and drawing out graph transformations etc.) that you cannot do on the Casio fx-83EX. But even now, at university, i still keep this calculator as it is so easy to use and has useful functions that you sometimes don't even get on the very expensive calculators!
I would definitely recommend this product!
Another last note is to say that to be honest, you don't even need to bother with the instruction manual as it is so simple to use and it is a commonly used calculator in schools so the teachers are bound to know how to do everything!...

Casio fx-83MS
Advantages: simple, easy to use
Disadvantages: outdated
...This is the Casio FX 83MS Scientific Calculator, for typical use at high school level. This is what you need to keep up in maths at school at GCSE level and beyond. The extra functions of a scientific calculator are necessary for this level of work and are still useful even if you just want to use a calculator simply.
Anyway, that applies for any scientific calculator, now what about this one? This is a Casio which is a good sign straight off. Casio is one of the leading brands in the scientific calculator market keeping one step ahead of the rest at all times. Now the recent 'natural display' releases from leading firms are a definite improvement on these originals as they show fractions in the form they are written amongst other things but this is still good enough. There are many different versions of the Casio scientific...

HYBRID Calculator
Advantages: Long battery life, wide range of functions, very light
Disadvantages: None as yet.
...What can I say, the Casio FX991MS is a great calculator. It can be used for regular functions such as adding, multiplying, subtracting and dividing numbers. The more advanced features include squaring, cubing, square rooting, finding areas of circles etc.
The calculator also has second functions, this is simply the name given to buttons with two or more functions. These buttons are located on the upper area of the calculator. The first and main function of the buttons are accessed via a simple tap of the button. Accessing the other function(s) of a button involves a little bit more. Other functions of buttons are accessed by pressing the SHIFT button which is located on the top left of the calculator. Once the SHIFT button has been pressed you will be able to access alternate functions of buttons that allow you to.

Casio FX 85 ES
Advantages: The new casio natural display and solar power
Disadvantages: I'll explain in the review
...Ok the Casio FX 85 ES is simply put the best calculator available on the market that can be used in exams. Casio have recently been working with the Joint Examination board to ensure it's new "student" calculators do not break the rules-so no worries there students!
So this natural display-what is it? Basically it allows you to type on the screen as if you were writing it in your book, for example squares roots are real on there and you can do fractions properly. I find it incredibly easy to use and it has gained me an A so far in my A-levels (i'm not that clever honest).
Personally i wouldn't read the instructions-merely use them for reference and work everything out on your own-it's easy enough.
The calculator boasts all the normal functions including memory storage, radians degrees and gradians functions...

Confessions of Maths A-Level student...
Advantages: All the core facilities
Disadvantages: Not the most up to date model
...Having just finished A-Level Maths, I can vouch for the reliability and usefulness of this calculator. It has all of the necessary features for study up to, and I believe, beyond A-Level.
Ease of use is a strong point for this product, as it easy to switch between modes (e.g. decimal or radian) and to use the secondary button feature.
I have used this calculator for years and never had any problems with it... it's survived being dropped many times and seems very durable!
The Casio FX 991 MS has all the standard features of a scientific calculator, but sadly is growing slightly out dated now. Many of my friends have the more up to date Casios, some of which are graphical calculators... which I believe allow you to plot graphs and calculate integrations and differentiations. However, none of this is essential, and the FX 991 MS...

Schoolchild's wonder
Advantages: 401 different functions including equation solving. Two-way power supply
Disadvantages: May encourage you to cheat in maths as it is so good.
...My first calculator was a casio and I was very impressed with that, however I lost it and as a replacement decided to buy the Casio FX-991MS from Argos (£14.99) which is the most advanceed scientific, handheld, non-graphical calculator which they stock.
The two line display means that you can see the calculations you have entered, and replay means you can scroll back up through the previous calculations, both very useful for checking back through calculations.
It can perform basic calculations, memory calculations, scientific function calculations, equation calculations, statistical calculations, Base-n, Differential, integration, matrix and vector calculations, as well as metric conversions and scientific constants.
All this sounds very complicated but it basically means that it is no ordinary calculator. It can do what you...

Casio Calculator
Advantages: Good Price, Does that it says it will, Solar powered
Disadvantages: None that i can think of
...I bought this calculator at my local woolworths as i was after a scientific calculator and one that was cheap(i paid under £10 for this one which seemed a good price).
The calculator is made by Casio which are a well known brand for making anything from calculators to TV's . The dimensions are 84x155x12mm and it is a light too which is a bonus.
The keys are large enough for most people and all the writing is clear on and above the keys.
This scientific calculator with has 249 functions (164 scientific functions) - including statistic functions. It is primarily aimed at secondary school student but i reckon it will be fine for almost any function unless you need the functions of a graphic calculator
It is solar powered so it doesn't require any batteries in order to function however as with all solar powered products, you just...

Casio the wonder calculator!
Advantages: Reliable, Long battery life and very handy!
Disadvantages: Long mathmatical equation inputting not so good.
...This Casio calculator has been at my side for approximately at least 5years now, and is in more demand now than previous use. I have used this calculator in 3 main areas.
1. General GCSE
2. Chemistry and Biology A-level and now
3. Chemistry degree (first year only so far?)
GCSE:
Harking back to the good ole days (why are they called the good ole days? Someone please tell me why!) My calculator joined me in my quest of maths at the tender age of 13, where the most advanced calculations it was asked to do was to deal with are such aspects as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square roots, powers and bracketed equations. These are the basics of most maths until a level maths, and on these small calculations it doesn?t fail. One would think that if it did it wouldn?t really be a good calculator! (By the way...
