A Han-dy Choice for Chinese

...I'm sure everyone - well everyone who likes Chinese - probably has a favourite Chinese restaurant that they keep returning to. For the area where we live - between Northampton and Market Harborough - the Han is our Chinese of choice. It's located in the small Leicestershire market town of Market Harborough and you can find it on St Mary's Road. For those who know the town, it's the road which runs from the Market Square towards the railway station. With the Square behind you, pass the new Starbucks on the left hand side and it's just a hundred meters or so further along. From the outside your first instincts might be that it doesn't look that much like a restaurant. This is because the Han is on two levels and you will only be able to see the downstairs reception area. Here there are sofas and coffee tables where people usually wait...

Red Sky at Night - Chinese Delight

Advantages: Great food, nice setting
Disadvantages: Don't come too late if you're driving - the car park is a bit titchy.

...One of the nice things about writing reviews is that every now and then you get to know someone on a site and then realise that they actually live not far from where you live or work and friendships can move from the internet to the real world. Such was the case recently when I arranged to meet for dinner with a fellow member of dooyoo.co.uk. After debating the various options we worked out that for both of us Frodsham could be a handy location and I suggested 'that Chinese place on the way into Frodsham from the Preston Brook end of the town'. Stylish Chinese Cuisine

...I can't really explain why it took me more than two years to visit Tang's Chinese restaurant which is recommended by the Michelin Guide, especially as it is only about five minutes' walk from my home. Meeting my son and his partner early one Sunday evening, I suggested that it did look worth trying. We arrived at 6pm and found the restaurant to be completely empty. Two Chinese waitresses attended to us, and one showed us to a table on one side. The décor is typically Oriental, very elegant and stylish, with a pagoda-style bar. Our table was set with side plates, chop sticks with porcelain rests, and large linen napkins folded like a fan and arranged inside wine glasses. ...My favourite Chinese dish has to be Crispy Duck - I love it! Whenever I go out for a Chinese meal I always select something that has Crispy Duck as one of the courses. Most meals that I enjoy I like to find out how to cook them at home but with Crispy Duck I must confess that the recipe has so far eluded me so it is a real treat to eat it when I go out. It is quite rare for me to visit the 'ready meals' section in supermarkets anyway as I much perfer to batch cook food and then freeze down my own ready meals. Fantastic food and plenty of it!

Disadvantages: We live in llandudno and it is in Birmingham!

...for two, three, four etc., some are long straight tables, some are round so there are plenty of variations. We were seated in the end room and the table had a knife and fork and a sealed wet wipe thing, which is a must with Chinese food! We were welcomed and told to help ourselves. We walked back towards the reception to the food and there was plenty of it! All the hot food was displayed in metal heated containers with overhead lighting. There was an area for starters; one for main courses, one for sushi, one for cooking while you wait and one for sweets and the range was amazing. I can't remember all the different foods that were there but it looked as though they had taken the menu from a very good Chinese restaurant, made all the foods on it and then added some!
