The casio calc

Advantages: Very good quality graphic calculator
Disadvantages: Speed of 'graph' calculations and lots needed to learn to use it

...The Casio fx-9750G is the calculator I now use at college. It seems to be the standard calculator to use now at AS and A level, as I know other sixth forms other than my college who now solely sell these to their students. The look and layout : - The Casio fx-9750G is a quite chunky calculator with dimesnsion of 178mm x 89mm x 21mm, as one might expect of a graphic calculator, but it is not unnattractive to the eye. It comes in an assortment of colours, mine being green, but all (that I know of) have a white cover and front surface. The calculator has some attractive, if pointless, curves in its body, but to be honest, when choosing a calculator I don't think look should have a great deal of influence. The layout of the calculator is very good. The screen, dimensions 36mm x 62mm, give ample room to carry out calculations and is...

A student's view

Advantages: so many funtions, makes calculations a lot easier, draw graphs, big screen, large memory
Disadvantages: battery powered, bulky, long instruction manual

...I was required to get a graphical calculator for A-level maths and the casio fx-9750G plus was the one sold through the college. This has been unbelievably useful as with the many functions, it helps with things that would normally take a long time to do by hand. It is a white colour with a green back and sides. The lid is easily taken off and can be put on the back whilst the calculator is in use and the large screen is incredibly useful when looking at graphs. It came packaged in quite a large box ( 20cm x 14cm) and althouh the calculator is quite bulky, most of the box contains the instruction booklet. It is 480 pages long with ALL of it being in english. This meant it was a bit daunting to look at so I only really used it to work out how to put the batteries in. Pressing on will take you to the main menu which has 15...

calculating success!

Advantages: Thoroughly useful if you are studying maths!
Disadvantages: It is a little pricey.

...The Casio fx-9750GII is one of the newest releases in the graphical calculator range from casio, as you would expect from such a large brand its almost faultless! The calculator comes standard with a 3 year warrantee which is helpful considering the price! The calculator comes with 64kb RAM and also has a USB port so you can connect it to your computer. If you havent used a Graphical calculator before and you work with more complex maths regularly i would definatly suggest investing in one, and this is a top of the range model. As with most standard scientific calculators it can convert from fractions to decimals, calculate simple and complex multiplications divisions etc.. but as this is graphical it can do just that little bit more, it also has a very clear icon menu. The Icon menu clearly shows each available main function...

A good calculator. But hard to get the hang of

Advantages: Lots of exciting mathsy things to do, cuts the work for your brain
Disadvantages: Quite hard to grasp - esp complicated things

...I was loaned the fx-9750G by my school whilst doing my A-Level maths course. It seemed most unfair, as only those doing double maths were allowed one of these beauties. However, I soon realised the reason for this. It takes a super-brain of Further-Maths-A-Level proportions to actually figure out how to work the thing. For starters, there seemed to be about three or four buttons explaining what seemed to be, on a linguistic synonymic level, 'BACK', but all carried out subtly different functions. To start with I just often hit the off button then started again from scratch. Thank goodness for it's memory! However, with time, I have slowly become acquainted with this 80s-styled beast, and I am the first to admit that the fx-9750G was playing hard-to-get at first ; it's now well worth getting to know it for the rewards. Short...

Casio Calculator

Advantages: Good Price, Does that it says it will, Solar powered
Disadvantages: None that i can think of

...I bought this calculator at my local woolworths as i was after a scientific calculator and one that was cheap(i paid under £10 for this one which seemed a good price). The calculator is made by Casio which are a well known brand for making anything from calculators to TV's . The dimensions are 84x155x12mm and it is a light too which is a bonus. The keys are large enough for most people and all the writing is clear on and above the keys. This scientific calculator with has 249 functions (164 scientific functions) - including statistic functions. It is primarily aimed at secondary school student but i reckon it will be fine for almost any function unless you need the functions of a graphic calculator It is solar powered so it doesn't require any batteries in order to function however as with all solar powered products, you just...

Casio the wonder calculator!

Advantages: Reliable, Long battery life and very handy!
Disadvantages: Long mathmatical equation inputting not so good.

...This Casio calculator has been at my side for approximately at least 5years now, and is in more demand now than previous use. I have used this calculator in 3 main areas. 1. General GCSE 2. Chemistry and Biology A-level and now 3. Chemistry degree (first year only so far?) GCSE: Harking back to the good ole days (why are they called the good ole days? Someone please tell me why!) My calculator joined me in my quest of maths at the tender age of 13, where the most advanced calculations it was asked to do was to deal with are such aspects as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square roots, powers and bracketed equations. These are the basics of most maths until a level maths, and on these small calculations it doesn?t fail. One would think that if it did it wouldn?t really be a good calculator! (By the way...

Casio fx-83EX is a great school calculator!

Advantages: See Review
Disadvantages: See Review

...will be some useful functions on these type of calculators (like solving quadratic equation and drawing out graph transformations etc.) that you cannot do on the Casio fx-83EX. But even now, at university, i still keep this calculator as it is so easy to use and has useful functions that you sometimes don't even get on the very expensive calculators! I would definitely recommend this product! Another last note is to say that to be honest, you don't even need to bother with the instruction manual as it is so simple to use and it is a commonly used calculator in schools so the teachers are bound to know how to do everything!...

Casio MX8V is as easy as 1 2 3!

Advantages: Robust, reliable with big keys
Disadvantages: No complicated functions.

...When I was at school we had to have scientific calculators- you know the sort, loads of buttons and functions that you could never remember how to use. My children now both have these types floating around inside their schoolbags somewhere but whenever I needed to use a calculator I could never find one! Eventually I tired of trying to use the calculator on my PC or phone and decided to buy myself a proper calculator. The choice of calculators everywhere seemed overwhelming but when I thought about it I really didn't need anything too complicated. I just needed a basic machine for working out my finances etc. I had a look in the Argos catalogue and decided to opt for the Casio MX8V. I had owned Casio calculators in the past and been happy with them and it looked nice and simple! It cost about £5 when I bought it in 2007 and I have...

Casio FX 85 ES

Advantages: The new casio natural display and solar power
Disadvantages: I'll explain in the review

...Ok the Casio FX 85 ES is simply put the best calculator available on the market that can be used in exams. Casio have recently been working with the Joint Examination board to ensure it's new "student" calculators do not break the rules-so no worries there students! So this natural display-what is it? Basically it allows you to type on the screen as if you were writing it in your book, for example squares roots are real on there and you can do fractions properly. I find it incredibly easy to use and it has gained me an A so far in my A-levels (i'm not that clever honest). Personally i wouldn't read the instructions-merely use them for reference and work everything out on your own-it's easy enough. The calculator boasts all the normal functions including memory storage, radians degrees and gradians functions...

Casio G shock Watch,for toughness,durability and comfort

Advantages: shock resistant,water proof,durable
Disadvantages: might not be suitable for evening/formal wear, slightly expensive

...My husband is naturally careless and clumsy. He is famous for forgetting to remove his watch before showering!. , So when i wanted to gift a watch to him , I was very particular about the reliability of the product. Since he is prone to allergy , I had to be careful about the watch straps too while choosing. Casio G shock watch has a 'tough' look and that is the type my husband loves. The case and strap are made of plastic, I chose black colour, though there are grey and i think blue also to choose from. The display is large, clear and striking and has a light blue coloured light. There are buttons on the sides of the watch to adjust the time, day and date settings ,dispalay light and also the world time which is a great advantage if you are travelling!!. It has a daily alarm and also birthday/anniversary reminders...
