It is in a fantastic location very close to the Passeig de Gracia and a short walk to Las Ramblas and the Barri Gotic (about fifteen minutes walk). The metro and trains get you anywhere you want to go in Barcelona and its only a five minute walk to the nearest station. The metro and trains are reasonably priced. Metro is 1 euro per ride. Train from airport to bottom of Arago was 6.50 euros each way. Hotel Balmes - great hotel in a great spot of Barcelona!

Advantages: *Great location to Metro stations *Modern, clean and comfortable furnishings *Good staff

...For those looking for a peaceful, laid-back and friendly hotel in the heart of Barcelona, this is the one. We arrived in the heat of a Summer's day, and were only too relieved to find our hotel foyer (and room) were eager to cool us down with their air con! The hotel immediately seemed worth more than it's 3 stars, with its marble foyer and art sculptures welcoming us in, as well as 2 friendly members of staff. They spoke a fair amount of English and were very keen to have someone take our bags up to our room which was much-needed on a hot day like that! Our room wasn't huge, but still an ample size for just 2 people. There were 2 single beds, a lovely leather armchair, a wardrobe with shelving, a safe, a flatscreen TV with about 15 channels, bedside tables, good lighting, drawers, air conditioning with controls and an ensuite bathroom...

Advantages: Fantastic design of the hotel, great location, great price, friendly staff, very clean hotel

Pension Miami Hotel, Barcelona, Spain.

Advantages: Close to centre, clean room, great staff, near great shops, cheap and clean!
Disadvantages: no view, alley way smells, people pee in alley way, noisy.

...pm had a couple of prostitutes (one lady who sat there everynight on the window-ledge of the little cafe). She was far too old to be doing what she was doing so we said 'Ola!' to her everyday! She was friendly, but not always 'together' some of the time! There are plenty of shops near the hotel that sell all you need (cheap litre bottles of vodka for 6 euro's!) The cafe (previously mentioned) is great for morning coffee and the staff are great! Overall we loved Barcelona so much that I want to go over there and live and work. You will love it. Watch out for bag pinchers (saw 1 near the hotel and nearly 1 on the Ramblas). If there is anything you want to know about the hotel or Barcelona feel free to ask!...

Hotel Lloret, Barcelona

Advantages: excellent, convienient location right on la Ramblas
Disadvantages: there werent any for me!

.... shower fine, on the small size! I would definitely go back to the hotel, and happily recomend it. getting there - we got cheap flights from Bournemouth with Ryanair (£26.50, + 18 ish euros for a return ticket on Barcelona Bus from Girona airport right into the city to the bus station - and back). Barcelona is one of my favourite cities - so full of life & variety yet i think it caters for all tastes - its got the beach, the Olympic stadium, Art & Gaudi & Dali, tango, tapas & tons more. My favs: palau de la musica - stunning, Bar Pastis - tango nights tues & thurs, Casa Mila (La Pedrera) - gaudi's chimneys so magical if you get as dusk is just coming (check opening times!). Just writing this, I know now, I will be going back & staying again at Lloret - Barcelona is my fix & i want more. Hope you enjoy it too....

Disadvantages: Not the friendliest staff, and pricey extras

...per the guidebook a taxi to your hotel shouldn't cost more than 30 Euros. There are also cheaper options of taking a bus or the metro. As soon as we arrived in reception to check out with our suitcases, we were offered the hotel limo for the same price as a taxi to the airport. We quickly adapted to 'Spanish time' and returned from dinner late for drinks on the 7th floor by the pool, listening to live Spanish music from11pm. Being pregnant, the friendly bar staff were very willing to find obscure soft drinks (and even hot chocolate) for me! The bar staff in contrast to recption were extremely friendly and accomodating. We only ate one meal in the restaurant, primarily because there are so many fantastic places to eat in Barcelona, but the meal was beautifully presented and producing bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was no...

Advantages: Perfect location, excellent Hotel if you just want somewhere to sleep
Disadvantages: A little hard to find, nothing really major though, Breakfast could have been more substantial

...Having decided over Christmas that I fancied a trip to Barcelona again I got onto the Ryanair website and started booking up. Having been to Barcelona a few years ago and staying well outside the main centre I decided that this time I wanted something quite central but also at a budget price. After all there was no way I could have afforded one of the posh 5 star hotels. Hotel Europark - Good Hotel

Advantages: Good location, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Customer lift wasn't working while there

...I went to Barcelona in January just gone with my mum, staying 3 nights at Hotel Europark on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel has recently been updated and now consists of 105 rooms across 8 floors. While we were staying they were still doing building work, it was of no inconvenience to us, the only difference is that both staff and customers had to use to the service elevator instead of the customer lifts. Prior to going I read that from the rooftop the hotel had 'unbeatable' views of the city, when we decided to go up their we heard the workmen when coming out of the elevator so decided against going out there.
