...and left me wanting to skip some pages so I'd get back to what was happening with Trixie, the writer has created characters that you could easily see in everyday life with their own personalities and mistakes. The book is written in third person so that it may dive into different character's thoughts and see what their take on the situation is. The writing style is easy to read and understand. At the end of each chapter 3-4 pages of comic artwork similar to the Marvel comics are shown, Daniel's story that he started before Trixie was raped. The comic is another narrative to the book, the main character in the comic sees his daughter kidnapped by a demon, the hero travels to Hell to rescue her and has to go through all of the circles of hell, later on in the graphic novel you discover the hero is able to change into different animals forms but...

Did Dante miss a circle?

Advantages: Excellent story, interesting debate topic, realistic characters
Disadvantages: Some difficult to understand American references.

...I have gone through all of Jodi Picoult's books in a complete craze of insanity, I read one and I loved it, I read two and I've been hooked ever since. Personally I believe that this is one of Picoult's better works, but equally I love (nearly) all her books and it's difficult to choose. I did however think that this one was very clever for reasons I will explain below. the family circle

...I was putting some cakes I had made into a biscuit tin to keep them moist and I realised that I was using a Jacobs family circle biscuit tin, well its not really a tin but a square rigid plastic container. Any way this container is an attractive red square the lid has pictures of biscuits on it. They are arranged in a circle. The words family circle everyones favourite are printed around the picture. There is a small black background above the word family circle surrounding the word Jacobs in white. The lid is of this biscuit tin is very well fitting. It is great for storing things in afterwards. So are these biscuits my family favourites? . I believe Jacobs have made these biscuits for many years now as I have a memory of eating them for lots of years. Advantages: a good story line

...I have been an avid fan of Jodi Picoult ever since I read her first book, and look forward immensely to reading them expecting to be totally immersed and absorbed from the first few pages. Therefore when I started to read 'The Tenth Circle' I was full of expectation. Sadly, as far as I am concerned as a reader, it did not live up to all the others I have read. I'm not quite sure why this was, as the storyline is a very good one, but perhaps the whole story meandered a little too much for my liking. I will attempt to explain... 9 circles of hell...what is the Tenth Circle??

Advantages: Well written, controversial topic
Disadvantages: Didn't captivate me like her other novels

...really cannot put my finger on why that is! Trixie's mother Laura is an expert of Dante's Inferno, and it is clear that the thread of this runs throughout the book. The inferno is explained in the book by way of lessons by Laura, but the main idea is that there are 9 circles of hell, and I suppose Picoult is hinting that there is a Tenth Circle, which is in the book. This is also reflected in the comic strip drawings which appear throughout the book and are meant to be Daniel Stone's own drawings. The idea of the story is a good idea by Picoult, not something often covered in novels. She really goes into detail with the parties that the teenagers have, and details some of the sexual exploits that go on...even I had not heard of some of them, so they were a bit shocking to me!!
