Tryp Cayo Coco, Relax and Explore
Advantages: Huge compex, right on the beach, Good food, great atmosphere!
Disadvantages: lacks character
...Visiting Cuba as a couple, we booked an All Inclusive package deal to the Tryp Cayo Coco, in September 2004. I booked through TVtravelshop.com, who were fantrastic
We hadn't shopped around much and booked purely on the price.
The Tryp is a very large complex expanding around a large complex of restaurants/bars shops and entertainment.
with a large main pool and swim-up bar with ample space to get a much needed drink the comlex was perfect for relaxing by the pool in the constant heat.
All Inclusive here did just what it said on the tin! everything-including international beers/drinks, more food than you could possibly eat at any time of day or night and an excellent choice too.
The large main restaurant is buffet style with a wide choice of food for whatever you fancy. Food is basic but good quality.
There are other...

Melia Cayo Coco
Advantages: Adults Only
Disadvantages: No Shopping/Entertainment outside of the hotels
..."Adults Only " my travel agent said to me, and my face lit up, you see, I was going to Cuba on my own, and there was no way that I was going to spend my holiday being annoyed by noisy kids playing at the pool or shouting about on the beach.
No disrespect to people with children, I love kids, I just wanted peace and quiet for my two weeks away, basically I wanted to relax.
I arrived at the Hotel early afternoon Cuba time, after the 20 min coach ride from Cayo Coco Airport, and the lovely reception staff informed me that my room was currently being serviced and I would have to wait about half hour until I could enter, she informed me that my all-inclusive status started immediatly and that i could get a cocktail from the lobby bar whilst i waited, and thank the holiday gods - no rediculous armband!
I have chosen to stay in...

dream holiday at sol cayo coco
Advantages: everything was fantastic
Disadvantages: coming home
...I must tell every body about my fantastic holiday to cayo coco. This is a cuban island just off the mainland of cuba. Cayo Coco lies within Ciego de Avila Province and is linked to the mainland by an artificial causeway 27 kms long.
It is renowned for its luxurious all inclusive hotels.
It has its own airport called Jardin del Rey, in operation since 2005 making it quick and easy to get to hotel instead of flying to mainland first.
Approx 5-10 mins transfer to hotels in cayo coco.
SOL CAYO COCO HOTEL
Where do I start, absolutely fantastic and I recommend this hotel to all ages. All hotels in Cayo Coco are hotel based, no shops, bars or restaurants on the island other than those in hotels.
Perfect for a rest and relaxation holiday in breathtaking surroundings.
Dont get me wrong as you are not tied to your hotel as you can do...

pleasantly suprised!
Advantages: nice beaches, nice scenery, and fantastic staff!!!
Disadvantages: bugs! :) i dont like them too much personally :)
...consideration that Cayo Coco is an ISLAND linked to the mainland...it can almost be understood :) it was a lot of fun though!
The beaches are fantastic, the pool was a little cold(but again for January in Canada it would be frozen) and the ocean was really amazing, HUGE waves.
there were always lounge chairs available at the beach and the pool and there was always something to do, from spanish lessons, to salsa lessons, to volleyball...or simply relaxing.
We had the standard room and for an extra 39 CUC a night it wasnt worth it to me to upgrade.
The food: well...in my opinion it was absolutly great!
I have been to Cuba twice myself and i have learned not to have HUGE expectations, however, every time i am pleasantly suprised.
the buffett food was a TAD cold if you werent there as soon as it opened, but the selection was great, and there...

A great hotel if you're on a budget!
Advantages: Food, Pools, Beach 2 minutes away.
Disadvantages: Staff a bit hit and miss
...Me & my girlfriend went to Cuba in Jan/Feb 2008 staying in the Hotel Tryp, Cayo Coco. Before going we had read reviews, some very good, some not so good, however I like to make my own opinions.
Now after flying 8 hours plus to Cuba we landed in Cayo Coco and were quickly through customs and on the coach to the hotel. The rep joked that it would be another 3 hours, but truthfully it only took about 10 minutes. Cayo Coco we were told is part of a group of islands just north of main land Cuba and that they were mostly dominated by hotels! And from what we saw, it was very true. Anyway, we arrived at the hotel in double quick time and were checked in within about 5 minutes. The reception staff were all very friendly throughout the holiday and always willing to help. We were told to leave our bags with the porters who would bring them to...

GREAT TRYP!
Advantages: SUN SEA SAND AND ....GOOD FOOD!
Disadvantages: COMING HOME....
...I was luck enough to go to Cuba a short while ago (november 4th 2004) for 17 days at the fabulous tryp cayo coco, what a tryp it was!
This is the most amazing hotel and for those who say it isnt..you must be really hard to please...i read many reviews before i went so had very mixed feelings but when i arrived i was just blown away..a true all inclusive hotel with stunning beaches, great people, very friendly staff, excellant well equipped rooms, stunning views, great food ( especially the pasta! ) and i didnt get bit by one mossi!
we paid £799 each for 17 days so its real value for money too and i would go back in a flash, im going this year in fact!! same hotel same room everything!!
the room itselft was bright and airy with large patio windows and a little private balcony, which wasnt overlooked! we had a hot power shower usable...

beautiful resort on this fantasy tropical island
Advantages: beautiful beaches & scenery, friendly people, gorgeous weather!
Disadvantages: quieter part of cuba
...when me and my girlfriend were looking for a holiday last year, the carribbean was always the place i wanted to go, ever since i was little, so we got all the brochures and it was a very tough choice of which carribbean island to go to, they all looked amazing! A cruise was also a possibility for us, but we ultimately decided against the cruise because they weren't all inclusive we felt we would prefer to be on land and doing our own thing. We agreed to book for November because it's a good month for the caribbean. The price factor was the next thing we took in to consideration, we really wanted to spend under £1000 each, so we narrowed it down to the dominican republic and cuba, and in the end cuba won it after a lot more consideration simply because of the breathtaking white sandy beaches and scenery. We chose cayo coco resort...

Sol Cayo Guillermo Cuba Best Avoided
Advantages: Fantastic Beach
Disadvantages: Whole Hotel
...Have just returned from the Sol Cayo Guillermo. Both my Daughter and I returned with Food Poisoning after spending two weeks at the above resort,
The Food is terrible. The Plates are either chipped or are covered in food residue where they have not been washed properly. Hygiene standards are disgusting.
Chefs wiping their faces and noses with their hands then picking up and cooking food. They constantly refill the Bain Marie by just topping up the food that has been there all meal time.
The Al La Carte Restaurants are ok. Management do not care when you finally complain. Beds changed just once during the two week stay. My Daughter received several electric shocks from the Wall Lights one of them threw her across the room and she smashed an Ashtray. She tried to clean it up and cut her hand. The broken glass was under...

Cuba... Caribbean with a Difference.
Advantages: Tropical Paradise, Havana, All inclusive hotels.
Disadvantages: Scary Customs.
...Introduction
=
A few years ago my wife and I were walking from Rotterdam to Vienna. Unfortunately by the time we got to Cologne we received a call telling us we had been burgled back in the UK. Having to cut the trip short and being unwilling to resume the walk we decided to take a couple of weeks in the sun. Looking around for last minute deals we managed to find 10 days All Inclusive in Cuba for £449 a price I doubt you can get unless you are going very last minute (we left two days later).
Visas and Vaccinations
=
There were no visas necessary for entry and because US customs take a dim view of people who go to Cuba they stamp an insert for your passport that can be discarded (or kept) afterwards. If you are taking this as part of a larger tour then you cannot fly to Cuba from the USA, but will need...

Review of Varadero (Cuba)

Form an orderly Cu-ba!
Advantages: Varied destinations, great people
Disadvantages: Can be hard work at times
...carnivals at various times of the year.
Beach bums will love Varadero (from where you could easily take in at least a little of Havana on a day trip), Guardalavaca in the far east of the island and Cayo Coco with its white beaches and coconut palms in the north east. Cayo Coco is also the place to go to see flamingoes.
Santa Clara is the place where people wishing to learn a bit more about the revolution head. There is a massive monument to Che Guevara here and a museum dedicated to the revolution in addition to the unmissable Museo de la Revolucion in Havana.
Wildlife buffs should head to the Zapata peninsular which is great for bird-watching and the nearby Bay of Pigs from where some of the best scuba sites can be accessed.
GETTING AROUND
Independent travellers will find that Cuba is pretty easy to get round. Most buses...
