Citibank Classic Card

...I've been a Citibank customer since the start on them entering the UK credit card business, I started with Associates Classic Card and it has been moved to the Citibank branding www.citicards.co.uk Like many Citibank customers I started with a high apr (32.9%) at present there website www.citicards.co.uk offer 6 months interest free for transfers and a low apr off 13.9% but been warned read your documents to check your apr if you sign up. Although I had a high apr I needed a credit card and used it, I never missed a payment and have found that if you phone and complain about the high apr then they will be more than happy to reduce your apr (I am now on the low 13.9%), if you phone every 6 months you find that they update there systems and make you offers, but YOU have to ask Citicard, they won't offer. ...I applied for this card from the moneysupermarket website although it now appears that it is no longer available via that route - but keep your eyes open they pereiodically re-open their offers! There have been a lot of messages on the web about people applying for this particular product and not getting it and I would say that most of that confusion is due to Citibank themselves - maybe that's why it's no longer available because of all the problems that people have had.... Polite but frustrating to deal with

Advantages: Polite staff, clear statements, easy to contact via phone
Disadvantages: poor customer service, staff often seem out of their depth

...I hold a registered power of attorney for my mother who is in a care home and no longer able to manage her own affairs. My experience of taking control of her accounts at other banks has been relatively smooth, but Citibank has proved much more frustrating to deal with. Although Citibank's strengths apparently lie in telephone and internet banking, they also have a small number of branches in London. I have visited the branches in Hanover Square and St Paul's a number of times and the staff have all been very polite and try to help but often seem out of their depth in dealing with both myself and other customers and have to find a more experienced manager to advise them what to do. I wanted a bank that allowed me access to my money when I wanted it, had decent online banking facilities, and had 24hr telephone banking. Advantages: free £500 overdraft, able to draw money from all ATMs without charge,free internet banking

I previously had current account with Natwest and then Barclays and I had to close both the accounts within few months. I went to the Citibank branch in Oxford street with all my details (passport, salary bills and so on ) and my account was opened straight away and made use of the free foreign currency service just prior to a trip to Italy. I have recommended Citibank to couple of my friends and they managed to open the account easily via postal application. The telephone banking is pretty straight forward and havent experienced any problems so far.
