...This is or ?was? my 250th review. A good Ciao buddy asked me why update it, well I have decided to keep it updated due to the ever changing world of Ciao and its new members? See some new ones added at the bottom (these aren?t just new members, but others that have added their bits via comments or by me nagging at their guest-books? lol). ...have been well thought out before hand. If you intend to redesign something you may want to make it look better as I think Ciao has done in this case. You also however want to leave the comfort things that the trusted and loyal members are used to. Things like being able to leave a comment on ALL reviews not just exceptional ones. Things like being able to return to a review you have read and be able to see the rating you gave this review, it might have been updated and you may wish to increase your rating, without knowing what you previously gave it, you might actually be downgrading your previous interpretation. Although I don?t believe it is a necessity it would also be nice to see in the reviews page the current overall rating of reviews published. Some of the processes in place also don?t work, for example product...

Advantages: Quick and easy
Disadvantages: Possibly innacurate and can't be deleted if posted by mistake

...Hi, following feedback have moved what was originally here in the correct section - hope that helps! With regards to quick reviews, I am quite new here, but I think they can be useful, in that someone with little experience such as myself can quickly add comments about a product without having to worry too much about how t do it. The downside is that perhaps, as suggested in other posts, it would make people lazy and perhaps it is good that people have to learn how to post properly - as I am doing at the moment! I would say though, that with such a feature it might also be useful to be able to delete the review too - quick reviews might be posted by mistake if someone is in a hurry. Unfortunately that happened to me!...

How do I rate a review?

...on it. In my mind, I feel that it is important to comment on it as it gives the writer just a little bit more feedback rather than just rating it on one of the before mentioned areas. But Ii have found that it is difficult to now leave a comment, as I seem to be able to write one OK but as soon as I go to publish the comment then it appears not to actually let me do so. Wait, that is a slight lie as I CAN in fact leave a comment - but only on certain occasions. These are when I have rated a review as being excellent (when the same leave a comments page comes up as before), or when I have rated something two steps away from the last one - that is, the last person has rated it as off tpic whereas I have done it as helpful. My fiftieth Ciao review

Advantages: Easy to use, easy to read

...This is a good and useful service - short snappy reviews from people not concerned with selling the product but ensuring that other readers get good value for money. The honesty and readability of the reviews has meant that I've both considered products I would never normlly have looked at and discounted products I was close to buying. The personal aspect of the reviews has meant I've been given good information on useability of products, durability, and ultimately whether the product is worth buying. I now tend to read the reviews first and then consider the tech spec of the product second. I cannot overstress the power of a negative review. My normal internet purchases tend to be books and DVDs. I've now bought several DVDs solely on the basis of reviews!...

...Reading reviews on Ciao is one of my favourite things to do on the web (I expect many people who read this will agree with me on that!) You get to find out about a massive range of products, read some really interesting opinions and interact with the authors. Now Ciao has brought the whole thing bang up-to-date with the new(ish) video review feature, giving every Ciao member (well, every member with a digital camera or a good camera phone) the chance to direct and present their own mini-movies. Having watched about twenty of the one hundred or so reviews already published on the site at the time of writing, the results are very interesting. Certainly the format is much more informative than a conventional review - you can tell much more about a product such as a games machine or a toy remote control helicopter by watching a video...

100th yoghurt review (400th Ciao review!!!)

...Okay so strictly speaking this is not my 100th review on Ciao, however it is my 100th yoghurt review, so it seems appropriate that since this does not have its own category (!), it could go here. I'm also celebrating my 400th review too, so it's a double party for me! Looking back at some of my older, more inhospitable, reviews, I came across my first yoghurt review. The 4th September 2007 marks the beginning of my climb to 100 yoghurt reviews, with a piddly little review on a Muller Strawberry Fruit Corner, with a shameful title and limited content. I've since then updated it and even still it's quite problematic for its readers! Since then though they have improved, if even slightly, and to be honest have become more enjoyable to write too! Quick reviews - A good thing for the site

Advantages: Will help increase the quality of reviews and save time
Disadvantages: Dont get paid when these are reviewed

...Personally I think this is a very good idea indeed. The quality and length of some of the reviews that are coming through is not really much better in some cases than a text message being spaced out. Also for any new people this would be an initiative to get the feedback and to then build the review ensuring that there is no time wasted for other who review and rate the piece. As there is no remuneration then that can successfully split the genuine reviewers from people who just wish to leave a message. Bottom line is awareness of what is required when writing a review, although Ciao does have a training center that can cater for precisely this issue I also think that the standard review should have more than 250 words as basic as well. Yes it is an increase to the current level but I think would greatly assist in helping...
