What to write on a cd-r?

Advantages: Cheap, Comes wrapped and with cases, and er... nice colour discs
Disadvantages: None really

...So about 2 years ago I popped into the local Asda, and saw these reduced to £1, so I thought I would get them as you can't go wrong for £1. And I didn't go wrong, they are really good. Now I buy them quite regularly. I mainly use CD-R's for music, and these give really good sound quality on my cd player. Reliability... I have had lots of CD-R discs that have come up with errors such as 'Disk Error' and others during the burning process, but the times that I have used these (which is a lot), what I can remember I haven't had that happen once. With a 48x speed the process is really quick, even burning a CD with the full 80 minutes taken up. Use? I use CD-R's mainly for music CDs and VCDs but you can use it for all sorts, e.g. Data, Photos, Copying Games (although that's illegal). These can only be used once, which means you can...

Another Day, Another CD-R

Advantages: Flawless, huge capacity
Disadvantages: None thus far

...I'm a bit confused. The picture on Ciao shows the CDR74, 650MB of this product but the description is that of the 700MB, CDR80 version. For the purpose of this review I'll go with Ciao's description - which is lucky because that's the one I own! I've recently completed a TDK CD-R review but when I saw that this alternative TDK product was listed on Ciao, I felt compelled to review this too. The Best Brand CD-R So Far

Advantages: So far they're 100% problem-free
Disadvantages: Never say never with CD-Rs

Advantages: Last a long time
Disadvantages: Only 4 Colours

CD-R Review

Advantages: Good brand,nice packaging
Disadvantages: nothing really

...I purchased a pack of these as i had many files on my PC to back-up. Seeing as they were reasonably priced,had cases and a well known brand, i thought i'd purchase them to test out. These are recordable CD's which mean that you can only write to them once and then that it is. If you are after Cd's that you can write to more than once then you are after CD-RW's however over time the quality degradeds quite quickly and also the price is a lot more for them. These particular Cd's are have a capacity of 700MB or 80 minutes. This means you can store files up to 700MB of space for data, or 80 minutes of audio. These can also write data at up to 52x which means that it can really burn some stuff fast however i would not recommend anyone to write data at this speed as it will not be as good quality and it will burn out the disks quicker...

...I recently managed to fill up my 80GB Hard drive with all sorts of rubbish and needed some CD's to store my information on. Usually I would buy them from Tesco's, but as I was In a hurry I popped into my local computer retailer (Northbridge Computers in Lowestoft) to see what he had available. All he had on this occassion was TDK CD-R80 discs. There was single CD's in cases, boxs of ten in cases and spindles of twenty-five and one hundred. I plummeted for the spindle of twenty-five as I wasn't rich enough at the time to buy the big fat one hundred spindle. ***Product*** The disc's themselves are light blue with a silver swirl on it. TDK CD-R80 is clearly stamped on it. There is plenty of room to write on them and they can store up to 700MB of data or 80 minutes recording time. I'm the Music Man

Advantages: Make CD's with the music you want
Disadvantages: Only an hour and 20mins of music

...When purchasing my new laptop, which was years ago now, there was one important feature to me and that was that it had to be able to write to CD's because if there's one hobby I have, and one thing I love, it's music. Whilst we are in an age of MP3's where CD's don't really matter when CD's do come into play is at parties (can't have everyone crowded around one iPod) and also in cars. Now there's a lot of pressure when deciding what to put on a CD for my car, but my dash compartment is slowly starting to make a collection. And what brand are these CD's? Well TDK CD-R80 of course! Word for word

Advantages: Reliable
Disadvantages: slightly more expensive than other brands

...It would appear from the shelves that CD's are going the way of the good old Vinyl, into obscurity and beyond. With the DVD probably now the main media for saving files to with the exception of those knacky little USB drives CD's seem to be harder to come by these days. It's shame really they have served us so well over the years, and none more so than Verbatim. I recently had cause to make a few audio CD's and therefore needed some media to put the music onto. I chose the 10 pack Verbatim CD-R 700Mb, which came in at around £5 on Amazon, not bad that's only 50p a disc. I know you can get cheaper versions, but in the past I've ended up throwing more of those type away than I have actually been able to get anything onto. ...As well as using Verbatim CDR disks, which I reviewed recently, I've also been using Sony. Th specific product is 10CDQ8ON, which is a box of 10 700Mb, 48x CDR disks. As usual, they come in a cardboard box, and each one has a full sized CD-jewel case to protect the CDR inside. Each case is shrink-wrapped in plastic, to prevent scratching of the case, and dust from getting into the product. As with most shrink wrapped products, a quick entry system is included, which generally allows you to get into the contents quickly enough. The cases are good quality clear plastic, including the inlay. The front cover of each disk is a green colour, with the Sony logo, and CD-r in large letters, as well as siez 700Mb / 80Min.
