Advantages: Toys
Disadvantages: Ride

...you want 'sporty', you can get a 2 litre 145BHP focus for the same money. But, if you must have 'toys', the 1.6 VTEC Civic Exec has as many an is as cheap, or how about a Fabia vRS with all the options bar sat nav - and change?! Even a Mazda 3 has to be a better purchase. I am truly sorry if you have bought a C4 - and even more so if it has a lower spec engine (the 90bhp 1.4) as it's quite a big car but, in reality, a bit pointless. The boot isn't big enough, the ride is poor, the handling is not good and there is no power. One to be avoided....

Citroen Berlingo 1.6HDi Desire - a surprisingly good all rounder!

Advantages: Massive boot space, Frugal engine, Comfortable ride.
Disadvantages: Poor residuals, Engine noise, Styling

...Citroen Berlingo 1.6HDi Multispace Performance The 1.6HDi engine has been used in Citroens and Peugeots for over 10 years now, testament to it's popularity and reliability. It is smooth and responsive, if a little noisey and capable of providing adequate acceleration and overtaking ability. The o-62 mph time is a sluggish 15 seconds and the top speed is 93 mph. The 5 speed manual is precise and solid which build on a silky smooth ride comfort to give an overall relaxing driving experience. Practicality This is where the cars excels. Its cavernous boot space will swallow all your luggage, shopping or pets with ease. The optional Dog Gaurd which is fitted in my car is custom made for the Berlingo and is solid and secure. It is made of a fine metal mesh which only marginally reduces rear visibility. The Desire...

Citroen C4 Transformer

Advantages: Good styling and plenty of gadgets
Disadvantages: Citroen reputation

...When looking for a car recently I wanted everything and thought I would have to compromise. To my surprise I didn't and I am now the proud owner of this car. Leaving facts and figures aside it's a great looking car, affordable, sporty and packs a turbo diesel punch! It had to be less than £10,000 No more than 3 or 4 years old No more than 20,000 miles on the clock Low fuel consumption Low tax bracket £150 a year max Sporty looks and decent performance Good resale value Plenty of gadgets (I am a bloke after all) Good ride and handling Believe it or not the Citroen C4, specifically the coupe VTS 2.0HDi diesel delivered on all of the above. Citroën has never given buyers in this class a car as good as the C4. The old Xsara - and before that ZX - failed to hit the spot with bland looks and little innovation. But the C4 is...

Diamond review  So where's the flippin' "robot" button then?

Advantages: High Tech gadgets, 20K Mile service intervals, smooth ride and good handling
Disadvantages: I can't make it dance.

...into a robot!! So I pop into the nearest showroom (?must remember to ask the salesman to show me the robot thingy) and look at the range of new C4's. Then I take it for a test drive (....must remember about the robot thingy). OK. So far, so good. Next we talk cash ? (damn! forgot to ask about the robot thingy). Well, I know how much it costs in the showroom. So then I spend hours, no days?nay weeks, searching the internet for all the good deals, only to end up back at the first dealer showroom with an offer I can't beat anywhere else. It's a deal. Oh yes!! I pay the equivalent of £11,800 for the C4 1.6 16V VTR Plus - with metallic paint. Now that's a good deal, because the showroom price (with metallic paint) is £14,645. Even "What Car?" suggest a target price of £12,388 PLUS £350 for the option of metallic paint Oh joy...

Clutchless Gearbox on a Diesel - Rare Combination

Advantages: Looks good, plenty of extras, well built, spacious interior, no clutch
Disadvantages: Automatic gearchanges could be better timed

...When looking for a new car back in December 2006, I wanted something which ran on diesel, had a clutchless gearbox (i.e. automatic with paddleshift) and looked good. This combination limits youto a number of manufacturers it seems, and I ended up choosing between a diesel automatic Audi A3 and the Citroen C4 1.6HDi 16V VTR+ Coupe EGS. I chose the Citroen C4 based on the fact that it is better value for money (unsurprisingly) and looks better (I also already have a Citroen Picasso) Design I chose the 3 door version, as it looks much better than the 5 door version (which looks like a Ford Focus), a bit sporty even, and meets my requirements. I chose the "Iron Grey" colour, which I think compliments the car's salmon-esque shape. I don't see many C4s in the South-East of the UK, and it does stand out amongst the usual German marques...

Citroen C3 1.6HDI Exclusive Manual

Advantages: Price, economical, interior height
Disadvantages: Drivers seat too high for short legs

...Bought this as a 2nd car for household. Never been tempted to buy new before and the other car is now 13yrs old. I wanted a car that was small but had 5 doors, AC, very economical to drive and preferably a diesel. Other than that I was open to any make or model. I had never considered a Citroen as my mum had a BX many years ago which she hated, however I saw the MPG and decided to take it for a test. There were no demos in the exclusive, so we took out the 1.4 diesel desire, we had it for 24hrs (I'd recommend this to anyone serious about buying). It was nippy and easy to drive, although it didn't have any of the specifications which the exclusive had (auto wipe, heated & folding mirrors, cruise control, electronic climate control, the thing in the boot and loads more) but I liked it. The engine is the same as Ford's TDCI for those...

Classic Citroen cracker

Advantages: cost, spec level, economy, fun to drive
Disadvantages: some flimsy interior fittings

...C3 is surely the inheritor of the 2CV - small car with an arched roofline suggesting classic Citroen's visual appeal. It's light in weight and our 1.6 HDI with manual gearbox returns an average 70+mpg. It will cruise on the motorway all day at the legal limit and return 65mpg. We're tall, and the headroom and legroom in the front are excellent. The handling is really good as long as you remember you're in a diesel and keep the revs up. It can be skittish on rough surfaces; the back wheels jump sideways a bit over potholes, but the steering and brakes are excellent. Servicing is reasonably priced, the build quality seems pretty good. Some interior fittings need handling with care because they're flimsy. But the car is nippy, quiet, reliable and cheap to tax, insure and run. Overall this is one of our favourite cars and great value...

Diamond review  Excrement Off A Teflon Digging Tool: 12 Months On

Advantages: Advanced electronics, and high levels of appointment. Very economical diesel but still fast
Disadvantages: Advanced electronics!

...from 1.4 petrol, 1.6 petrol, two different 1.6 diesels of differing power outputs, a 2.0 litre diesel and two different powers of 2.0 litre petrol engines. Power outputs range from 90 bhp to 186 bhp. Even base models (LX) are well appointed with cruise control, CD-Radio etc. Best value-for-money is probably represented by the 1.6 petrol SX (£9,999 at car supermarkets), and official prices in general range from £9,695 for a 1.4 LX petrol to £17,995 for my version before any further optional extras are built in. They are all good to drive, arguably being class-winners, and the C4 is currently the Top Gear Magazine 'Best Hatch' for 2005. Three year warranties apply in the UK, the first two being internationally recognised. Oh yes, and in common with 'Eldergill', I couldn't find the button to turn it into a 'Transformer' as in...

Ford Escort 1.6 16v Estate mkV

Advantages: Cheap to buy, cheap enough to run, cheap insurance, space.
Disadvantages: Rust, comfort and looks

...I thought this was a fantastic car after moving up from a 1.3 to 1.6, the car itself is very bland even for an LX model. It is much better equipped and more comfortable than the mk 4 and slightly safer with the addition of driver airbag and better seats. The car itself is as I stated an estate, not the best car to look at but easy to keep as it's an Escort. My one in particular was white and an L reg. It came as standard with 4 doors and hatch at back. It had standard 14" steel wheels that had 185 R14 T60 tyres on, not sure if they are standard but if you know your tyres you will know you can put almost any on as long as they are in pairs. The interior is better than the MK4 in regards to quality and looks, not so grey or brown, more of a pattern styling and softer better shaped seats. It didn't have any gadgets on it such as...
