It's OK to like this Christmas music!

Advantages: Beautiful music... simple enough!
Disadvantages: Some people won't like the sadness or the religious element

...For anybody unfamiliar with this band (and that will be many people), Low are a three piece from Duluth, Minnesota consisting of Mormon Christians Alan Sparhawk (vocals, guitar), Mimi Parker (drums, vocals) and Zak Sally (bass). Their music is a combination of clean guitar chords and mournful vocal harmonies spread over drawn out bass and reverbed drums, played at what seems like 6 beats per minute. The simplicity of the music allows the vocals and meaning of their songs to take center stage to great emotional effect. Review of Yankee Candle Christmas at the Beach Wax Tart

Merry Christmas!

Advantages: It's just a brilliant day!
Disadvantages: None, except it doesn't happen often enough!

...Christmas is underway in the chrisandmark household. Pressies are wrapped, turkey is in and I'm just a couple of glasses away from bed. You see, Christmas wasn't great last year. Well in a way it was, our son decided to be born two days before the Big Day - the downer being that I was zoned out through exhaustion and painkillers for most of it.
