Central Park, Peterborough.

Advantages: An oasis in the city
Disadvantages: None that I know

...I have lived in Peterborough for 37 years, and the Central Park has always been the place to take your children, photos of the park go back to Victorian times and the actual layout has not changed since then. For one it cannot get any bigger as it is in the older central part of the city with buildings all around, though this does not distract from the Park itself. The Park is one large circle with a very wide road around the outside. There are four gates, entry points to the Park and about ten yards in an inner footpath that goes around the Park. The four gates all have footpaths that lead to the centre which is a large flower bed that has a willow tree, this my husband tells me was planted some time in the 60's as there used to be a band stand on the same spot. Park Central Hotel

Advantages: Superb location, comfortable accomodation, helpful staff
Disadvantages: No major disadvantages to the actual hotel itself

...In "the city that never sleeps," especially if you're visiting for the first time, it's all about site-seeing, shopping, and taking advantage of New York's endless amount of restuarants. So when choosing a hotel, it's all about location! I took my first ever visit to New York (and certainly not my last, taking into consideration the amazing time I had there) in February 2007, for a school trip, and stayed in Park Central Hotel. FIRST IMPRESSIONS I was delighted when we first arrived at the Park Central hotel - the immaculate lobby and reception area, with brown leather sofas and sparkling floor tiles, was classy and modern. Central Park away from hussle and bustle

Advantages: Good to get away from crowds of people
Disadvantages: Can't walk in at night

...I only spent half a day in Central park and it definately wasnt long enough. Not living in a city myself I felt it strange being in a park and seeing skyscaper buildings all at the same time.The place is alot bigger than I had initially thought. I got a horse and carriage ride through central park which I thought was nice however it wasnt a very long trip on it maybe 10 or 15mins maximum. I could have walked around the ciruit they go however our carriage driver did give us some information on the sights that we seen. I was on the bridge they use in the film Home Alone which was nice to see plus I seen the skating rink however we could not go on it as it had been raining and it was not safe to do so.This would only be interesting if you like seeing where they have filmed things. If not it is just a nice walk away from the hussle...

Central Park Zoo

Advantages: Great
Disadvantages: None

...We went to the central park zoo when we were in New York the other week. It was a lot of fun and the animals were beautiful. it was obvious that the animals were very hot though and this came across quite cruel. Any way, the animals looked well looked after, but due to the heat I did think that they would be a little too hot. The snow leopard was gorgeous, she was the most gorgeous animal that I have ever seen. She spent most of the time trying to hide from the heat, but we still got some amazing pictures of her. An amazing zoo, one that I would recommend that you check out if you get to the states, it is cheap as well at only $8. parkfielsd-2006...

Skating in Central Park

Advantages: Fun
Disadvantages: Cold, pain

...New York gets cold, very cold. It also gets windy which, when it's cold, makes it colder. You can either hide under the duvet some time in December and refuse to come out until April, or you can get out and make the most of the cold. New Yorkers have two skating rinks in Central Park to help you make the most of the cold. The Lasker rink at the north end of the park converts from a swimming pool in the summertime. It is however, less popular, and less safe particularly at night than the Wollman Rink. The Wollman Rink is one you've probably seen before, even if you've never set foot in New York City. It's the rink across which the baddies chased our hero in Home Alone 2, and is currently on the silver screen in the romantic comedy Serendipity. The UK's most thrilling theme park

Advantages: Masses of extreme and thrilling rides, great fun day out
Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted, not so great for younger children

...Thorpe Park has to be my best pick for theme park days out in the UK as it's not far from my home and it hosts some of the best rides and thrills of any theme park. The park is located in Surrey, about 20 miles out of central London. The easiest way to get there is probably by car as you can park in the theme park's own car park. However, train is also easy and takes around an hour from central London with regular trains travelling from Waterloo to Staines and then a quick bus ride from the station to the park. The park is filled chock-a-block with extreme rides which is why this is my favourite park, as I find it caters more for adults, whereas Chessington is more for kids. The extreme thrills include Colossus - the world's first ten looping rollercoaster; Stealth - Europe's fastest rollercoaster; Nemesis Inferno...

A walk in the Park....

Advantages: A wonderful place with so much to see and do
Disadvantages: You need to spend at least a day to see it all

...No visit to New York would be complete without a stroll in Central Park. This 843 acre park stretches from 59th St at it's southern most point to 110 St in the north - some 51 blocks! The park like any big city park provides an oasis of peace and quiet sometimes needed in a hectic city. It is only once you are in the park it's self you realize how big it is and peaceful. Only when you look at the tree line do you realize as you see the Skyscrapers peering throw that you are indeed still in a major city. But it definitely offers that much needed tranquility as well as some wonderful sights to see. If you compare it with say Hyde Park in London then it shines out as a park that has something for everyone and you'll understand why New Yorkers are so proud of their oasis in the madness that is New York. Absolutely magical

Advantages: Lots of things to see and do, beautiful park

...On our recent trip to New York we were lucky enough to have some snow - well actually it was a snow storm and the worst snow they've had in years! But even though it was freezing and we could hardly walk properly due to all the layers of clothes we were wrapped in, Central Park covered in snow made you completely forget everything else. It really was so amazing and magical and I was glad of the freezing weather because we got to witness this. We walked through the park from the Downtown side and everything was just completely white. Everywhere kids were playing in the snow and riding in sledges down the hills and it really was truly amazing. Inside the park there are plenty of things to do and see. Covering 843 acres and 6% of Manhattan, it's pretty huge. We were in the park for a total of about 2 hours and we only got about half way...

Central Park gone mad.

Advantages: Fast Paced, different, tension and drama
Disadvantages: A little boring at the start.

...Cloverfield is a strange film. We rented the DVD along with a whole batch of others as a Blockbuster Special deal. I suppose it was because the films were so cheap to rent that Hubby and I chose quite a diversity of films. I had read a little about Cloverfield but Hubby knew nothing of the film at all. I thought that it sounded his sort of film but actually I guess I enjoyed it more than he did. The packaging of the DVD certainly looks interesting with an eerie green coloured shot of New York from behind a headless Statue of Liberty. Beautiful

Advantages: Quiet and relaxed compared to the rest of New York
Disadvantages: You dont get to see it all

...On going to New York everyone who had been had told me you just have to go and see Central Park and all I could think was whats the big deal? Its just a bigger then usual park right?.....WRONG! It's not just big it's massive, we walked around there for hours and still I dont think we even managed to get round half of it.
