...I have been considering writing a review of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) for some time but have refrained; worried that it may be biased by factors outside of the airports hands. However, having had an 'unforgettable' trip through the airport on a day trip a couple of weeks ago, I felt it was time to put down my opinions! CDG is one of a group of airports around the capital city of France, along with Orly, Le Bourget and Beavaus, but is the most likely point of origin for travellers from the UK. It was opened in 1972 as Le Bourget could not cope with the demands of modern aviation and has quickly become one of the busiest and most diverse airports in the world. Situated 2.5km from the CDG airport, this 304 room hotel is perfect for families on a budget. The prices are standard for Ibis htoels, with a room costing between 66-84 Euros (£45-56) during the week - depending on the time of year and 66 Euros (£45) at weekends. Disadvantages: Crowded, Complicated, Aged, Unfriendly Staff

...An interesting point to note is that Charles De Gaulle was quite well known for his dislike of the English!:) Anyway, jokes aside, I flew to this airport last summer for a short holiday at Disneyland Paris (I have placed a flight review under 'BMI Baby') and, like at most airports, the experience was not pleasant! CHECK-IN For the return leg of the journey was somewhat confusing. The check-in hall is vast and, like most of the airport, seems to work in a sort of circle. The main problem was that there was not sufficient space to queue. Whichever way the queue wen away fromt he desk it seemed to stick out into a busy area, with frustrated travellers desperately trying to navigate the airport with huge trolleys of cases. Charles de Gaulle Paris, its ohh la la - not

Advantages: you can leave to almost anywhere in Europe, good shops
Disadvantages: miles and miles to walk

...store). Catch the Air France bus outside Gate 34 for a 115 franc round trip to the Congress Centre or the Arc de Triomph or take the RER train for the same price. If you want to go to The Opera then the Roissybus will do the trip as well for the same rough price. its worth a stop at the tourist info desk on the way out - I found the staf eccellent for hotel accomodation but it maybe a good idea to wait to get to the city before deciding on which tour to take - I found them expensive and for some you can do it just as well on foot for a third of the price....

The Blue Girl - Charles De Lint

Advantages: Original story and quirky interesting characters
Disadvantages: Main characters are teenagers so may not appeal to more mature readers

...on Lord of the Rings fantasy experience then this probably isn't for you. However I loved the Lord of the Rings and still found this entertaining if a much watered down version of the usual books in this genre, which understandibly it has to be considering the audience that it is aimed at. Amazon have stated the age group for this novel is 12-16 years. But I would really say this would be for the older end of the teenage market as some of the themes dealt with are not really for young readers. If you enjoy urban fantasy then I think you will find this an entertaining read. As well as writing, Charles De Lint is also a Celtic Folk musician together with his wife Maryann. He has written over 60 books so far. He was born in the Netherlands and currently lives in Ottawa, Canada. Although I haven't read any of his other books, apparently...

We live in Scotland so to go by ferry, car or eurotunnel would with 3 young children be an absolute nightmare, not to mention expensive.
