Citroen Picasso 1.6i Excellence Petrol

Advantages: A spacious comfortable very well equiped MPV
Disadvantages: A soft ride and seats not the best in the world

...This is the second Picasso I have had, so I must be keen on them! My first was a second hand (15 months old) 1.8 SX but this one is new and is the 1.6i Excellence model. Both models being petrol driven. I find the 1.6i feels smaller , nippier and seems to have more precise steering than the 1.8SX. There have been many reviews detailing the various great features of the Picasso so I will restrict my comments to the "toys" that the Excellence version has. Possibly the most useful thing is the climate control air conditioning. This enables you to select the internal temperature to within 0.5 of a degree. The fan has many progressive settings from gentle waft to cyclonic gale! Next toy is the cruise control. From the steering control one can select a given speed (in 4th and 5th gear). Once selected the car will carry on at this speed...

Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec

Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked

...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs. I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for. I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in. The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair. The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

Citroen Berlingo 1.6HDi Desire - a surprisingly good all rounder!

Advantages: Massive boot space, Frugal engine, Comfortable ride.
Disadvantages: Poor residuals, Engine noise, Styling

Avoid Tax - buy a Picasso

Advantages: Low tax rating with good specs
Disadvantages: Some think Picassos need a makeover now

.... My experience running around the city, is that I can get 36 mpg overall. On a long holiday run of nearly a thousand miles, that average was well over 45mpg. Running costs are minimal - a yearly service at the Citroen supplier averaged £120. Tyres lasted over 3 years, and the battery was also still causing no problems either. I had no other need to go to the garage at any time and never had a breakdown. So, what will it cost.? On the road prices will vary a little around the country, but Citroen's price list suggests that the three cars are priced at £11,250, for the 1.6 petrol, £11,650 for the diesel and £13,150 for the 2.0l automatic. A Canvas for Picasso

Advantages: Space, comfort, cost and fun
Disadvantages: A wee bit thirsty in town; a couple of visibility problems

...Canvassing support for the Picasso from Citroen, is easy work. It is a distinctive car that speaks for itself. The number of reviews, and the positive nature of most of them, makes the point. But let me paint my own picture for you. ( Not a bit sorry for sick puns ! ) My Purchase = I was changing from a Fiat Punto, and unkind commentators may suggest anything would be an improvement.! However, I have had a number of Primeras, Bluebirds, Marinas and such like, so I know the big cars, as well as the small. This Picasso was 6 months old, so nearly new. It was around the £9000 mark, though I wanted alloys and paid for Citroen's own set, which was a few hundred extra. The car is in black, and is the 1.6 Desire edition. My Drive = Squeezing my oversize, 6' 2" frame into any car, tests its interior space...

Ford Focus 1.6 - Shocking!!

Advantages: Handling and Looks
Disadvantages: Customer Service, Bodywork, Transmission...

...Two years ago I decided to buy a brand new car, and after much research I decided upon the Ford Focus 1.6 (old style now). Everything I had read pointed towards a really good choice. So I went into my local Ford dealer and a week later I had my nice new car. First thoughts were a good looking car, well built, fantastically smooth to drive, held the roads amazingly well. All of the equipment worked wonderfully well and I absolutley loved my new car. Then the problems began.... After two weeks the Airbag Modulator failed, so I went back to the dealer, and they replaced the faulty part within a few days. They wouldn't let me have a courtesy cat so was left hanging around the dealers for a few hours. All work was under warranty so no cost to me. Three weeks after the Modulator fault I was washing the car and noticed tiny rust spots...

Advantages: Spacious, big boot, storage space, has its own shopping trolley
Disadvantages: Reflection from angle of windscreen, digital dashboard.

The driving position is good, the clutch is not too heavy, and the steering wheel height is adjustable, the gearstick is mounted on the dashboard so its higher than normal cars, it will take a bit of getting used to but it's alright once your are used to it. ..: Engine :.. My model is an SX so it has fog lamps, CD player and Air Conditioning as standard. The engine is a 1.8l, its top speed is 105mph and it can make 118bhp. The brakes are good as well. The car has power assissted brakes and power steering. It also has an average MPG of 35mpg ..: Storage Space :.. The boot is rather big and strapped to the side of it is a little fold away trolley! There is a pull out tray kind of thing under the drivers seat containing the car's hand book. In the rear of the car, on the floor is two little compartments...

Mt citroen Xsara Picasso

Advantages: Raise the drivers seat up, lots of storage space
Disadvantages: have problems cleaning the roof, or scraping the windscreen if you are short

...I use to own a citroen saxo, and was never going to have a big car, I thrn had a child and my decsion was changed for me, I needed the extra space that the xsara picasso offered. You have the four door bins and a suitable size glove box, as well as the boot space, as do most cars, but when you look in the boot, on the passenger side you will find extra storage hidden, in which I can hide my St john ambulace bomber jacket, and because the boot has no lip, I don't have to lift my childs buggy over, I can slide it in level with my hips. Then in the back on the floor behind both the drivers and passengers seat are another two storage compartments, in which I can keep my car emergencey kit, plus the three seats in the back are all spilt and individual, with their own over the shoulder seat belts, (no lap belts hooray!!) the middle...

...i brought a citroen xsara picasso just after my baby was born as my other car wasnt big enough to get anything else but the pushchair in the boot. i used to have a renault clio which i loved and i was worried about driving a bigger car but there was no need as a picasso is easier to drive and has loads of room in the front and back easy to put the seats down to create more room lots of drinks holders in front and back and i the doors so hopefully no sticky car food trays in the back for the kids easy to use controls and you can view loads of information about how many miles you can do to the petrol already in the tank your average speed how many miles left until a service is due a/c electric windows and mirrors definatley a family car and since purchasing this car i have realised how poular it is and a few of my friends have one too...

A lot of car for the money

...It is now six months since we purchased outr New Citroen Xsara Picasso Desire in metalic dusky lilac and although it hasn't covered that many miles I though it was time to write a review. We wanted a four door car, just for the fact that it they provide easy acess and generally have more boot space. Having test driven many standard 4 door saloons and hatchbacks we heared an advert for the Citroen Xsara Picasso and decided to give one a go. There is not much to say about the exterior is not the sleakest of designs but not MPV is although it is better looking than many of its rivals. The interior is solidly, with plenty of storage room. Each of the door bins can hold a litre bottle, whilst there in an extra compartment in the centre console, however there are no actual cup / mug holders which at times can be frustrating. In...
