Oakleigh Guest House
Advantages: A warming, pleasant atmosphere with spotless rooms and good service
Disadvantages: Decor not particularly modern
...I currently live in Stourport on Severn in the heart of Worcestershire and recently had some distant relatives come to visit for the weekend and we needed somewhere for them to stay as our house just wasn?t big enough to accommodate the whole family. In the end we decided to book a couple of rooms at the Oakleigh Guest House as I had heard good reviews on the place from friends.
~Location~
Oakleigh Guest House is situated right in the heart of Stourport on Severn town centre so is in a perfect location to access all the local amenities. However it is situated far enough away from the main High Street so that you don?t get the noise from the pubs on a Friday and Saturday Night.
The guest house is situated on York Street in Stourport on Severn and is situated right next to the canal lock and overlooks the basin and river which...

Guests come to the Town
Advantages: Some good writing in parts
Disadvantages: Badly drawn characters, rather unbelievable
... GUESTS
(AKA THE TOWN)
By
BENTLEY LITTLE
This book is known as 'Guests' in the UK and 'The Town' in the USA
It is exactly the same book, just with a different name.
THE AUTHOR
Have you come across Bentley Little yet?
Little is a horror writer, very much in the genre of Stephen King (who is, in fact, a fan of Little's work), he puts his love of this genre down to the fact that he was born just one month after his mother went to watch 'Psycho'!
His works are generally set in the southwestern United States- particularly Arizona. His horror is raw and frequently disturbing in his pursuit of true horror, there are no holds barred.
STORY
Welcome to McGuane, Arizona. Population: 200...199...198...197...
'Guests' opens with Gregory Tomasov winning the California...

FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Christopher Brookmyre's Schooldays
Advantages: Great characters, situations familiar to all of us
Disadvantages: Slightly unsatisfying ending
...I'm not a big fan of crime novels, but with Jasper Fforde and Christopher Brookmyre making such consistently brilliant efforts at subverting the genre, my resistance is being eroded fairly swiftly.
Christopher Brookmyre has established a formidable reputation for Scottish crime thrillers. Full of bodily fluids and lurid characters, they're generally hilarious to read, but shot through with such extreme violence that there's no chance of them ever being left in the 'humour' section.
A Tale Etched in Blood and Hard Black Pencil is told entirely in the present tense, and follows two linked story strands - the progress through school of a group of Scottish children from their first day right through to their leaving 'dance', and a murder investigation about twenty years later.
Brookmyre's previous works have often made a big deal...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Christopher Robin Goes to Skull
Advantages: nice litle adventure with Pooh and friends
Disadvantages: not quite up to the standrard one associates with the franchise
...Poor Pooh! It's the last day of summer, and wanting to have a another grand day of summer playtime with all his friends, he discovers that Christopher Robin cannot come to play. Christopher Robin has left him a note instead, which Pooh and his friends read with great alarm. he has gone to Skull! Oh no! They must save him from the dangers of Skull before something dreadful happens! What follows is a story of friendship and bravery as Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and the gang set out to save their best friend, Christopher Robin. But just where is Skull, and what dangers might this scary sounding place have? They don't know, but they decide to face it all anyway, out of love.
This is a feature length film for young fans of Winnie the Pooh, and it's one of the better ones though by no means the best. The animation doesn't have the look...

Fathers Guest House, great place in the Cameron Highlands
Advantages: Location, views, surroundings
Disadvantages: Disappointing dorm room
...Fathers Guest house has the perfect location on a small hill overlooking the tiny town of Tanah Rata in the Cameron highlands. Situated outside the town, but only a 3 minute walk into it, it has fantastic views and is tranquil but still has access to any activities the town has to offer.
If you call the owners in advance letting them known when you will arrive then they will collect you from the town and save the walk up the hill with heavy bags. They also tend to be one of the touts who wander the bus drop off area and so if you arrive by bus then there is almost always someone there who you can ask to get a lift up the hill.
Driving up towards the guesthouse the first thing that is obvious is that this is a beautiful area. The views from the top go right across the town and amongst the rolling hills of the area. The Cameron highlands...

Marlborough Guest House - one of the best
Advantages: Very close to sea front, value for money, lovely couple, nice little extras
Disadvantages: Room very small
...We had 3 days in the Marlborough in October. It wasn't expensive, we paid £80 for a double room with shared bathroom /toilet for 3 nights. There were ensuite rooms but not on the dates we wished to stay. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean. We had a TV in the room and a selection of free DVDs. There were towels, a range of toiletries, a box of tissues, fresh fruit in a fruit bowl every morning as well as the usual tea/coffee and biscuits. The breakfast was plentiful and hot with a choice of starters and nothing was too much trouble.
We had one evening meal for £6.50 each. This was 3 courses with tea or coffee. Pate, toast and salad.
Chicken with roast and mashed potatoes and a selection of fresh vegetables
Apple pie and custard.
Excellent value for money and beautifully presented....

An excellent guest house, hotel to stay in islamabad
Advantages: Prompt service, Personal attention paid each guest by the management, Worth the price
Disadvantages: Not any as of i remember
...I stayed at at five other small hotels and guest houses in Islamabad Pakistan before I found the New Cape and I believe you would be hard-pressed to find a better place in Islamabad for the price.
The house is a large villa which is immaculate and spacious with hi-speed Internet, and large rooms with plenty of light. I was fortunate to have a huge balcony as well.
The house is centrally located in an upscale, quiet and secure residential neighborhood within walking distance between the two nicest markets in the city, which host good best bookshops, clothing stores, bakeries and restaurants.
However, the traditional Pakistani food served at the guest house is excellent and all the dishes I ordered tasted homemade.
The owner, Karim, is very friendly and will gladly try to assist you with any assistance you may need. (I didn't have...

My worst dinner guests and why...
Advantages: erm.............?
Disadvantages: everything
...This is a list of my 10 worst dinner guests and why. Oh and by the way, I know that technically there are more than ten, but tough!!!!
So in no particular order???
1. David and Victoria Beckham.
Am I the only one who doesn?t get it when it comes to these two? She?s a really bad singer who loves herself a bit too much, and will bitch about anyone in spitting distance, and he is an overrated footballer, who for some unknown reason women find attractive. WHY? He?s minging (for want of a better word), and he dresses like a girl, and don?t get me started on his hair.
2. Jodie Marsh
Every time you open the paper there she is falling out of some club or bitching about Jordan. Well it?s not like I?m Jordan?s biggest fan, but if it was a choice between the two Jordan would win every time. Jodie Marsh is just a horrible little nobody...
