Charlotte Bingham

Advantages: Interesting Person
Disadvantages: none

...Charlotte Bingham. Charlotte was born in Haywards Heath , her actual memories was not particularly there in West Sussex but at her grandparents home in Ireland where she was taken to by her Nanny when she was about three it was Bangor Castle in North Ireland. So this was where she had remembered mostly and also the influence of several of her novels where there settings were in large country houses. Her schooling was first of all in London then to a small school where she was born from the age of 6-16 years of age which was in the Sussex Downs which became an important part of her life particularly as she found she loved the sea and several of her books included the sea as well as the countryside. When she was sixteen she went to Paris and stayed on the Left Bank with a French family who were French aristocrats to learn...

FREE DVDs

Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review

...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them. ∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊ Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Review of Good Morning Revival - Good Charlotte

It would take a great deal to crush me, said Charlotte

Advantages: Thought-provoking and original in its portrayal of the subject
Disadvantages: A little over-analytical in the later stages

...It is hardly surprising that the lives of the Brontë sisters (and brother) have attracted so many biographers, and the story of their short existences and premature deaths has been told many a time. Where this new account by Lyndall Gordon differs from what has already been published is in exploring Charlotte's life from a more feminist viewpoint than that of the apparently downtrodden novelist, who in the words of her contemporary and first biographer Mrs Gaskell was ?a valiant woman made perfect by sufferings.? Naturally the life takes up a good proportion of the book. Gordon paints the familiar, unhappy picture well ? the family growing up in unhealthy Haworth on the Yorkshire moors, where there was polluted water and no sewers, and where the average life expectancy was around 25. She leads the reader through the early deaths of Mrs...

Bad Charlotte

Advantages: Take The CD out of its case and it will make a good frisbee
Disadvantages: You could take somones eye out with the frisbee

...Having known of Good Charlotte for quite a while and finding some of there previous material quite good I don?t know what I expected from this album. But I didn?t expect an album full of the same beat, standard guitaring and lyrics which are just lacking inspiration(Even if thy do have meaning). GC are one of the bands which have largely promoted pop punk(along with the likes of busted) and not the good kind of pop punk either(Like Not By Choice and New Found Glory) but the kind of pop punk which has a fan base of 12 year old girls who scream for the front man and think they are right rebels for listening to this kind of music. The singing is this album is very exaggerated, the singers voice has become a lot more annoying then it was in the previous album. The lyrics seem to have meaning and in a couple of songs the lyrics are...

Review of Young And The Hopeless, The [ECD] - Good Charlotte

Good Charlotte get 'Predictable'

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...Good Charlotte come across as the musical version of Marmite - you either love em or hate em, with the musical press showing absolutely no faith in the band nor their music, it has been left to their overflowing fan base to silence the critics. The band themselves have made public notice that they have absolutely no interest in what the media have to say and simply let the fans pass judgement on each new release, all of which have sold a cool 15 million to date. The latest release however, is the true test of the bands staying power and the first to truly divide their fans in opinion - with mixed reaction from any number of GC addicts worldwide. One scan of a search engine will find fans split straight down the middle, either in appreciation of this ?masterpiece?, or (and I should say the majority) seeing the album as a u-turn in...

...`·.,¸¸,.·´Charlotte in Wonderland`·.,¸¸,.·´ ¨¨°ºo§oº°¨¨¨¨°ºo§oº°¨¨¨¨°ºo§oº°¨¨ Wednesday February 21, 2007 09:22 - cloudy Time - 5°c ¨¨°ºo§oº°¨¨¨¨°ºo§oº°¨¨¨¨°ºo§oº°¨¨ This morning, the cold under the window which wishes to be heated, the misty time which has this obscured atmosphere of february and seems to show that the sky seems still deadened. Then, to change this typically Parisian, animated week, tightened and stressed in its mechanized undergrounds, the return to a state of calm, to softness, the appeasing is not long in arising. The coffee with smoking milk, evaporating its soft perfume, the touched crusty one of laminated of the crescent, however common, acclimatizes me in a kind of relieving before the confrontation. But if all that functions so well, it is that there remains a thing essential to mingle...

Review of 5:55 - Charlotte Gainsbourg

My favourite Charlotte Bronte novel

Advantages: Fantastic characters, shows Bronte's ability to the optimum
Disadvantages: Won't appeal to those who don't like this type of classic

...It's a credit to a book and it's author when you can read it, re-read it, write a long essay for A level coursework on it and still love it. While people tend to see Jane Eyre as Charlotte Bronte's masterpiece, I think that this is a better novel, a better story and shows what a talented write Charlotte is. It's a shame I could only give it 5 stars - it's worth more. What struck me most is the feminism in this novel, especially when the independent Shirley is contrasted with Caroline, who worries about becoming an old maid. It's vital to remember that Charlotte was writing in one of the most anti-feminist eras of history and that even the relatively-mild Jane Eyre was criticised for having a female character with strong emotion and opinions. Shirley is a free spirit who acts like a boy because her parents 'gave me a boy's name' (hard...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...
