A Change Not Quite as Good as the Rest

...The Sugababes are one of those groups that I've always had a quiet enjoyment of, but never enough to really become a fan. After all, a little like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones back in the 1960s, it seems you could either be a fan of the Sugababes or Girls Aloud but not both and my colours have been firmly pinned to the Girls Aloud mast for some time. Except in the case of the recent version of "Walk This Way" they combined to do for Comic Relief, at which point I wanted to kill them all. However, when it was announced that the Sugababes were coming to town as part of their "Change" tour, I agreed to go along to accompany a friend. Before the day came around, I thought I had best get an idea of what I'd let myself in for before I went, so I gave the album that the tour had been named after a listen and was pleasantly surprised...

A change of heart - a change for life!

Advantages: fantastic absorbing read
Disadvantages: none

...From the very first page I was absorbed in Jodi Picoult's latest novel 'Change of Heart' It tells the story of Shay Bourne, who was convicted of the double murder of a police officer and his step daughter eleven years ago. He was sentenced to die by lethal injection and now that all appeals are used up and his death is imminent, he wants to be able to do one final thing in order to make some sense of his life. The wife and mother of the victims is June Nealon, and if she had not already witnessed enough tragedy in her life, her younger daughter Claire is seriously ill and will die unless a heart transplant takes place. Shay hears of her plight whilst watching a local news programme and offers his heart to Claire. Disadvantages: Definitly female fiction- probably would not appeal to men.

Time to change to something more readable

Advantages: Readable enough
Disadvantages: Characters boring, sub-plot absolutely ridiculous, I found it difficult to read

Sugababes Change for the better

...I rushed to HMV after university to buy "Change" and was very excited, wishing I could listen to it on the bus on the way back! I flicked through the booklet to see if we had some pretty new pictures of the girls. My personal favourite was the picture of Amelle. I think that Keisha's picture was far too zoomed in, and I didn't like the yellow jumper thing around Heidi's waist. However, all three babes looked stunning as usual! I also liked the final group shot in the booklet, and the effects of writing one letter of Sugababes on each page. I was especially glad that SUGABABABES didn't make an appearance, as it looks stupid. I put the CD in to my player the second I got home, and the now familiar sounds of About You Now echoed around my room. Changing baby time!

Advantages: large, easy to store
Disadvantages: not very padded

...Okay so here's another product I didn't realise you could write more than a few words on before I had Baby B! To look at a changing mat it looks quite simple really, nothing to it, but there are many subtle differences between the ones out there believe me! We originally bought this one as it looked to be very substantial as it was slightly larger than the others and it was plastic coated so easy to wipe down. The design is gingham checks too so it was fairly neutral to go with our neutral coloured nursery. This mat is typical of a changing mat as it's covered in a plastic covering which makes it very hygienic as it's easy to just wipe clean with an anti-bacterial wipe afterwards. It's also really useful as it's waterproof so when accidents happen-which lets face it is very frequently during a change- it doesn't soak into...

Please!! Don't Change

Advantages: One of the best pop albums of the year
Disadvantages: None spring to mind

Deluxe changing for baby!

Advantages: Lovely design. Comfy.

...The 'Roundabout' nursery décor range at Mama's & Papa's is a funky, modern range, available in pink (with the main characters being 2 bunnies) for girls, & blue (with the main characters being 2 dogs) for boys. After finding out 'bump' was blue, I opted for the latter....! Since I love contemporary, minimalist style the nursery had to be the same way, but whilst still looking like a baby's room. This range fitted the bill perfectly, although it took a few weeks of shopping around to reach the conclusion that the extortionate M&P prices were worth it.... The changing mat is one of the 'deluxe' range as M&P term it. They do sell standard changing mats at reasonable prices, but the deluxe range tends to co-ordinate with one of the many décor ranges & come with additional features.
