...My dad has always kept dogs. At the moment he has two: Charlie, a Chocolate Labrador and Roger, an Old English Sheepdog, before them there was Jasper, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Magic, Border Collie and Cassie a German Shepherd. If you take all the pets we had growing up throughout our childhood we could easily have run a farm! I loved Jasper. He became one of my favourite pets. I know, I know, I shouldn't have favourites but he was gorgeous! Don't forget the Cavalier..........

Advantages: Wonderful temperament

...I was flicking through some reviews today and saw one for a breed of dog (which type eludes me for the moment), but it made me think of my beloved pet, Oliver....... All through our childhood, my brother and I longed for a dog. We would repeatedly badger my parents, to no avail. However, most Sundays our hope would soar, when our Dad used to say he was off to "see a man about a dog" - it took years for us to realise that he was actually talking about going for a pint! ...The Vauxhall Cavalier has been a mainstay of the budget used market for a few years now, up until recently they where it was seen an nearly a social faux-pas to not have one for sale on your street corner. Admittedly most of the ones had dubious remarks such as, "Good workhorse," and "price reflects bodywork," written in permanent marker, taped with brown tape to a side window, above £250 ono. Cavalier GSi 2000

Advantages: Four doors, performance, reliability and the number of extras as standard
Disadvantages: Lack of boot space

...things tip top. The car does suffer from the lazy tappet problem that most of these engines suffer from, however within a few minutes of running this goes. Performance is pretty good, considering the car is 13 years old it comes with 150Bhp as standard, the 2ltr 16v engine fitted has very good response all the way from 2k rpm right to the limiter at about 6,750rpm. Fuel consumption is still very good for a performance car, it returns between 35-40mpg on a run and around 30mpg around town. I love the looks of the gsi over all the other cavaliers, it has a very agressive look to it from the front. The bodykit fitted as standard isn't OTT and looks the part. Cavalier SRI

Advantages: Good vauxhall quality, fast and reliable.
Disadvantages: A tad ugly now

...To be honest the first cavalier SRi I came across was an old G Reg faded red rusty £50 example but the car just wouldnt die. Whatever we tried to do to the car to kill it, it just kept on going. This was only the 2 litre 8 valve engine but since that car I have bought quite a few cavaliers because I find them brilliant cars. The cavalier SRi's I have had have all been fanatstic performers right through the engine range (2.0 8v, 2.0 16v red top and 2.0 16v ecotec) I have had all the different SRi models and I cant really complain. The car isnt let down anywhere, great fuel economy compared with its performance, comfortable recaro made seats, good handling for a big roomy car, and engines you just cant kill. In my opinion if you can find a 2.0 16v red top engined SRi with low mileage and clean bodywork, GET IT!! So all in all to cut...

Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0i 16v GLS (1994)

Disadvantages: Has so far proven unreliable.

...I bought my Cavalier in quite a rush, as a car was essential for me to get to and from work. Unfortunately, I haven't had the best experience so far! When I first purchased the car, the brakes needed replacing - they grew worse quite quickly, to the point that I had to have the brake pads and discs changed quite urgently. A week after this, the brake master cylinder went, which cost a fair bit, as the garage also had to bleed the brakes again. A few months ago the revs started to drop very low, to the point where the car would stall if it was in neutral or stopped. I searched the internet and found that this was due to a faulty throttle idle valve. I replaced this, and the rev problem seems to be improved for now. I have the GLS version, and I do like the look of the car. It strikes me as a car that has a bit of attitude...

Cavalier SRi - a cheap prescription

...With 159,000 miles on the clock mine is still going strong! The cavalier SRi has to be one of the best budget sports style cars that money can buy. Power steering, alloy wheels, electric windows (front), electric - heated mirrors, and a 2.0 litre engine with 130 bhp makes for a fun drive whatever the weather. It has a good power curve with plenty of torque, which means that you can effortlessly drive round twisty roads at a comfortable rpm without constantly changing gear to build back your speed. Handling as standard is very good, but I have introduced a set of Spax springs to stiffen the ride and increase stability. ...Vauxhall Cavalier Mk3 There are many second hand Cavaliers' on the market, 'K' - 'M' registrations can be picked up in around the £3K bracket. I am currently on my second Cavalier ( M-Reg ) and have the following opinions. These cars are cheap to service, have good fuel economy, and I have found my current 'M' reg to be good on the "theft proofing" side. As standard it comes with immobiliser, on 2 occassions thieves have failed to get away with it after breaking in. If you are looking to buy, look out for "Expression" models, which come with elecric windows, sunrooof, body colour bumpers / mirrors , ABS, Airbag, and alloy wheels. The 1.8i I can say, is an excellent car, smooth ride and acceleration, which does not seem to be affected even with a car full of people / goods. CAVALIER 2.0i16V GLS, 95 HATCHBACK

Advantages: very reliable and cheap to maintain and fast and comfortable
Disadvantages: origional alloy wheels corrode and have problems with tyres sealing properly

...I own a 95 2.0i 16V GLS , i had no intensions on buying a vauxhall but it was the 1st car I walked past when i went for a walk, it was cheap and looked great, no rust what so ever and just needed 2 new tyres on the back, so I handed over 350£ and came out with this cavalier with 5 months mot and tax, with only 74k, the same day i had the tyres fitted then drove 280 miles to north wales for a few days then drove back again no problem, since ive owned the car ive fitted new front wish bones and tie bushes, a full service, new front pads and discs as they was a bit worn as i do a lot of mileage, it flew theough the mot, and all ive dont since then is fitted a nice set of new alloy wheels and tyres, and a couple of oil changes, and last week a new set of rear shocks as they started to leak, and today im fitting in tome new rear pads, ive...
