Chocolate Fountain Heaven!

Disadvantages: Can be messy, slightly wasteful

...I recieved this chocolate fountain as a christmas present last year, and i have not stopped using it since! At the beginning i was a little juboius that it would nt actually flow properly like the picture showed on the front box, but inside was a detailed instruction book of how to gain the correct consistancy for the chocolate. Once the fountain was assembled, the fun began! It was very simple to connect and instruction book was very helpful. It even had a few recipe ideas, such as BBQ sauce for a bbq, which i am yet to try..... One problem is that the fountain requires a very large amount of melted chocolate for the fountain to work, and if it is not all used at the end, it either has to be thrown away or stored for another time which is very inconvienent and wasteful. ...I had wanted a chocolate fountain for quite a while but new it was one of those items i wouldnt use every day so didnt want to pay a fortune for it, when i saw this one in the argos store for just £19.99 i couldnt resist buying it. You have to assemble it yourself but this isnt difficult, it is just a case of putting the fountain pieces into the base and any idiot could do this but if you cant there are full instructions included. It is easy to operate, has a light on it, a temperature controll for the chocolate and a flow regulator that you can adjust. You do need quite a bit of chocolate to fill this fountain up enough to be used, two large cadbury bars minimum. I bought this for my kids last year as a little surprise for their Christmas, we had been to a wedding a couple of months earlier and this was really their first experience with a chocolate fountain and they loved it but weren't aware that you could get them for the home! We first used this on Hogmanay as we were having a party, the kids would have had me using it on Christmas day but the amount of chocolate needed really warrants a bit more than just 4 people, unless of course you want to make yourself sick! You needed around about 800g of Belgian Chocolate. You are advised to use Belgian Chocolate as this is smoother and oilier when melted and less likely to clog the machine. ...I received this chocolate fountain for Christmass along with a huge amount of chocolate to put in it - as a chocolate lover i could not wait to get it going, i bought alsorts of fruits and sweets that me & the family could dunk into the chocolate to satisify our chocolate craving. I was even given a douhnut maker which was an extra induldence to dip! The price is generally the same what ever shop you decide to buy from at a price of £30.00 give or take a few pounds, which i think isnt really that expensive compared to many things you can buy these days. The machine is easy to use and set up with easy step by step instructions and the controls on the base are also basic. The only problem that i found was trying to clean it - when you have eaten so much choc that you now feel sick and the thought of any more makes you wanna...

Twenty First Century Fondue!

...My husband (bless him) bought me this for my birthday - I think he was determined to find the most impractical gadget he could and he certainly succeeded with a chocolate fountain. It takes up masses of space on my limited amount of kitchen worktop, you could only possibly want to use it for special occasions so it spends most of its life taking up more space in a cupboard, and it takes ages to clean (if you count all the spills as well as all the bits!) It's a lovely idea in theory - who needs a fondue set when you can just put your pre-melted chocolate into this fountain, and at the flick of a switch, hey presto - a flowing fountain of cocoa heaven... I have to admit I do love using it, and it looks very impressive. It would make a great gift for a chocoholic - it's just not all that practical! How does it work...

The basic principle behind the appliance is to heat (pre melted) chocolate and force the liquid to the top of the tower using a screw mechanism. At this point, in theory, the molten chocolate cascades down the tiers of the machine and forms solid curtains of chocolate. Unfortunately, this did not work for me. I am not yet sure whether it was my chocolate or the machine that was at fault as I didn't use their recommended fondue chocolate. However, the instruction manual provides instructions for preparing several common brands for use in the machine and I was still unable to get good sheeting using these instructions. ...Ah, the Trevi Fountain. Some would say that it's the most beautiful fountain in all of Rome. Well, I wouldn't know about that - not having visited all 7,000 of them. Ok, that's maybe an exagerration, but there are quite a few of the old fontanas dotted around the eternal city. One thing's for sure though, it's certainly an impressive site...or sight, even. You would think that such a world famous and much visited tourist attraction would be situated in some grand piazza or boulevard. You'd be wrong. It's actually tucked away at the meeting point three nondescript road (tre vie) in a little square called, somewhat unimaginatively, Piazza del Trevi. Advantages: Phenomenal Plot, Gorgeous Special Effects, Top Class Acting,

...The Fountain is a rather little-known film due to it running into problems with funding and budget, therefore not gaining a significant amount of publicity and also had a hitch when the proposed lead for the film (Brad Pitt) turned-down the part of main character. These two problems faced in the early stages of the film, although understandably seemingly rather gloomy for the future prospects of the film, turned-out to merely add to the fantastic experience that was had whilst watching 'The Fountain'. Hough Jackman was eventually cast to the role of lead which, in my opinion, ultimately helped the film itself, Jackman added something to the film with his clearly evident acting ability, something that I felt Pitt (as good of an actor as he is, also) wouldn't have given.
