GHD Ceramic Straighteners *** UPDATED***

Advantages: Quick to heat up, good result, easy to use

Disadvantages: Absolutely none - unless you're accident prone!

...my hairdresser, a friendly young girl who loves a natter and a bit of gossip. I told her that my sister's wedding was coming up and I'd really like to take control of my hair so that it looked half decent for the photographs. She washed and trimmed my hair as normal and then added some l'Oreal Protective Hair Serum. Only a small amount, about the size of a grape. This was stroked in from the roots downwards and the hair then blow dryed until it was completely dry. Taking out a slim pair of black ceramic straighteners she then gently ran the blades down the top layer of hair from about half way down, where the kinks start, to the ends. She hardly pressed the straighteners on to the hair at all and the whole process was extremely quick and totally painless. My hair felt extremely soft afterwards, appeared very straight...

Advantages: Heats up quickly
Disadvantages: Takes a while to cool down before you can put away.

...Excellent Straightener, heats up very quickly, no waiting. Has an on off switch on the handle so that you can wait until the last minute to switch on and heat up. It also signals to you when ready to use with a beeping noise and flashing LED. The ceramic plates are hotter than others I have used and very versitile, can be used to make soft curls, tight curls or to add volumn to your style. The straighten effect is long lasting and does not require much effort to use, the beauty of heating up quickly is that you can refresh your style easily later in the day should you need to. Overall I would recommend these compared to others that I have tried....

SOLID CERAMIC Straighteners on a budget

Advantages: very good value for money
Disadvantages: cheap looking, slight gap when closed

...I bought these straighteners from QVC for about £20 when they had a tsv (todays special value) in December. I was a bit wary due to how cheap they were, surely they wouldn't be any good? I have been pleasantly surprised however. The Company which distribute these straighteners is called HoMedics, Complementary Healthcare Company in Manchester www.complements.co.uk. They are a reputable company who sell various health and beauty products including magnetic therapy things (also sold on QVC). When I discovered this my confidence in the product increased. The straighteners are made in China (as most other straighteners are) and distributed by HoMedics through QVC and other online sellers. BEST Straighteners Ever

Advantages: Polished; High Quality Straightening Irons. The Original & The Best
Disadvantages: lack of adjustable temperature (only available in the Salon Size),

...I 've owned these for over 3 years now and; besides having to wipe them over with a wet wipe every few weeks; they are my most valued possession and I couldn 't be without them! I still have the original box they arrived in and everything is still shiny and new. The GHDs work well on even the curliest of hair, and I 'd recommend they work best when you have washed your hair the day before; straightening as close to the root as possible as they are very good at spreading the hair's natural oils through the hair; creating a gorgeous liquid shine effect! I have not used the GHD accompanying products but I do know that Lee Stafford Poker Straight Mist is an optimal product to spray on your hair before using the GHDs. As for curling with them; I wouldn 't recommend as it is tricky; and fiddling about with such a hot (200degrees) element...

...I absolutly adore my GHD straighteners! They are some of the best money i have ever spent. The GHDS look really professional and stylish. I think that these straighteners probably work best when used with heat defence spray, simply because they heat up to such a high temperature that your hair can become like straw if you use them everyday. These are also great for creating curls and waves really quickly and easily. And i have found that these styles last for ages! When you use these to straighten you can expect your hair to be poker straight in a matter of minutes. They are amazing i tell you! The only disadvantage of these i would say is that they are really quite expensive, although they will last for a long time....

Brilliant Budget Hair Straighteners

...What can i say absolutley superb i went for years with very thick wavy frizzy and dull looking hair i was like a hair bear !!! It wasn't until i had tried every straightener on the market to no avail that i finally splashed out on a pair of ghd straighteners (£90) i know i know i was nuts but believe me i have never looked back they turned my hair from frizzy and dull to sleek and shiny in under 15 minutes !!! i was shocked but absolutley delighted i no longer looked like i had got out of bed and gone out without brushing my hair ! i spent the next couple of days de -frizzing all of my friends . who all now own there own pair i have now owned these for 3 years and they are still in immaculate condition . ...These straighteners are simply amazing!!! I was at first a bit weary of the price of the GHD's. But after trying out other straigteners with no success, i bought the GHD's, and it was the best thing i had ever bought! My old straighteners were £30 revelon's. It hurt my scalp as the irons pulled at my hair while straightening, my hair always looked messy and dull after and within a couple of hours my hair returned to the wavy frizzy state it was when i woke up. But the GHD's were completely different! While straightening the ion's heat up within seconds and glide smoothly over your hair without tugging or pulling. You can notice the difference immediately! My hair was now smooth sleek and silky smooth and long lasting! I highly recomend this product even though the price is high you will definately not regret it when you look in...
