Cheap and easy to make (Colman's Sausage Casserole Sauce Mix)

Decent seafood casserole for the lazy

...INTRODUCTION I have been working from home recently, and whilst channel surfing the TV during (ahem) one of my very occasional coffee breaks (of 2 hours duration), I chanced upon that old lush Keith Floyd in Marsailles cooking up a traditional French bouillabaisse. I quite fancied some of that but felt quite lazy to cook, and so I toddled to my local M&S and picked up a seafood casserole from their "Cook! Fish" range. I'm not sure if that name is appropriate really; I think more apt titles for some of the dishes in that range would be "Heat Up In Oven!", "Throw Together Ingredients In Frying Pan Without Burning!" or "Microwave And Stir You Lazy Sod!" but I suppose the subtle psychology employed to convince the consumer they're actually participating in the preparation would be somewhat lost. ...Yum, what could be nicer than sausages for dinner but for anyone who has ever got bored of sausage and mash or a fry up dinner then this sausage casserole mix is for you. As you know from another one of my reviews I would love to make all my casseroles and dinners from scratch but just do not have the time so these packets are perfect for "cheating." It comes from the makers Colman's of Norwich who are probably most famous for their mustard in the little yellow jars. The packaging of this mix includes the yellow at the top so you know it is from the same company and I think that is what lets you know that this is going to be a good quality product. I bought my last couple of packets in Sainsburys for 79p each so definitely a bargain. I always find it is good to buy a few at a time as you can store them in the cupboard and they last...

Chicken Casserole for the Soul

...the ingredients in my fridge. I realised the other day that I've started buying the Marks and Sparks Count on Us chicken casserole fairly regularly, which must mean it's worthy of a review. I think the most important point I can make about it is not taste, or calories, or even quality of the ingredients, but that it doesn't leave me hungry. I don't need to eat a huge hunk of bread with it in order to feel I have had a decent meal. And that's primarily why I keep coming back to it. Visually, it's not the most exciting ready meal, and looks like it might be quite watery, but then anything that comes in a flimsy black plastic tray always worries me. It looks bland, which is probably it's biggest fault on the taste front as well. And even once cooked it doesn't have that home-made appetising casserole smell that used to draw me down the stairs...

Can be made on the hob or in oven INGREDIANTS : 1 Colemans Sausage Casserole Mix 3 Tins of Baked Beans 16 Sausages METHOD: Grill or fry your sausages Empty Beans in a large stockpot (hob) casserole dish (oven) Mix, Sausage Casserole as per instructions on packet and mix into Beans. Cook on low heat untill thickens, then add cooked Sausages. Guess work on how long, as it can be left in oven or hob as its best to leave slow cooking while you doing other things. This recipe came about by accident one day when a tin of tomatoes had the wrong label attached, and I was astonished to see apricots inside when I opened it.
