...When Mr Tart and I went to the Loire Valley castle hunting I knew that I definitely wanted to visit Chenonceau. It's one of the castles that really said Loire to me as it seems to be one that's often used to illustrate the area. SOME HISTORY: Chateau de Chenonceau was originally a fortified castle built in the 1430s. In the early 1500s the castle was purchased by Thomas Bohier who demolished the fortified castle (apart from one tower) and began the building we see today. Unfortunately for Bohier his castle was seized by Francois I after Bohier's son failed to pay a debt. Francois's son Henry II then gave the castle to his mistress, Diane de Poitiers. Diane extended the castle to include an arched bridge across the river. When Henry II died (a splinter from a joust went into his eye and he died from the infection - yuk!) his wife...

Advantages: Inexpensive, amazing sea views, walking distance into town
Disadvantages: Scruffy and run down, little atmosphere, very quiet

...on the home page did indeed show a very elegant, almost southern American style house, right on the sea front, flanked by palm trees. There aren't any pictures of the rooms, or other parts of the hotel, although these are described in glowing terms on the website. The hotel also described itself as having a renowned restaurant. As something of a foodie this appealed to me and certainly had a baring on me booking there. We went into the online booking section on the Chateau website, and looked up the dates that we hoped to stay. We decided on what they called a double room, which was $89 a night for the flat room rate. Breakfast would be extra. After we sent our booking, an automatic email came back saying that they'd be in touch to confirm our booking shortly. Sure enough the next day we received said email, they didn't take a deposit...

The easy way to find your house after dark

Advantages: Smart, effective and makes the house easy to find
Disadvantages: Doesn't hold the charge overnight in Winter

...! Now that the days are brighter the sign is illuminated until well past my bedtime. I don't get much sunshine on the front of the house to recharge the panel but normal daylight is proving quite sufficient to provide a reasonable charge. Would I recommend it? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yes I would - it is a great way to help visitors to find your house after dark. It is simple to fix, maintenance free and looks really smart....

If you love medical dramas then this is one for you as it's not all your normal diagnosis, each episode goes through a new medical dilemma they have to try and solve and they are not your usual colds and virus's. House is a medical programme with a diagnosis to be made, so each episode has you playing doctor trying to figure what has caused the patient's medical condition.
