...Since I was tiny I have adored animals. So when I discovered the delights of the Animal Ark books, written by author Lucy Daniels, I simply had to have them all! One I had in my collection was Bears in a Barn. The first thing you notice with a book is the cover so it is important that it makes a good first impression. Thankfully, this cover is quite appealing. Rather than seeing an image of scary bears gritting their teeth at us as I had imagined, you will actually see a delighful picture of two little brown bears. It is definitely one that draws me in, they look so adorable! The story itself is about Mandy Hope and her best friend James. They are camping when they spot some bears. ...This is not a book which I would have gone out of my way to buy but hubby spotted this in a shop a he knows how I enjoy reading biographies so he decided to treat me. When he bought it home I was of course grateful but a bit dubious as to whether I would enjoy it or not but on looking at the back cover of the book I was hooked as there is a lovely big picture of Daniel in his famous Bond swimming trunks coming out of the sea, (yes that is very shallow of me, forgive me I am only human!) The book has been written by Sarah Marshall not by Daniel himself so most of the book is made up of quotes from both Daniel and his friends. The book starts off with a short chapter about his upbringing and how he decided he wanted to be an actor. ...you can think about is curling up on the sofa with a good book. Then you see a sign: 'The Book Barn' 'Over a million used book' 'Open 7 days a week' '8am till 6pm' Hallelujah! My dreams appear to have been answered! A million books? Surely not! A slight exaggeration? A ploy to tempt us in? Unfortunately it wasn't on my usual work route so it was a couple of weeks before I could pop in. Eventually I did and lets just say its not in the most desirable of areas, its actually in the middle of a really tatty industrial estate near Temple Meads of Bristol. If you do visit, beware the speed bumps, they're almost square! Actually looking at the place is a little worrying, its not the most attractive place on the estate, tatty again. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
