Chicken Tikka Salad
Advantages: impressive
Disadvantages: time consuming
...Ok so this may not be the most complex or original salad out there but it is one of my favourites! The mighty chicken tikka salad! As a chef this is one of my most simple salads I serve one of the most expensive and one of the most popular! I don't want to keep babbling so here is what you need followed by how to do it.
Ingredients: (not measured as I can't be accurate I use my own judgment)
Mint sauce,
Double cream,
Chicken tikka pieces (ready made from supermarket or pre marinated ones you made yourself)
Diced red onion
Iceberg lettuce
Cos lettuce
Tomato
9 mini popadums
Mango chutney
Carrot
Fresh chopped parsley
1 lemon
Ok so now you know what's in it I will tell you how to put it all together.
Method
Chop your cos and iceberg lettuce and toss together then take your carrot and finally grate it then toss...

Boots Shapers Chicken & Vegetable Rice Salad
Advantages: Slimming aid & comes as part of a luch meal deal for £2.99
Disadvantages: Not the best, or freshest tasting salad I've had
...In this little review I shall be telling you all about my experience with Boots Shapers Seared Chicken and Vegetable Rice Salad.
My experience began when I stumbled into Boots last monday lunch time to take advantage of the meal deal they have at boots. Luch for only £2.99. You can have any sandwich, salad or tortilla wrap with any snack this includes crisps, cruchy carrots, celery sticks, yoghurt, fruit salad or a splendips snack pack as well as any drink - my favs are the smooties or juice drinks.
I chose this chicken and veg rice salad as was under 450 calories and looked very colourful in its pack.
Appearance:
Round rice with a green and red peppers mixed through. The diagonally cut chicken pieces have brown seasoning on the edges and are arranged on top of the salad in a scattered fashion.
Smell:
Vinegary smell...

wrapped up like little chicken salad presents!!
Advantages: loads of chicken, loads of salad
Disadvantages: you have to find how to remove them from the box!
...I came across these in Boots, as they are part of the Meal Deals they have there, the meal deal consists of a drink and sandwich and a packet of crisps or a muffin or a chocolate bar for the bargain price of £2.49. Suits me just fine.
These little beauties were hiding under a mass of Satsuma?s when I found them ? almost like a prize for the determined sandwich hunter. Now I am quite fussy about sandwiches ? if I want a cheese and pickle sandwich I would like cheddar and pickle sandwich not ?a farmhouse matured cheese with a homemade country pickle on a tomato bread with butter?. I like simple food and these are great.
They are Chicken Salad Tortilla Wraps. They come in a plastic wrapper and inside that the wraps are held in a little black half box so if you take them out the wrapper they don?t just sit on your desk ? clever huh...

Thaime for a different sort of salad!
Advantages: Looks & tastes good, quick & easy to prepare
Disadvantages: Paste & dressing are high in calories
...So you?re going through yet another healthy eating phase, but you are fed up with limp lettuce and soggy cucumber with no taste. Well, I just may have the answer to brighten up your mealtimes, in the Hellmann?s warm chicken Thai salad!
? So, how can I find it? ?
So that you can find this great product, it is worth mentioning the packaging, as it does not look like anything to do with salads, and is found in my local Tescos on the cook-in sauce shelves. This might be because it actually looks like a jar of cook-in sauce, but in fact is a small glass jar containing ?Thai sizzling? cooking paste underneath a tapered glass jar containing ?lime & coriander? salad dressing, covered in a plastic sleeve. Both of these can obviously be recycled or reused. To get in you have to rip the plastic film down the perforations, which then reveals...

Salad Cream
Advantages: Perfect for Salads
Disadvantages: None
...In my opinion, a salad is just not a salad without a lovely helping of Heinz Salad Cream. When I lived in the United States they did not have salad cream and I really missed it. Of course you could get lots of other lovely, different flavours of salad dressing but none are quite the same as the humble salad cream.
It?s the product that famous chef Marco Pierre White once called, ?The Greatest Culinary Invention of the 20th Century,? and Gary Rhodes called, ?A British Classic.?
So, we pretty much are all aware of salad cream, but what exactly is it made of? Its ingredients include vinegar, water, sugar, mustard, and egg yolks. To me, that sort of sounds like a basic mayonnaise type recipe as it does have a bit of a mayonnaise type product base to it but to me it definitely has a very tangy, vinegar based taste. Mixed together, all...

Fresh Salad Leaves All Year Round.(Living Salad)
Advantages: Full of vitamins and the taste is outstanding.
Disadvantages: None unless you have a Persian Cat!
...During the summer my garden is a mass of lettuce and rocket plants. In fact these are so prolific, as I grow them in every available space as salad leaves are a passion of mine. It saves a lot of money and the leaves are fresh and succulent, and there for you to pick any time to add to salads and sandwiches or even to stir fry.
As summer fades and gives way to autumn these plants are not as successful outside, as I do not have a greenhouse. I do plant winter varieties, but it's a slow process, and often with hit and miss results.
I don't like buying salad leaves in bags, as I don't find they keep for very long, and they are often sprayed with chemicals to preserve their life, and I really prefer to pick my salad leaves fresh from the plants.
Recently I have discovered a company who produce a tray of salad leaves which are ready...

THE CHICKENS THAT HATE ME!!!
Advantages: eggs, interesting pets, fertilise your garden,
Disadvantages: take a lot of care, smell, they only lay for 4 years
...I am not a big chicken fan apart from when its part of my Sunday roast. However, upon moving to the country my mum decided to turn her garden into something that strongly resembles 'The Good Life'. With various vegetable patches and a herb garden, the next logical step was apparently chickens!!
Purchasing the Chickens
Chickens vary massively in cost and with so many options, we eventually settled on purchasing a kind of "package" which included the chicken house, run and three chickens for around £390. This seems like a lot of money to me but apparently not seeing as most chicken houses (the properly built ones that foxes cant get into) cost around this anyway. The house and run that we purchased was the 'eglu' which is sold by a company called Omlet and is easy to clean and a good secure design too. It took a week or so...

Toss Mah Salad
Advantages: Growing your own!
Disadvantages: Um.. um.. um..
...we love, in summer, a straightforward but yumptious potato salad made from wonderful Jersey Royals still in their jackets with the mayonnaise up there, a few spring onions and lots and lots of freshly chopped chives. Lovely lovely lovely. Still, if you're looking to be a little more adventurous you could try the following ideas, one for each dressing:
CELERY SALAD
4 stalks celery
2 handfuls sultanas
1 green sweet apple
1 small avocado
½ the amount of mayonnaise made above
Chop everything up (not forgetting to peel the avocados!) and mix in with the mayonnaise straightaway. If you don't stir it all together quickly the apples and avocado will turn dark though, so no dilly dallying. This is easy peasy, sweet, juicy and lovely with spiced grilled chicken. Or make double and just have it for a light lunch with a nice crusty roll...

Tasty chicken wrap
Advantages: Plenty of filling
Disadvantages: Too many calories in it
...I happened to come across the Chicken Salad Wrap whilst I was out shopping in Boots one day. The first thing I noticed was a sign in the shop informing me of a "Meal Deal" where you get to choose a sandwich, drink and a packet of crisps for the price of £2.49. I opted for that deal and even though there were plenty of choice there I chose the wrap because it was a nice change from ordinary sandwiches.
The wrap comes in a plastic wrapper that has a cardboard box at the bottom. I must warn you that this is a bit fiddly but doable. On the packaging itself it will tell you the nutitonal information of the product which is a very good thing if you're watching your diet. This wrap contains 576 calories.
I was pleasantly surprised whn I opened the packaging to see that the wrap contained substantial amount of good quality chicken breast...
