A Cestrian's View of Chester
Advantages: Rich in history, lots to do rain or shine
Disadvantages: Expensive parking, busy in high season
...centres which give endless information on the history of the place and, in my mind, it is all part of the Chester experience to look and learn as you go along.
**So What Kind Of People Visit Chester?**
Every year, from April through to September, Chester is inundated with tourists. Visitors in the early part of the year usually consist of exchange students from as far afield as France, Spain, Germany and China. During the summer months, the majority of visitors consist of middle age Americans who are often flabbergasted by this 'little ol' England' town, in comparison to the large cities in the US, Chester also attracts visitors from all over the British Isles.
**What is there to do?**
There is so many attractions catering for visitors to Chester that it would be impossible to go into each one in detail. However, I will try to...

Chester
Advantages: Great Torist Attraction
Disadvantages: Isnt One
...Chester was founded By the romans many years ago (I can't find exactly when, in either books or on the net). From what started off a small market place, gathered over the years to become a hugely visited city. Located in the north West of england, just on the welsh Border.
Shopping
~~~~~~~~
The main shops are located in or around the city Centre. It has a vast range of stores as well as well known high street brands, such as HMV, boots etc. One shop i would reccomend, is the old sweetshop, located opposite Chester Cathedral. One thing, you'll notice about chester is, most companies have atleast two shops in the city, so your never far away from the shop you need.
While on your shopping spree, visit the little shops, such as corner shops etc, as you'll find some of the cheaper products in them.
Charming Chester
Advantages: Great shopping. Lovely architecture. Great pubs.
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...One of the nicest medium sized provincial cities in England is Chester. It is a basically prosperous place in a strategic position-a fact recognised by the Romans centuries ago-and has a strong local economy. It is a major centre for aircraft manufacturing including the European Airbus and has a strong service sector,including a flourishing tourism industry.
It has many beautiful buildings including a lovely colonnaded shopping area. Indeed for its size it is an outstanding shopping centre. It has a number of excellent,elegant,high quality hotels both in the town centre and on the outskirts,and numerous homely bed and breakfast places. The city has some first rate restaurants,bistros,coffee houses and cafes and in the city some of the hostelries are real gems. Chester is also home to a very good zoo and near this attractive city is some...
Chester Zoo
Advantages: Family fun day out!
Disadvantages: Pricey
...I've been to Chester Zoo about 6 times now and each and every time I've visited it's looked totally different. I remember when I was five, This Morning had a competition on. If your name was Emma you could ring up leave your details and you could win tickets to Chester Zoo to see the new baby Rhino, who was also called Emma. Unfortunately I didnt win, but did get to see baby Emma a couple of years later and actually I think she's still there now.
2004 is Chester Zoo's 70th Anniversary and has change so much since George Mottershead first realised his dream. Now they care for 7,000 animals which represent 500 different species and about half of which are endangered.
On entering Chester Zoo there is a massive car park and overflow, coach packing area and Enterance Booths. It costs £13 per adult and I assume under 2's are free...
Virgin Trains Out Accross England. (edited)
Advantages: Nice fast trains, crappy old ones as well, comfort.
Disadvantages: Ticket prices. Timetable, Not many seats.
.....: Introduction :..
Today i was in London just walking about and doing anything i wanted. I got to the station and found out Silverlink who i was originally travelling with had cancelled all trains to Euston. I still bought a ticket and went to my usual platform with a Silverlink ticket where surprisingly a brand new Virgin Pendolino pulled up at the platform. I got on it which i don't think i was supposed to but no-one will ever know :P and it was exactly as i expected to be ~ crowded, hot and fast.
..: Frequency :..
Virgin operate 334 trains a day i think it is and for that amount of trains in one country i was surprised they weren't running more often especially with most trains capable of over 100mph. From London Euston station the trains departed about every 20minutes minimum. One of my annoyances with Virgin from today was i...
Chester Zoo
Advantages: Great day out
Disadvantages: None
...This past weekend I also had the opportunity to go to Chester Zoo and what a great day out we had. I haven't been to the zoo in years but my best friend moved up here a few years a ago and has a season ticket so she suggested going and I though it was a great idea.
Funnily enough Chester zoo is located in Chester in the north west of England. Chester is not a very big place and the zoo is located fairly near the centre of town so it is very easy to find and very well sign posted.
The zoo was opened in 1931 by George Mottershead and is the biggest zoo in the UK. According to their brochure hand out that you receive with your tickets, the park covers 110 acres of gardens, has 7,000 animals and over 400 different species.
When we arrived at the zoo it was nice to find that they had free parking. We went on a Sunday and it was quite...
In the night garden ninky nonk train set
Advantages: strong, versatile, compact, nice bright colours, fun to play with
Disadvantages: none so far
...I decided to buy the in the night garden ninky nonk train set from Amazon as my young daughter is a big fan of in the night garden and whenever it comes on TV she gets really excited. So as my daughter already had some of the other characters from the show I wanted her to have the whole set and since buying it the train set the ninky nonk train set has become one of her favourite toys to play with on a daily basis.
The train set can come apart and be attached on many different ways and my daughter enjoys looking at the nice bright colours and putting some of the other in the night garden characters onto the train set even though it keeps falling of now and again it keeps her busy and sometimes I hear her in fits of giggles. The train set is very cute and versatile and its great as children such as mine can have hours of fun with it...
Chester's Chinese Culture
Advantages: great food, good service
Disadvantages: pricey
...As I mentioned on my previous review, I recently took a small trip to Chester to experience the town properly. While there I did many things but one of my most memorable parts was the places I ate in. I fancied a Chinese one night and instead of having a takeaway I wanted to go to a restaurant to get the real experience. I had asked a few locals and the majority all pointed me in the direction of a restaurant called the Slow Boat. It was pouring rain and I didn't really know where I was going but after asking more locals I found myself outside the building.
It is sort of out of the way down a side street from the main town you come to a tall brick building with the letters Slow Boat glinting at you from the streetlight reflecting. I went in but realised they didn't actually open until 5.30pm I proceeded up the stairs as sometimes they...
