Scattergories - a game of categories!

...As I have said in some previous reviews about board games, we don't get out much these days, having two small children, so we are always on the look out for good games that we can play at home with friends. Scattergories is certainly a game to fit the bill particularly if you like playing word games. The name of the game itself is a play on words - for scattergories think categories! The aim of the game is to think up original ideas in many varied categories all depending on a starting letter. It is a game for two to six players, and at the start of the game each player is supplied with an answer sheet, a pencil and a category card. The answer sheet has three columns to write answers as the aim is that three rounds will make up a game! Ciao UK is one of international consumers? portals in which we could participate by sharing our opinions of various products. Well, as I see that there are a lot of potential and talented members found in this community, I have an idea for this community. Currently we are talking about products by their brands. In this case, I see that we do not have a special category in which members could submit opinions on histories of products. THE category

Advantages: The lack of information helps making decisions

...I have no doubt that managing money can be sometimes difficult due to the spending lack of it, but obviously the difference between income and outgoing (bills and etc…) is the money that basically you can save, or invest, or is the money available to do whatever you would like and it is interesting to find in the category the best investment at the present moment, institutions where you can have a good deal, banks or building societies that helps more than others, tax free investments, etc… I take the category, as a good advice, and the place to go when you are in doubt, not so sure about the credit cards for an example, which one could suit your needs, customer service are a lot appreciated when you can talk to a human on the phone if trying to sort some kind of problem and which places offer the best customer service...

Entertaining category to write for

Advantages: Huge number of products, great variety in styles of writing, constant evolution of products, competitions regularly

...Entertainment has to be one of my specialist subjects on ciao. I have always been a great fan of TV, Film and Music especially, since I write my own plays and music and watch as many films as possible. Since there is so much available in the entertainment area on ciao, and there is such a wide variety of things to read and write about, it's a category that I often find myself visiting, to catch up with what I've missed and any new releases (or old ones) from bands that I like the sound of, and, of course, those I don't. I find Ciao extremely detailed and easy to use all over, not least in this region. There is so much to see across the region, covering Books, soundtracks and music retailers, to CDs, DVDs, gigs and TV shows. A new category for Ciao

...I know that ideas like this should really go straight to the Ciao team but I thought it might be a good idea to get some feedback from the members first; after all we are the ones that matter around here. After carefully watching, reading, rating and yes being challenged occasionally (thanks Kalamazoo and ****) whilst whiling away the small hours of Wednesday morning with yet another bout of insomnia I came up with the brilliant idea of a category just for this type of challenges. It could go into the café section and could be run much the same way that challenges are being run at the moment... At the moment for those of you who have been lucky enough to escape the net, either that or just had more sense that to comment on the afore mentioned ops I will explain what happens with the challenge. Somebody at home gets really bored...

Yet it seems to me that the café section is crying out for some new categories to excite our word processors’ imaginations and get their creative juices flowing. All too often we find ourselves depleting the resources of a finite and irreplaceable alphabet with “Everything that starts with….” ops, when the topics could easily constitute stimulating new categories in their own right.
