Centro Hotel, very central
Advantages: Pleasant staff, good size room, cheap, quiet
Disadvantages: breakfast
...I stayed in the Hotel centro when i went to Florence towards the end of 2006. It is located in a superb spot within walking distance from the station which was a first advantage.
The hotel itself is based upstairs over a supermarket which closes at around 10 at night and is down a quieter back street therefore it is a reasonably quiet street, meaning you get a good nights sleep.
On arrival you have to buzz in, so a receptionist, who are on 24 hours, can let you into the building. You go upstairs to the small reception desk. The 3 different receptionists that were on were all very pleasant and spoke both Italien and English which made checking in a very easy process. This took a couple of minutes and then i was directed to my room.
The room was a large room, with very high ceilings and 2 single beds. The room came with a tv...

A good phone, if a little confusing.
Advantages: Good looks and robust feel make this a definite improvement. Useful and reliable smartphone.
Disadvantages: Irritating on/off switch. Can be confusing at first.
...Palm have always been known for their business phones and the centro does not disappoint. It is much less bulky and easier to hold than previous models and may therefore appeal to the more style conscious business person.
The Centro retains the same operating system as previous Palm's and this can be a little confusing at times, it is not especially flash and often looks rather retro however it is a solid system which works well. The camera is not great quality but this is a phone designed for business and on that you cannot fault it; the calender and other applications make it easy to organise yourself and the contact list is extensive with the opportunity to associate many details with each contact.
One small issue is that the on/off button can be pressed unintentionally but again it is simply a case of getting used to it...

Exploring the Spanish Avantgarde
Advantages: Comprehensive collection of 20th Century Spanish masters
Disadvantages: Ridiculous examples of Minimal "Art"
...The Museum Reina Sofia contains the most complete collection worldwide of famous 20th Century Spanish masters such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí, and is worth an extensive visit when travelling to Madrid.
The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, so its full name, is one of the three famous museums of fine art in Madrid, a trio which includes the Museo del Prado and the Museo Thyssen Bornemisza.
I have discussed the Thyssen Bornemisza at length in my previous opinion, and have recommended it as an introduction to fine arts for the novice. That's because its collection of Impressionism and Expressionism is rather easy to comprehend and enjoy.
The third and most famous is the Museo del Prado which covers the earlier periods of Renaissance, Baroque and Rokoko, and culminates in the collection of Spanish masters...

Cheap and oh so cheerful
Advantages: Central, friendly, good food, great prices
Disadvantages: can't get there often enough
...popular establishment is the warm welcome and super friendly service offered by the family, for whom nothing is too much trouble. We were immediately recognised when we approached the restaurant in May, following our earlier stay at the resort in October of 2001. This sort of genuine appreciation is so welcoming and in my opinion, goes a long way to contributing to the success of a holiday.
Yes, my heartfelt thanks to all at the Sancho Panza... we will return and for any readers visiting the resort of Calas de Mallorca in the near future, give it a try... you will not be disappointed.

The Beautiful Girl and the Penis Bowl
Advantages: Good weather. And some different ice creams.
Disadvantages: Not much else
..., but still, a hotel with its own ice cream place is pretty cool. The city does have "proper" restaurants but none appealed to me enough to visit on my own, especially since their prices are out of proportion with other things in the city. My best find was a big supermarket - Mas Y Menos - on Avenida Central. I love supermarkets. I also found another couple on Calle 3, just north of the Plaza de la Cultura.
SHOPPING
Shopping is not the reason you go to San Jose. With time to kill before our welcome meeting I went to explore El Pueblo, the Centro Comercial on my map. It was deader than dead but still reminded me weirdly of Ports O'Call in San Pedro. After being harranged by an over-enthusiastic shop owner (the only one, enthusiastic or otherwise, in the place), I ran away, and quickly. The shops along Avenida Central are fine, but...

A Branch of Heaven
Advantages: Avila Mountain, Gastronomy, Latin Flavor
Disadvantages: Crime, Unsafe.
...Carreño Theather) in Downtown, is worth seeing. MACCSI has a collection of Picasso, Miró, Botero and very valuable impresionist artworks !!
You should visit El Hatillo, in the outskirts of Caracas. It is a colonial and charming town, in which you can find a wide variety of handicrafts and taste an exquisite dinner (eat a pizza !!). In fact, you might say that El Hatillo is inside Caracas Area but preserves his colonial architecture.
If you find a friend in Caracas with a car, please, ask him/her to drive to peripheral routes (Lagunita-Alto Hatillo-Los Naranjos) You?ll see beautiful views of the city lights from the top of the hills.
Don?t forget to go to dinner in a restaurant of Centro Comercial El Mirador (San Roman) or Los Naranjos Plaza. It will be quite remarkable to dinner Italian cuisine or sea food with candlelights, a cup...

Phatt tunes
Advantages: Turn around
Disadvantages: the live thing?
...Mr Phatts and Mr Small along with Big Ben first took the nation and its clubs, by storm with turn around. A very happy song which summed up the summer along with the other anthems of the year. I loved this tune but I must confess the comerciality made it a bit crappy after a while. Feel good the follow up was in my opinion was better! Does it feel good to you like a disco to you. Yeah this is the summer anthem. Tonite was a bit of a let down though!...

Hmm
Advantages: No ads
Disadvantages: Fee, and excessive sports coverage
...Well, lets start with the TV license. It costs us to view the BBC channels because the government wants to provide a service which has no adverts and is thought to be good for you.
Good things about BBC1 is that there are no adverts well, not comercial ones as they are not allowed to show them, but they are allowed to show informative ones.
Quality of programs on this channel are ok, mainly a news channel.
It is quite annoying however, when they do excessive coverage of sports on BOTH BBC1 and BBC2!!! So in the end your stuck watching the other channel.
Well, I think the fee should go down, or dissappear alltogether!...

Commercial Zone
Advantages: This is not a love song
Disadvantages: Kill The Bloody Horn Section
...It was the 80's and no-one escaped unscathed not even John Lydon. This album was originaly titled Comercial Zone but former guitarist Keith Levene had ran off with the matser tapes and released it, causeing much licencing problems. The Album was re-recorded by drummer Martin Atkins and John Lydon, and a host of session musicians, the result is on the hole pretty disapointing considering the standard of the three previous releases by PIL.
Take "Bad Life" as an example the combination of Atkins tribal Drumming and Lydons Vocal would have been perfectley good by itself but it has terribly produced 80's horns splatered throughout it, and really sums up the 80's for me too much tinkering in the studio and not enough thought. Though it is not all bad with the superbly tounge in cheek "This Is Not A Love Song" whih plows the same musical...
