Another Chanel classic - Coco Mademoiselle

Advantages: Elegant
Disadvantages: Pricey

...I was given some vouchers for House of Fraser a year or two ago and decided I would use them to get some new perfume as I had recently finished a couple of bottles. So I decided to look at what was 'hot' on the makeupalley site and coco mademoiselle was in the top five so I thought I would look into that. Turns out it is an incredibly popular fragrance. Apparently Chanel designed this perfume because they felt that people viewed their Coco perfume as being for a more mature market and they thought they were missing out on the younger section of society so they decided to use Coco as inspiration and redesign it with a fresh new take. Chanel, Coco Mademoselle

Advantages: Suitable for day or evening wear

...I have always liked the Chanel range of perfumes but felt that because they are quite heavy and spicey they are only really suitable for evening time. However, recently Chanel have launched a lighter more flowery perfume called Coco Mademoselle. Because it is quite pricey at between £45 and £60 a bottle I could not justify buying it for myself. So I was delighted when my staff who obviously think I am just a wonderful boss bought me some for Christmas!! This fragrance appears to appeal to both male and females as I have had many compliments whilst wearing it. It also has great staying power, usually most perfumes will dissappear half way through the day however, I find that I prefer to use it as an evening perfume probably due to the fact that it is so expensive and I want it to last as long as possible. Chanel No. 5 - eternal Femininity.

Advantages: sensual and feminine floral hart, good staying powder
Disadvantages: aldehydes - not everyone is used to this smell; can be found old-fashioned

...Chanel No. 5 will always remain a controversial perfume. Although used and praised for decades it's still a love or hate fragrance. I think it's because of aldehydes, the most important constituents of this fragrance. They possess a waxy, fatty smell that often makes think on washed and dried clothe. Aldehydes are found in nature (for example in a citrus peel), but never in amounts used in Chanel No. 5. That makes this smell a bit unnatural from one side, but it also gives an interesting exotic twist. In my opinion EDP is much softer than EDT version - the aldehydes are less sharp and the floral bouquet is more prominent. On my skin it starts with a fresh citrus note that slightly fades into a floral hart of orange blossom, rose and jasmine. An ultimate feminine bouquet, but modernized with waxy sharpness of the aldehydes...

Chanel Vitalumiere foundation - best foundation I have ever used!

Advantages: Has yellow based tones, Light, Non-caking, Non-heavy, non-powdery. Suits all skin types

However, I found that these were really obvious on my skin because they caked and were available in the wrong colours for my skin. I am oriental, with lightly tanned skin. I am a student and my skin is combination/oily. I get moderate acne on my cheeks, and my pores are huge! In other words, I hate my skin texture. Foundation is a problem. I thought that 'vitalumiere', to do with shine, would make my skin much more oily, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was given a tester, a tiny bottle, at the airport when I went on holiday. It was the 'fluide' version, the liquid/bottle version. Two tips: 1. USE A BRUSH. It does not really matter what kind; using no brush is a disaster and makes foundation look obvious, in my opinion.
