Citroen Berlingo 1.6HDi Desire - a surprisingly good all rounder!

Advantages: Massive boot space, Frugal engine, Comfortable ride.
Disadvantages: Poor residuals, Engine noise, Styling

...Citroen Berlingo 1.6HDi Multispace Performance The 1.6HDi engine has been used in Citroens and Peugeots for over 10 years now, testament to it's popularity and reliability. It is smooth and responsive, if a little noisey and capable of providing adequate acceleration and overtaking ability. The o-62 mph time is a sluggish 15 seconds and the top speed is 93 mph. The 5 speed manual is precise and solid which build on a silky smooth ride comfort to give an overall relaxing driving experience. Practicality This is where the cars excels. Its cavernous boot space will swallow all your luggage, shopping or pets with ease. The optional Dog Gaurd which is fitted in my car is custom made for the Berlingo and is solid and secure. It is made of a fine metal mesh which only marginally reduces rear visibility. The Desire...

Citroen Berlingo 1.9D Multispace

Advantages: Versatile and Economical
Disadvantages: Limited load space

...I have been very pleased with my Berlingo Multispace. My daughter originally bought the vehicle in 2003 - she had three children at the time and needed a versatile MPV for driving them to and from school. We researched several different makes and models before deciding on the Berlingo. It is very easy to drive, the fuel consumption is very good (600 miles easily on a full tank), the five-speed gearbox keeps the rev counter quite low even at high speeds, and it is very comfortable even on long journeys. There is excellent visibility all round - the shape of the vehicle lends itself favourably to this. The sliding side doors make access very easy even in tight parking spaces. My daughter has since upgraded (increase in family size) and I have had the vehicle for the past two years. Initially the main use was simply getting from A to...

Berlin-go -go- go- go!!

Advantages: Roomy cargo area and passenger area, good diesal engine, never let us down to date
Disadvantages: basic, everyday, not a lot else!

...We have had our citroen Berling van estate 1.9d for 1 and a half years, it has proven to be a very reliable vehicle. VALUE These vans are not very expensive new, roughly £10,000, but i am not sure. Second, they are great, the Berlingo is a very good van for not a lot too much brass. The one we own was seconda hand, and is a company vehicle, but i do know that the van was little over 2 years old when bought, and they paid rougly £5500 for it. LOOKS Well how nice can a van look? the berlingo is fairly modern looking for a van, although i would't acclaim it to be a beauty! Most are them are white, so simply looking. But if you put it next to its rivals it does not look bad at all, for example the Daihatsu hi-jet van is not at all appealing to the eye. COMFORT not bad at all, it has very...

The Berlingo - it's a van but we love it!

Advantages: Lots of luggage space, very flexible, cheap to buy and run
Disadvantages: Hard jostly ride at time, rattles develop with age revealing its van roots!

...We bought our Berlingo as a family car but as my wife runs a small business from home we also needed our car to double as a van. The Berlingo has the largest loading space of any comparable domestic vehicle and is great value for money. The diesel engine is powerful enough to still have acceleration even when fully laden but remains the most economical in the range. The Berlingo boot space is immense and eats luggage - no more worries about what to take on holiday, you can take it all! With the seats folded down the Berlingo reveals its van roots and the sliding rear side doors are great for loading and unloading (also no need to worry about your kids winging the door open into other cars in a car par - a nice bonus!). On the downside the Berlingo ride is hard at best and expect some rattles as it starts to get on in years...

Reg Vardy Citroen - A Fine Dealership

Advantages: Excellent Service, Good Stock of Cars
Disadvantages: None at present

...*Reg Vardy ? Citroen Dealership* *Background* My Old-Faithful Seat Ibiza recently failed its MOT and the garage in question wanted a very large sum of money to carry out any further repairs. Considering my bank balance is not exactly worth of a lottery winner, I thought I?d venture out and buy a replacement vehicle. Scary thought. Being female, and wanting to enter a male dominated environment does not exactly instil me with feelings of joy! To begin this journey, I bought the local newspapers to search for a roadworthy car of reasonable value. The choice was overwhelming. Everywhere I looked was another dealership; offering yet more deals, for what were reported to be excellent cars. Not to prove a point, but I know nothing about cars, so didn?t really know what was a good bargain and what wasn?t. So where better place...

The Citroen Saxo.

Advantages: Quirky. Fun. French.
Disadvantages: Creaks and shakes. Slow. Unsafe.

..."AAAhhh, it's a little Citroen Saxo." Yes, for about a year now I have been driving around in my little Saxo, and I now feel qualified to tell you something about it. This review, I'm afraid, comes four years too late, as the Saxo went out of production in the year 2000. It has since been replaced by a more 21st century, bubble-like car, the C3. There no question that the C3 is the nicer of the two, with its chic French curves, however at £9.000 it's not to everyone's liking. And so we come to the humble Saxo. Weighing in at 805kg the Saxo is very small, so obviously would not be suitable for big families, or indeed for people with big legs which invariably get crushed if they sit in the back seats. An avid Saxo-spotter, I have found they come in a spectrum of colours, the most offensive and most striking being bright yellow. It...

Overall, a great car

Advantages: Economical (fuel, lower road tax, cheaper insurance), good warranty, comfortable, spacious
Disadvantages: Dashboard heater vents not very directionable, sliding rear doors could cause scratching

...We bought our Berlingo 2.0Hdi in October last year - our first ever brand new car! We've had one or two 'teething' problems with it, but we're very pleased with it overall. RELIABILITY. We've owned a Citroen in the past and found it very reliable, so we didn't hesitate to consider buying another. The car has a 3-year full manufacturers warranty and 12-year anti-corrosion warranty, which gives us a lot of peace of mind, as our previous car (a Landrover Discovery) was showing signs of rust after only 7 years. On the minus side, we've had one or two 'teething' problems, but nothing major - the fuel indicator doesn't reach the FULL line even when we've filled up to the maximum, the electric windows have stuck once or twice and the heater fan packed up - but the dealer put the first two things right under the warranty and should be fixing...

Review of Citroen Berlingo 2.0 HDi

If only it had a bit more of space...

Advantages: Cute, versatile, reasonable price
Disadvantages: Not much to make a fuss about

.... TURN ONS : = * Reasonably cheap * Good value for money paid. * Looks good * Versatile * Roomy * Not too high consuming * Safe * Nice stereo * Safe braking TURN OFFS : * Weak engine * Poor performance * A little "choppy" and unusual ride. (Can get used to it though.) CONCLUSION : = The very same vehicle is available at Peugeot, named as "Partner". (PSA is Citroen and Peugeot merged remember ?) But the Partner is a more basic model meant for commercial use. The Berlingo is seemingly meant for family use... I recommend this vehicle as a second car for families where the lady of the household will drive the weekdays and the whole family on weekends. No vehicle for a he-man though... Happy motoring folks......

Nice car but not without its faults

Advantages: Price, Spacious
Disadvantages: Reliability

...Until recently, I have been driving a Peugeot 205 diesel. In over 120,000 miles it only let me down twice. As we now have a child (And are planning more!) it seemed a sensible time to buy something bigger and more faliy friendly. After reading a number of reviews elsewhere I decided that the Citroen 'Bling' 1.9D would be the ideal vehicle. I bought the vehicle for three reasons: The first was the economy, the second was the size and the third reason was that I'm familiar with the mechanicals of the vehicle. The Citroen Berlingo features a Peugeot 306 engine and gearbox at the front, mounted on a 306 subframe. At the back of the vehicle is a Peugeot 405 rear axle assembly. Both are tried and trusted and have been used for years. The Peugeot 1.9D engine is regarded as possibly the most reliable in the business. I was sure...
