Citroen C4 Transformer

Advantages: Good styling and plenty of gadgets
Disadvantages: Citroen reputation

...When looking for a car recently I wanted everything and thought I would have to compromise. To my surprise I didn't and I am now the proud owner of this car. Leaving facts and figures aside it's a great looking car, affordable, sporty and packs a turbo diesel punch! It had to be less than £10,000 No more than 3 or 4 years old No more than 20,000 miles on the clock Low fuel consumption Low tax bracket £150 a year max Sporty looks and decent performance Good resale value Plenty of gadgets (I am a bloke after all) Good ride and handling Believe it or not the Citroen C4, specifically the coupe VTS 2.0HDi diesel delivered on all of the above. Citroën has never given buyers in this class a car as good as the C4. The old Xsara - and before that ZX - failed to hit the spot with bland looks and little innovation. But the C4 is...

Grand C4 Picasso Exclusive 2.0HDi Exclusive

Advantages: Versatile, comfortable, gadgets
Disadvantages: EGS system unnerving

...To be exact I have the Grand C4 Picasso 7 seater EGS 2.0HDi Exclusive. I have had this car for a couple of months now and am generally very impressed. On unlocking the vehcile the mirrors move out and the floor adjacent to the car is illuminated by lights in the door mirrors Comfort The seating is very comfortable and has zoned airconditioning and cruise control / speed limiter built in. The EGS system is good for those long haul drives as the driver can relax and concentrate on the road ahead. As stated it can be alarming if you need to accelerate quickly! Inside the car there is a feature called ambient lighting that gives an orange glow from the roof lining and under the dashboard, its nice but a bit gimmicky. The door pockets helpfully light up when you insert your hand. There is a colled compartment on the dashboard suitable...

Dancing Transformer Citroen C4 Car

Advantages: Very Unusual and unique
Disadvantages: none

...PRODUCT BEING ADVERTISED:- --------------------------------------------------- The Citroen C4 Available in Hatchback or Coupe The Citroen advert is famous for the following quote on all the C4 range adverts:--ALIVE WITH TECHNOLOGY There are two different styles of the C4 transformer adverts, which have been produced I am going to detail the both. Advert One- The advert is set in a deserted car park, and begins with a silver transformer style robot doing warm up exercises against a car park pay and display information board. The robot does several different warm up exercises before it suddenly transforms and turns into a Citroen C4 and land in a parking space. Then we get a funky style robotic music start playing from its stereo. Suddenly the Citroen C4 transforms again into a Robot and does a series of groovy...

Citroen C3 HDi

Advantages: Good fuel economy, pretty spacious for a small car
Disadvantages: Seat has poor back support

...I bought a Citroen C3 HDi Desire and have been pretty pleased with it. I travel aound 60 or 70 miles a day so wanted good fuel economy which I've achieved with around 55mpg. The car is fairly spacious inside for a relatively small car and has been reliable so far (6 months). My main gripe is that the seat does not give decent back support. I've therefore bought a lumbar support for £20 which has helped a lot but I think if you're paying £8000+ for a car they could have included lumbar support. The only other niggles is that the cheap plastic trim was not attached properly below the steering wheel and also that there is no closable storage within easy reach of the driver. That means that my loose change (for tolls & car parking fees) either has to be on display (thereby attracting thieves) or hidden away from easy reach....

Citroen Xsara SX 110HDi

Advantages: very economical, good performance, comfortable ride
Disadvantages: depreciation, fuel gauge, unnecessary rattles, build quality

...I've always driven diesel cars, and more to the point French diesel predominantly from Citroen and Peugeot [ntably the same company, PSA Group]. Having traded in my 1.9D Citroen ZX Avantage with 150, 000 miles on the clock, I was really looking forward to my first ever brand new car. My main requirements were safety and economy, two qualities the Citroen Xsara SX 110HDi has plenty of. The engine is great, really responsive and lacks the 'tractor sound and vibration' earlier incarnations of the common rail diesel had. Put your foot down, and it goes some, and more. Road handling/suspension is fine, ride 'comfortable', but what irritated me the most were annoying rattles and problems from the day it was driven out of the showroom. The worst was a widely inccurate fuel gauge [a common problem amoung Citroen Xsara owners...

Ciroen C4 VTR+

Advantages: Toys
Disadvantages: Ride

.... The brakes were designed by a man without any comprehension of physics. Even when bedded in, they dig the front of the car hard into the road, lifting the back to the point that it becomes loose and skittish under hard braking - to trouser filling level at any decent speed. The steering is reasonably responsive and the gear change is smooth and refined, though I wanted a little more feedback from the clutch in truth. Once you get used to all the gadgets and gizmos, as well as the ride, they are ok and you can put them to the back of your mind. What you can't ignore is that woeful 110bhp engine. It requires constant flogging to get anywhere and under 4k revs is just pathetic. Why did Citroen not use the 1.616v out of the Saxo VTS? This is a heavy car with 4 adults and luggage, we will have been tipping 1550kg's and I had to spend time hunting up...

Citroen C5 SX 2.2 HDi

Advantages: Excellent cruiser; Super fuel economy; Powerful engine; Equipment levels
Disadvantages: Difficult to keep clean!!

...I bought my C5 as a replacement for an ageing 406 HDi. Any car I own has to be an excellent cruiser, comfortable and reliable and (touch wood) the C5 has been all of these. In the 5 months I\'ve owned it, I\'ve covered approx 9000 miles. The only costs I\'ve had are a full service and cambelt when I bought it (I always do this with every car I buy) and 4 wheel alignment (car was scrubbing the front tyres). Apart from this - nothing else. The equipment levels of this car are great. The air con is a boon; the c.d. player gives good playback, although the radio reception can be a bit hit and miss at times; the on board computer gives interesting statistics (!); the automatic lights are a boon; automatic wipers are great; the cruise control a God send on long journeys. All in all, it has everything I want and need in a car Another...

A car with a very well thought out interior space

Advantages: Space, Visibility, Design
Disadvantages: None Discovered

...I have now owned a Citroen Picasso for several months now and I can honestly say I have been pleasantly surprised by the cars feel and design. One of the first great features of the Picasso is its interior space and layout. The Picasso has a very large and deep-set windscreen which extends far back into the roof, giving very good visibility on the road. The gear stick is also in a slightly unfamiliar place as it sticks diagonally out of the console just under the radio, this at first is a little unusual but only takes a short time to get used too. The interior is also full of slots, cubby holes, drawers and drinks holders ? more than enough to keep my kids happy over a long journey. The Picasso is very easy to drive and although not blisteringly fast, it has enough poke for zipping around the country roads. Even though the Picasso is...

Clutchless Gearbox on a Diesel - Rare Combination

Advantages: Looks good, plenty of extras, well built, spacious interior, no clutch
Disadvantages: Automatic gearchanges could be better timed

...When looking for a new car back in December 2006, I wanted something which ran on diesel, had a clutchless gearbox (i.e. automatic with paddleshift) and looked good. This combination limits youto a number of manufacturers it seems, and I ended up choosing between a diesel automatic Audi A3 and the Citroen C4 1.6HDi 16V VTR+ Coupe EGS. I chose the Citroen C4 based on the fact that it is better value for money (unsurprisingly) and looks better (I also already have a Citroen Picasso) Design I chose the 3 door version, as it looks much better than the 5 door version (which looks like a Ford Focus), a bit sporty even, and meets my requirements. I chose the "Iron Grey" colour, which I think compliments the car's salmon-esque shape. I don't see many C4s in the South-East of the UK, and it does stand out amongst the usual German marques...

Citroen Xsara 2.0HDi estate

Advantages: Great engine for power and economy, massive boot, bargain 2nd-hand.
Disadvantages: Dull interior, dull image.

...Well, it has done over 90,000 miles now, but the engine remains powerful, the seats supportive and the trim in good condition. Contrary to Citroen's reputation this car has been extremely reliable over the last 5+ years I have owned it, and the dealer's been fair too. Generally underrated, I have driven far newer cars that don't appear to have progressed much at all. Dirt cheap 2nd hand. The best bits are: The strong and economical engine. It shows a clean pair of heels to plenty of surprised Audi/Merc/BMW drivers and I get 40mpg around town, and over 60mpg on motorways. The nice smooth ride, far better than more modern hard-riding cars. It handles well despite the softer ride and the steering has some feel to it. The boot is big for a car of this size, and gigantic with the rear seats folded down. Tyre wear - on average they are...
