Chirk Castle - stunning views

Advantages: A magnificant castle with stunning views.
Disadvantages: None

...This is a magnificent castle with fantastic views and it is one of the finest National Trust Properties in the area. It is 1 miles of the A5, 2 miles from Chirk village and approximately 6 miles from Llangollen. For SAT NAV. users the postcode in LL14 5AF. It is open from Wednesday to Sunday each week from February half term to the end of October, but also open on Tuesdays during July and August. The castle itself is open from 11.00am. but the garden and tea rooms open at 10.00am.Closing times vary from 4pm to 5pm depending on the time of year. It is also open on Bank Holidays. The car park is about 200 yards from the castle but there is a drop off point nearer the castle for the disabled. Prices including a gift aid contribution for the castle and gardens are £9.20 per adult, £4.60 per child but there is a family ticket...

Beautiful View - Belvoir Castle

Advantages: Beautiful Castle and Gardens
Disadvantages: Steep climb to get to the castle, before you start to enjoy the sights

...photo's inside the castle, our guide book cost us approx £4.00 and then there was the £1.00 for parking, this was becoming fairly expensive for a couple of hours. Our tour of Belvoir Castle is now on the way, Belvoir means beautiful view in French, and so it is rightly named as the views are spectacular. Also people pronounce it Bever Castle; from my research it was pronounced Bever because people had difficulty with the French pronunciation Belvoir. Anyway I digress back to our tour, we have no tour guide as we have missed the 12.30pm time slot for the organised tour. So off we go with my chief photographer (my hubby) snapping away. Our journey starts with the pre-guard room and the guardroom where there is a vast display of 19th Century muskets and Armour dating from the 18th Century. The Guardroom is Gothic in design and leads you...

I'll take the castle with the sea view! Blown away by Culzean...

Advantages: Just a spectacular place
Disadvantages: Costly

...Following some idyllic weather days at the end of May we went in search of a day trip that would offer us some time in the sunshine. Having lived in Scotland for several years we are really only just starting to branch out and see some of the amazing places that it has to offer. Following a Google search we came across Culzean Castle and Country Park. The photos of the location and the buildings were sufficient enough to whet the appetite and justify the midday hour and 15 minute long drive from Glasgow. A designated National Trust site handed over by the Kennedy family in 1945 and declared as Scotland's first country park in 1969 it boasts an array of attractions and plenty of open space. The drive from Glasgow was really pleasant with fantastic views out to the coast from very early on in our journey. Traffic was reasonably heavy...

Inverness as a place to visit

Advantages: Plenty activities, good nightlife at weekends, safe, scenic,
Disadvantages: weekday evening entertainment can be a bit poor,

...but i can honestly say ive never been in. Plenty of bars to choose from to suit all types of people from Irish bars to Ceilidh bars to live music and bands and the ironworks also has big names starring several nights a week all year round right down to your local jd wetherspoons offering nice cheap drink in every city Tourism is the major player in inverness to be honest and there is plenty to see here i guess. Loch Ness is a matter of a few miles from Inverness and offers an attractive scenery with castle ruins and visitor centres to visit, there is a road that loops right round the loch which makes for a great drive on a good sunny day with a few little villages on the way that are full of touristy nik naks and things. Culloden battlefield is also nice and close but in the opposite direction with a brand new tourist centre...

"Your castle in our hands" the tenant's view.

Advantages: Freindly, polite and an excellent service to tenants.
Disadvantages: do not cover all areas of the UK

...and polite. When they come to view the property (every 6 months) they give plenty of notice and are flexible to our times. All in all, I would recommend Castle Estates to anyone looking to rent a property in an area that they operate. THE FACTS: Castle Estates is a Letting Agent, and deals solely in letting out properties from private and corporate landlords. There are over 50 offices Nationwide, including Scotland and Southern Ireland. They are approved members of ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents) and NALS (National Approved Lettings Scheme). All tenants over 18 are checked, before an agreement is made, through two references, one personal and one to prove their employer. Tenants also undergo a credit check, which determines whether the tenant will need a Guarantor. Tenants pay a security deposit of two...

The most haunted castle in Britain

Advantages: Beautiful castle and grounds
Disadvantages: None

...seen decorative refinements, with the gardens and grounds laid out by Sir Jeffrey Wyatville - fresh from his triumphs at Windsor Castle. The grounds are beautiful, and there are great views of the surrounding Northumbrian countryside. As you walk to the lake you will see seasonal flowers as well as an Elizabethan Topiary garden. I particularly enjoy walking along the woodland walks which lead to the lakes, and have been lucky enough to spot red squirrels and plenty of rabbits. Deer and badgers reside there also. Chillingham castle I have always thought is very aptly named, as 'chilling' is a word I would use to describe it when standing outside looking up to the castle, which I think gives off a sense of foreboding. It is said to be one of the most haunted places in Britain and was named the most haunted castle in Britain. Indeed it has...

Prague Castle

Advantages: Great view
Disadvantages: Waste of money

...prices may not be accurate.) -Getting There- Obviously travelling there will depend on where you're staying but the easiest way is probably to take the metro to Malostranska from there you can get the tram but I would highly recommend walking up the steps to the castle because the view from there is amazing. Of course you can take the easier way and get the tram up and then walk to the top of the steps. The view is simply breathtaking and while there are towers that you can go up for similarly great views they cost money and this is free. From here you can see all over Prague. I personally think that it's worth going to the castle just for the view. It was the highlight of my day...but then much of the rest of the day was a huge disappointment so maybe that's not saying much! -Free Things to do in Prague Castle- -The...

~ Caldicot Castle - Feast fit for a King ~

Advantages: Excellent food, Great sites, Good history, Nice staff
Disadvantages: none - apart from the one guy see review

...of different outfits including knights, priests and a Robin Hood. As we walked up to the draw bridge the view was brilliant and we all waited at the front gate to be instructed in. It was a lovely time to spend the evening and the next day we came back to the fun day held there. ~ About the Castle ~ Caldicot Castle is situated in the beautiful woodland and country park of Caldicot. It was founded by the Normans in the Middle ages and was past on to Victorian times and turned into a family home until the 1960?s. The Castle has a lot of history. It is known for its colourful setting and romantic history including stories told by the staff. The castle is set within fifty acres of park with rivers and nature surrounding it. The park offers walks and picnics set alongside the Castle walls and usually hosts fairs and fates. The Castle...

A CASTLE OF DREAMS

Advantages: Outstandingly Beautiful and Romantic Setting. Interesting History. A Great day Out.
Disadvantages: Difficult to Find - Otherwise None!

..., at the time of our latest visit (19.3.2006), that I was partially disabled, my left leg only having been out of plaster for three weeks. We had last visited Bodiam around eighteen months ago and from memory I did not think that this visit would be too much hampered by the fact that my walking is very slow and aided by a stick. The path up to the castle from the car park is well surfaced with gravel and not very steep. Certainly I had no problems managing it, neither did a quite elderly couple apparently, the wife of which was in a wheelchair. In wet weather, or if the grassy banks surrounding and above the castle are wet and slippery, you loose little in the way of views by sticking to the paths. In the summer - as we did on our last visit, those grassy banks make superb picnick spots, shaded as they are by leafy trees. On the ridge, just...

Luxurious Inverness

Advantages: Beautiful Hotel, Fantastic View
Disadvantages: Very Expensive, Location

...The Culloden House Hotel is located just outside Inverness near Culloden Battlefield. We spent a night in the hotel at the end of September. We stayed in one of the Junior Garden Suites. The suite was gorgeous and had two rooms; both the bedroom and the lounge had beautiful views of the grounds. The rooms were large and bright with tasteful decor. The bathroom was enormous and beautifully done in marble. I usually have trouble with hotel beds, but our bed was not too soft and extremely comfortable! I didn't want to leave! The staff is polite, accommodating and very helpful. Unfortunately, since the stay was so short we didn't get the chance to eat in the restaurant - which by all accounts is worth a trip up to Inverness in itself! Therefore, I cannot honestly rate the food as excellent as I didn't try it. The only...
