The Best Street in the World

Advantages: Great place to start your trip
Disadvantages: Need good walking shoes and a pack of plasters

...It has got to be said the Champs Elysees has to be the best Street in the World! I have just come back from an absolutely fantastic time spent on a weekend in Paris - one of the best parts of my trip there was looking down the Champs Elysees from the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Something I will never forget - and will treasure the photo I took of that view! The view is absolutely fantastic - a birds eye view of not only the Champs Elysees but of the whole of Paris strectching over to the Effiel Tower. It certainly is a must-see when visiting Paris. Once you pull yourself away from the dizzy heights of the Arc de Triomphe - be prepared to shop til you drop on the Champs Elysees - and remember to pick your lower jaw up off the floor at the magnificant shops that are there to be seen and explored - everything you could want from...

Wide, Magnificent et Beautiful

Advantages: Wide, magnificent et beautiful (as the title suggests)
Disadvantages: Quite long and so many attractions on the way so may take rather long time

...Walking down the Champs Elysee in a sunny day is just the perfect thing to do in Paris. We started from the other end of the Concord. It is uphill and you can just see l'arc de triumphe on the other side of hill and you just feel that you had to walk down there - a little experience of how Napoleon felt when he rode here (although the other way round!) At the first half of the street there are not much but paths to parks at either side and I think there was a palace-like building. There were the French Parasols down both sides of the road and it did remind me of London (can't remember its name but the one down to the parliament - I think). Then shops starts to come on both sides - perfume shops, cafes, cinemas and even garages (of Peutgeot and Citron)! The one I loved most is the Peutgeot garage (believe it or not!) coz there...

Advantages: Very roomy, Comfortable, Very Economical

...We own a 1995 Renault Espace 2.1td, It is the Champs Elysees model, This model is fitted with very comfortable Pilot seats that swivel round to face the back of the car, The drivers seat once turned round to face the rear has a lock at the bottom which you lock so that the seat can not be turned back round without the key, It is an antitheft method which i think works great. This model also comes with Air Con which is great on any hot or cold day. It is fitted with Electric windows in the front but wind down windows in the back, which was a bit of a put of at first but never the less are cheaper to repair if the mechanism breaks, It has electric mirrors and central locking that works from the key fob. If you want a car with a lot of space then this is for you, All the seats are easily removed within 5 minutes or if you dont want to...

A must see in Paris!!

Advantages: Situated in the center of Paris, so offers a good view of most parts of the city.
Disadvantages: there might be a long line to go to the top

...A gift to Paris from Napoleon and situated in the middle of Paris, I think it's a great architectural piece, very detailed from up close, the ceiling of the arch is absolutely beautiful, the entire arch and most of the outside is sculpted. Napoleon wanted to celebrate the victories and courage of the French armies. If you do go see it, you will see the resting place of an unknown solider who died during the World War I and who was never identified. It symbolizes the soldiers and civilians who died during the war. The Arc is located at the beginning of the Avenue des Champs Elysees, therefore it's a good idea to visit the Arc de Triomphe on a day you planned to do some shopping. That will save you some time. Also, you should really go up to the top of the Arc, you will have a very good view of Paris due...

Decapitated history

Advantages: Central, bustling, historic site.
Disadvantages: Noisy, dirty, dangerous traffic.

...Place de la concorde is a historic centre point to Paris. Standing at the opposite end of the Champs Elysees it is a site many visitors to Paris will see. However, it's history to me seems lost. On my last visit to Paris I stayed near the Place de la Concorde and ended up waling around the place almost every day on my way to other places. Sadly, all the other places were more worthy of a visit. History tells us this was a main centre of executions during the French Revolution. The guillotine dramatically dropped in this very square hundreds of times. The crowd cheered as class fought class and the underdog won. I challenge anybody to capture that sense of history hear now. Close your eyes (briefly please ... any longer would be dangerous!). Try hard to hear the crowd and see the guillotine slicing through the air and the neck. You...
