...Chichester Cathedral, Chichester, Sussex Chichester Cathedral is a Christian church built over 900 years ago in the city of Chichester in Sussex. It has had a mixed history and been rebuilt and had other parts added over the years. In 1075 William the Conqueror ordered a cathedral to be built in Chichester and the main part of the present building was dedicated in 1108. Then again after two serious fires it was re - consecrated in 1199. The 277 ft spire is actually Victorian although it was originally added in the late 13th or early 14th century after it collapsed in 1861 it was rebuilt by Sir Gilbert Scott in four years. Advantages: excellent location and service
Disadvantages: prices may seem a little steep if you want to stay sometime

...The jarvis is a great place to stay. Set in a fantastic location upon the south coast. You are approx 5 mins from goodwood racecourse and motor circuit. At the right time of year you can see the glorious goodwood week and the world known festival of speed and revival festival held at the race circuit bringing back the memories of yester year. You are also two minutes from Chichester town center and 30 mins from portsmouth and worthing. The hotel itself is very stylish and as you pull up to it you feel the class it has. The entrance hall is like an inclosed paradise island courtyard. The reception is like a small building as is the hall and corridors to all rooms and facilities. The resurant is very nice and the food is of the highest order. The rooms are very spacious and they are clean and tidy plus the dont look old and shabby like...

...Having lived and worked in Chichester (or nearby) for the last 20 odd years, I think I now know the place well enough to write a half decent review on it's main sights and attractions. For those of you unfamiliar with the name, Chichester is a town situated in West Sussex on the south coast of England. It's an elegant and historic town with some lovely examples of Georgian architecture and there's plenty to see and do. The main landmark is Chichester Cathedral (more on that later), which is over 1,000 years old and whose spire can be seen from many miles away. I'd describe Chichester as a rather elegant town, but you do need to know the place fairly well in order to find all its hidden treasures.   Slugging it out

Advantages: Good food, lively atmosphere, popular venue. Good for people watching.
Disadvantages: A bit too lively after 9.00pm if you're over 25 (ish). Not child friendly.

Advantages: Another great book in the series, which teaches children to look after their belongings.

However, it becomes clear that Blue Kangaroo isn't hiding on purpose; Lily keeps losing him! Lily's friend Florence takes her to the park, she has a lovely time and is about to leave; when she realises she has forgot something! Blue Kangaroo! She finds him on the slide and Florence tells her to be more careful next time. The next week-end Lily goes shopping with Aunt Jemima and travels by bus. This pattern continues across a few pages until a lion jumps out. He exclaims that he wants to play too. The group look a bit scared and have a quiet chat together. They agree that he can play. Will You Squill With Will & Squill?

Advantages: Very funny story to read with wonderful illustrations
Disadvantages: Tongue twisters will have your kids laughing at you when you get it wrong

A Treasure of an Art Gallery

Advantages: Works by major British artists
Disadvantages: A little pricey

...Housing one of the finest collections of modern British art outside of London, Pallant House Gallery is situated in Chichester, close to the cathedral and main shopping centre. Coming myself from a larger city in which I am sure it would be difficult to see the work of a major artist, I was quite astounded to find the Pallant Gallery tucked away in a little side street, yet boasting the ownership of works by Richard Hamilton, Peter Blake, Patrick Caulfield, Eduardo Paolozzi and Frank Auerbach amongst others. This is a gem of a gallery, and it is no surprise that it was awarded the Gulbenkian Prize for Museum of the Year in 2007. At the time of my visit the gallery was holding a temporary exhibition (running until 8th June 2008) centring around Colin St John Wilson, a collector and architect, and another entitled The Artist at Work...

Advantages: Upmarket venue serving fairly authentic Italian pizza and pastas at reasonable prices.

That might not be too fair on Pizza Express though, as they are much more than a quick fill-your-face eaterie. I'd describe them as an upmarket Italian pizzeria chain. ~~ Location ~~ Pizza Express in Chichester is located in South Street, a few hundred yards from the centre of the town, known as The Cross. South Street has loads of different restaurants and pubs, and it really is a rather buzzy street nowadays, where you'll be spoilt for choice between Café Rouge, The Slug and Lettuce, Zizzi, as well as numerous independent bistros and gastro-pubs. It's a nightmare to park in though (especially during the day), so you may need to locate the nearest pay and display car park before you venture out for lunch.
