The work of a catering assistant
Review of Catering Assistant by
kfeyewatch
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Horrible, tiring work
...Catering Assistants serve food to customers at catering establishments from behind a counter. This may include both hot and cold snacks. Catering Assistants take orders and operate the cash register. They are also responsible for making sure that the counter areas and tables are kept clean, that there is an adequate supply of cutlery, crockery, glasses and trays available at all times, and that there is sufficient food on display and drinks in the drink machines. Catering Assistants usually spend some time in the wash-up area, filling the dish-washer and cleaning other kitchen utensils. In the smaller establishments they may be required to prepare all food themselves.
Educational and Other Requirements
No formal educational qualifications are required. Catering Assistants need to have out-going friendly personalities. They should...

Miss Selfrige Discriminates
Review of Miss Selfridge (Shop) by
Paceysprincess
Advantages: Nice window displays, good layout, nice accesories
Disadvantages: Staff are rude, the shop doesn't cate for every one
...Although some of the clothes in miss selfridge are trashy, cheap and tarty I feel the biggest mistake this shop makes is not catering for larger sizes. Miss selfridge only goes up to a size 14 wheras there are other teenage shops that go up to at leat 16 or 18 such as Topshop or New Look. I think the people at miss selfridge should realise that the world doesn't reveolve around the supermodels of the world and start catering for the wider community. It should follow the example of places like top shop which is the worlds largest fasfion store....

Best place to sample the culture
Review of Temple Bar, Dublin by
LIZZIE241079
Advantages: you have everything you need in one small area
Disadvantages: can be very over crowded
...Temple Bar has to be the best place in the city to sample the true Irish experience. This small area has laods of shops - both second hand . vintage, new , designer to the unknown, loads of different eating houses with all tastes being catered for. The nite life is unbelievable in this area - whith numerous pub and nite clubs - all with their own different style and attitude. This to me has to be the best location in Dublin. There are theme cafes, bars - this is a great part of this city with all walks in mine this area can cater for all....

Catering at University
Review of Catering Assistant by
lesleyanne18
Advantages: Good wage
Disadvantages: always on feet
...i have been working as a catering assistant for the past year in my local university - i personally enjoy the work. unlike others i know.
my main job is to ensure all the dishes are brought in from the front of the restaurant to the kitchen, washed dried and put away again.
Our establishment offers a catering service outside the restaurant throughout the university, so i would make up teas and coffees for the amout required and deliver their order to them at the location. we also offer lunches, finger buffets the lot.
my other duties would include ensuring the tables and desktops are all clean and tidy , ensuring all cutlery is stocked up and that all stock is fully stocked up. including snacks, yogurts, milks, fridges, salad bar, tea cups, and water fountain cups aswell as ensuring the kitchen itself is tidy. i dont do all...

playa del ingles
Review of Gran Canaria (Spain) by
kslov
Advantages: caters for all ages, good waterpark
Disadvantages: none that I can think of
...I went to Playa del Ingles in July of this year. I am 19 and went with my boyfiend. We chose this resort because it promised to be lively-and it was! We travelled with Just holidays and stayed self catering in the Liberty Apartments. The cost of the holiday was reasonable and the apartments were centrally located though quite a walk from the beach, and although quite basic was very pleasant and quite a 'young' hotel with a poolside bar and small convenience shop. I would recommend the nightlife to any age. It is typical of a large resort such as this which claims to be the second biggest in Europe. The English centre seems more catered towards families with numerous pubs and restaurants, as opposed to the Plaza and Kasbah Centres which cater for people like us with even more clubs and bars. Look out for bars with offers such as two...

Uni Accomodation
Review of Kent University, Canterbury by
penguin_too
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Kent offers you several choices of accomodation: halls, self-catering, and rented houses in town.
My advice to freshers is - go for halls in your first year then, if you can get in, self-catering in your last.
The self-catering parts are spread into several houses - Brotherwood Close, etc and then a whole village called Parkwood. If you go into these in your first year and you don't get on with your housemates etc you've got to try and make friends elsewhere. Also, in Parkwood, you may find that you are in a house full of foreign students, nice for a year but when you're looking for housemates for your second year not so good as they are guaranteed a place in Parkwood and you aren't.
Also, in halls you can at least know that you've got one meal guaranteed so if you do run out of cash at the end of term you can still get a cooked...

Come back Flemings, all is forgiven
Review of Cater Allen by
stevehem
Advantages: Polite, generally moderately knowledgeable staff
Disadvantages: No longer able to answer the phone quickly.
...I have banked with Cater Allen for many decades, since they were the retail banking arm of Robert Fleming & Co (RIP).
Having passed through various corporate hands they ended up with Abbey, which in turn is part of the Santander Group.
The whole operation was always faintly amateurish, with serious incompetence demonstrated when anything complicated was requested (for example transferring funds to an overseas account), but the call centre operatives were friendly and polite, always addressed me as 'Mr Hemingway' and gave both their name and surname.
The one aspect of their operation that was good was the fact that the calls to the bank are answered by a human who can actually help. Being passed around the centre was very rare, and this alone kept me a loyal customer. The other great thing about the bank was that phone calls...

The Flexibility of Self-catering
Review of Sheffield University by
Saul_Walker
Advantages: Flexibility, Lower Rent Than Halls, Eat when you like, and what you like
Disadvantages: Not as quiet as you may think, Need to do lots more work (i.e. shopping), May cost more if your a little flamboyant with your money
...Coming to the end of my first year at Sheffield University and the end of my tenancy in one of their self-catering flats I thought I would write on my experiences in this type of accommodation. Though not excellent I have had a good time living in the flat with both bad and good points, so before you make a decision on whether self-catering is the way to go listen to what I have to say and weigh up what’s best for you.
The building I live in is pretty small compared with other accommodation with thirty-eight people in total living in 6 separate flats. Each flat has two bathrooms with a shower and bathtub and a kitchen. The kitchens are pretty spacious and contain an oven, microwave, sink, about twelve cupboards, plenty of worktop space, table and chairs. The study bedrooms are fairly big although about half the size of my bedroom...

Cheap
Review of New Look (Shop) by
Natt
Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: quality can be a bit naf sometimes
...New Look is great if you are pretty skint and you need some new stuff, it caters for all types of clothing and tastes at a reasonable price. new looks huge variety includes: clubbing wear, casual wear and smart wear for all occasions. some of the new look club wear lines are quiote tastless but overall the casual and smart wear is quite good. its good for jeans, shirts, skirts and some shoes. i choose this service as it is very cheap- the quality of clothing may not be as good as you could get else where but if your a student with a low income tis is definatly the place to go. there are all different types of clothes aimed at various age group ranging from young teenagers to adults. they have recently brought out a catologue catering for the larger sizes too....

Great download resource!
Review of zdnet.com by
djfoulkes
Advantages: Easy to use, massive selection
Disadvantages: ?
...ZDNet has always been my favourite site for downloads. You almost always find the very program you need - With everything ranging from Point of Sale software to DOS Databasing.
Not only do they have the major software demos that you would expect to find, but they also cater for minority needs: supplying specialist software such as complex sound and video editing.
If you don't know exactly what you need, its easy just to browse through the top downloads in each category and subcategory. ZDNet cater very well for small software companies who cannot get their software on to other large download sites.
The best resource for all download needs - Server speed is good, and always reliable....
