Advantages: Great service, Extremley cheap cover Disadvantages: Bit slow on claims
...CIS insurance is the cheapest insurer i have found to insure both of my cars. Bearing in mind i am 19, male and own a 1.6 16v Vauxhall Astra, I still got covered for only £391 a year, this was on my dads policy but his no claims bonus got transferred into my name. (you will have to ask them about this)
THE SERVICE - Second to none in my book... Firstly i got a quote through the website, which was really easy to use, then once getting the quote i phoned them. They gave me an even better quote than on their website so its always good to ring them too. My cover came the next day which is unheard of with other insurers, so all in all i got a great service.
PRICE - As i stated earlier i own a 1.6 and am 19, male and got cover (Fully comprehensive) for £391/year which is like £100 cheaper than other companies. Plus they gave me protected...
Advantages: CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! Disadvantages: dodgy? who said that? I'm slightly deaf in this ear.
...drivers? Although no one believes it we are safer than some other groups of drivers.
People I know couldn't believe the prices me and my friends had to pay to these extorting companies, all to give us a piece of paper to make us legal. I DO NOT agree with driving uninsured but it's no wonder those less well off risk it.
In my first year, driving a group 1 car I found insurance quotes to be around 1200 pounds for me and my little car, just me, and third party fire and theft! £1200! Oh well, we pay it and accept that it's what we have to do. The second year is still very bad with insurance in the many 100's. That was until we found CIS.
Seemingly the only company around to send a guy round to your house in an attempt to get your vote was CIS. Which I thought was a very good move. Nice and personal. The quote, which was previously over...
Advantages: Very competetive, payment terms available. Excellent customer service. Disadvantages: No real problems
...If you are young or old, try asking for a motor insurance quotation from the CIS. My vehicle is a Range Rover with an engine conversion. Most companies would not even quote, the CIS insured it at normal rates, and these rates are very competetive. Also, if you do happen to have an accident, I understand that they are very efficient in settling, and this comes not from personal experience, but from a friend in the motor trade who repairs cars, and who often has trouble with other 'all singing, all dancing' companies, who when push comes to shove, literally, don't fulfil their obligations to the customer. Also I know, particularly if you are young the temptation is to look for a cheap alternative, but in the long term, it is best to start a policy in your own name, and start to build your no claims. Don't forget, DRIVE CAREFULLY....
Advantages: Reasonable premiums. Good glass cover Disadvantages: Its car insurance, therefore its an unwanted expense isn't it
...I have been with the CIS for around 3 years now and have had no problems with the service given.
I was shopping around to get a better quote and remembered a friend of the family was an agent for CIS. So I called her up and asked her for a quote. Despite her not being able to give a discount for being a friend there was a 10% joining discount available. I think they still offer this but don’t quote me on that!
Anyway, the quote I got was better than any others that I had found, so I signed up there and then. This was a fully comprehensive quote with a £150 excess. It includes legal cover. Monthly payments (with interest) are available, however I pay annually. Ow!
I was unfortunate enough to have a small bump on a cold icy day and I had no problems sorting my car out. I called my agent who gave me the address of my nearest...
Advantages: Reliable home service, quick and easy website and quote facility. Disadvantages: none that I can think of.
...I have recently been shopping for Car Insurance both on the Internet and on the telephone. I spent all day Friday on the Internet just looking at 5 sites and then I telephoned 2 insurance places as well. When I say all day I mean from 9.30am to 4pm with a break only for lunch!
Then Sunday I spent a hour looking for the company I used to work for the CIS Ltd (which stands for Co-operative Insurance Society) I worked for them for 9 years, since I left school but I left them when I pregnant, 3 years ago and never returned. I used to insure everything through them just because it was easy for me to get quotes and immediate cover, and to deal with people I knew.
Now most of the people I used to work with have left so I thought I would look on the Internet to get a quote that way.
This was the fastest and easiest site, out...
Advantages: Friendly advisers, competitive, comprehensive cover Disadvantages: Slow to receive the quote
...Our home insurance was due for renewal yesterday. I chose to ring CIS Insurance for a quote. The lady on the telephone was very helpful indeed. She explained fully what each policy would cover and the cover was pretty comprehensive. The quote she gave me over the telephone was quite competitive and I asked for her to send me the quote through the post. I made her aware that the insurance was due for renewal in a few days. Unfortunately, I received the quote too late to do anything with it. That seems such a shame as the cover was very people friendly. I would advise if anyone wants to take out Co-operative Insurance Society cover that they should call the Service Centre early enough to receive the quote as they seem very helpful and competitive but unfortunately the post was too slow for me....
Advantages: meant to be good value Disadvantages: cannot get through to get a quote!
...What is the point of having a large insurance company when it appears almost impossible to ever speak to a human being? I have called a total of ten times in two days doesn't result in a single human being, this is one car that is not going to be insuraed with CIS next year!
There is no facility for them to take a phone number and come back to you, and no indication what so ever about where you are in the queue. This results in frustration and I have not the time nor the inclination to find out how long it takes.
My suggestion is that the CIS chairman tries to ring his own helpline occasionally to discover what his service is like! This would lead to him discovering how difficult it is to actaully speak to someone to get a quote! I ahve been told by others that this company is very good and gives good value quotes, I just wish...
Advantages: Cheap, friendly Disadvantages: Unable to buy online
...Having trawled the internet for insurance quotes CIS provided me with the cheapest quote by far. My insurance costs me just over £45 a month. Compared to other quotes I am saving (on average) £50 a month. I am 17 driving a K-reg 1.1 Rover Metro. My dad is the main driver, he has had a license for more years than he'd care to remember but due to him having his own car is unable to gain a no-claims bonus. This is where CIS are particularily goo - they give you an introductory 25% off no-claims discount.
The downside to CIS is that it's not possible to buy insurance online. The system works as follows:
- Gain an online insurance quote from http://www.cis.co.uk
- The national office recieves the quote and then contacts your closest regional office
- The regional office then send a member of there staff round to give an exact quote...
Advantages: Cheaper than the rest by about £30 over the year. Disadvantages: As above.
...I took out my motor insurance with CIS as it was the cheapest quote - however after paying my first instalment by cheque to the agent (in June), the company kept failing to take any direct debits from me with the result that 3 payments were taken off in September - not on the 1st as stated but on the 29th.
Their staff have been completely unhelpful and uncommunicative and I would not recommend them to anyone. The staff in the local office are the rudest I have come across and don't seem to pass on any information....
