Chris Isaak's Forever Blue is Pure Heartbreak Heaven!

Advantages: perfect music, wonderful lyrics, flawless singing
Disadvantages: somewhat downbeat

...While I was watching a country music channel quite a few years back, I was captivated by Chris Isaak's video for "Somebody's Crying". It wasn't just the video that had me interested, although Issak is always very handsome, and he appeared to be very much so during the footage, but rather the song. I have been a fan of Isaak's ever since his work with David Lynch on the "Wild at Heart" Soundtrack. His "Wicked Game" is a pure and haunting classic. It is clearly washed in the songs of yesterday that inspired Isaak, such performers as Roy Orbison and Elvis. Loving "Somebody's Crying", I started looking for the album it would appear on. I found out that it was an album entitled "Forever Blue". Along with expecting and awaiting its release date, I found out the story behind many of the songs that would be featured on the album...

Growing Up with Chris

Advantages: Loveable and good songs
Disadvantages: The album is very limited

...I can't say it is hard to get confused when it comes to this youngsters album, as Chris Brown released his debut album in late 2005, the album would appear with different versions and different covers (as highlighted by the wide variety of albums by the artist to review). All versions of the album went by the self-titled name of 'Chris Brown' however the track amounts vary from 8 to 15. For the purposes of this review, I shall be reviewing the eight track version of the album. Welcome to Chris Brown's world. When Chris Brown first burst on to the scene it would be with the single 'Run It', that is the first track on the album if you do not count the Intro (See The Light). Run It was an immediate success and truly was the song of the summer for 2005 and gave Chris Brown the fanbase he so wanted. Chris was himself only 16 at this point...

...For his 1997 release Chris Botti assembled the pretty much the same stellar cast of musicians as he used of his previous recordings. This album has 9 tracks that are new and 1 previously released song that appeared on the soundtrack to the film “Caught” this being the song with Jonatha Brooke on vocals called “Forgiven”. Advantages: It's real music....
Disadvantages: Region 1 only

...the trumpet which stops dead and as the crowd are still clapping the keyboard plays the first few chords of the Blue Nile track "Easter parade" from their debut album "A walk across the Rooftops" from 1984 on the Linn label through Virgin catalogue number LKHCD1, where the Blue Nile version is a vocal track Botti has taken away the lyrics and just used the music to create a soundscape that reminds me of the themes used by Botti on his hard to find soundtrack for the film "Caught" on the Verve forecast label catalogue number 533 095-2 (yes I have a copy) with just the sound of trumpet and piano Botti plays a incredible version of the track that ends the Night Sessions CD the prefect end to the album. ...I have to admit I am a lover of French films, but also a lover of films that concentrate on people, relationships and feelings rather than action and excitement. Three Colours Blue fits the bill for me perfectly. The first part of a trilogy - the second being Three Colours White and the third Three Colours Red - it is French but is directed by Krysztof Kieslowski of Poland. I watched all three films several years ago but Blue was the one that appealed most to me, so I eventually decided to buy the DVD. As the event happens at the outset of the film, I am not giving anything away by telling you that Julie's husband and only child, a daughter, are both killed in a car accident.
