Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow
Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none
...I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend.
The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home.
The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep.
We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice.
Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from...

Bristol City Museum = Fantastic Family Fun
Advantages: WARNING- LONG REVIEW. Loads to see and do for adults and kids.
Disadvantages: WARNING LONG REVIEW. Poor disabled facilites and cafe.
...My other half has been on holiday this week, combine that with our 4th anniversary, Mothers day and an in-service day at my sons school it was the perfect opportunity for some good old family fun, among the day trips we took was a visit to Bristol City Museum & Art Gallery. It's a great attraction for us living in Bristol and with free entry it's perfect for our ever expanding family as it doesn't break the bank. Getting to the museum is simple enough for us, as we're local, but the parking is a real problem, being situated in the middle of busy Queens Road, at the top of Park Street, in Clifton, it is near impossible to find a space nearby and we always park in the Frogmore street NCP and walk the 5 minute trip up the road, past the university buildings and into the museum. Bristol City Museum & Art gallery is set in a beautiful baroque...

WORTH STAYING INN - BUT DO EAT OUT
Advantages: Modern, comfortable rooms
Disadvantages: Dreadful bar service - no bath
..., currently available in Bristol, Birmingham and Glasgow (with a fourth outlet due to open soon in London).
WHO WOULD LIKE THE CITY INN
Image-wise, City Inn is quite clearly aiming for the trendies. Contemporary décor and furnishing, city centre locations and fashionable restaurants and cafes are the order of the day, in a bid to attract the young business people who have large amounts of corporate budget to exhaust on a weekly basis. Within Bristol, the choice of hotels has improved massively over the last few years, with the old favourites like Jury?s and Marriott literally struggling to compete. The Bristol City Inn is superbly located, in that it is close to both the M32 (the main road into Bristol) and Temple Meads railway station. Close to the new Temple Gate office development, the Bristol City Inn sits squarely on the main road...

City Inn in de city
Advantages: Clean, modern, fantastic shower, huge bed.
Disadvantages: Small towels, terrible trouser press (aren't they all?)
...If you like your basic hotel room to feature chrome fittings, crisp modern white linen, power shower, satellite TV and a comfy sofa to watch it from, then The City Inn will be right up your street.
Having recently stayed in the Bristol City Inn on a Saturday night (for the average and fairly reasonable £51.50 for a double room), I walked into the room expecting somewhere basic and in true hotel style, lacking any evidence of good taste. However, I was pleasantly surprised, because although fairly straightforward, the room was nicely done, with inoffensive décor and a fresh, new, modern feel. Although this wouldn’t win the establishment any design awards, the atmosphere was light, airy, and more uplifting than a room full of chintz, and yet more thoughtful and comfortable than a den of 80s chrome, harsh colours and stark...

City Inn - a hidden gem.
Advantages: Price, features of room, location
Disadvantages: err... food is a bit bland and pricey
...I think I spend far too much time in hotels, and can be quite demanding. That said, it is with pleasure I report that the City Inn in Birmingham is a hidden gem.
Location
The hotel is located in the trendy Brindley Place development just off Broad Street in Birmingham, and as such is ideally situated for pubbing, clubbing and general merriment and yet being secluded (for a city) enough for a bit of peace and quiet. Brindley Place itself is home to a variety of trendy bars and restaurants including the (in)famous Bank and various luxury apartments. It's a mainly pedestrianised area, and is easily accessible by foot bus or train from New Street station. The majority of other hotels in the area are located directly on Broad Street, which can be quite noisy with the drunken hordes clamouring around after about 10pm. Mind you don't get...

Holiday Inn Bristol (Filton) - Loved it!
Advantages: Great value, staff attitude/professionalism,cleanliness, facilities
Disadvantages: External appearance
...Booked a late deal on the HI website and got a substantial discount on an executive room. Although my wife and I often stay in Bristol, this was the first visit to the Holiday Inn at Filton.
About 3or4 miles from the city centre, the hotel is just off J1 of the m32 and about 1 mile from J19 of the m4. Set in acres of park and woodland the only problem with the hotel is the rather dated exterior which could do with a freshen up.
At initial reception we found the welcome to be genuinely warm and friendly. We received a brief rundown of the hotel facilities and services, and all my questions were answered professionally and with courtesy.
The room was reasonably sized and spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Features included air conditioning, ironing board/iron, trouserpress, minibar, 10 channel tv with pay movies, great bed...

Bristol Museum: Much More Than Boring Old Plates
Advantages: Educational, fun and free.
Disadvantages: Long, long queues until the end of August 2009.
...or taxi if you arrive by train.
Bristol?s City Museum and Art Gallery (to give it its official title) is housed in an Edwardian building in the Baroque style in the Clifton district, a gift to the city from the tobacco baron, Sir William Henry Wills. It sits grandly between the university?s towering Wills Memorial Building and Browns restaurant, which occupies another impressive building; this one being in a combination of Bristol Byzantine and Venetian Gothic Revival styles (loosely based on the Doge?s Palace!) and which was itself once home to the museum. They make a stately trio.
The building dates back to 1905 and the arched entrance on Queen?s Road used to span a driveway that once allowed people to step straight from their carriages into the museum without being troubled by rain on wet days. Only a few years ago glass entrance...

Quality Hotel at Bristol

EXPRESS by HOLIDAY INN (commonly called Holiday Inn Express) at BRISTOL NORTH

The Express by Holiday Inn at Bristol North is situated close to the M4, M5 & M32 motorways and it provides the ideal base to visit Bristol & the West Country. It?s location also makes it a good stopover point for those heading on holiday to destinations further afield. In addition to the good road connections, Bristol Parkway Railway station (with regular connections to London, the Midlands, South Wales and the South West) is only half a mile from the hotel. Bristol Airport is 18 miles away.

Kraking location - Holiday Inn City Centre, Krakow
Advantages: Great location as a base to visit this city, well recommended
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for
...Krakow's airport (Pope John Paul II Airport) which is served from the UK by easyJet and British Airways.
The airport is about 11k from the city and there is a nearby train station from which you can travel cheaply in a journey taking about 15 minutes. I made the mistake of walking from Krakow station to my accommodation (it did not look very far on the map!) and I regretted hauling luggage over cobbled streets. You can get trams or taxis from the railway station readily all over the city.
Krakow is on the banks of the Vistula River and the old part of town is a horseshoe shape with the open end of the horseshoe at the bottom on the river banks (the horseshoe, in fact, is where the old city walls used to be - more about this later).
The Holiday Inn is just outside this horseshoe, only a short distance from the most historic sights...

Come on Inn the hotels lovely...
Advantages: Amazing food, friendly and professional staff, lovely rooms
Disadvantages: £20 cab ride away from airport, sound proofing not as good as it could be
...Location
***********
The City Inn, Glasgow is located at Finnieston Quay, Glasgow, G3 8HN. For anyone unfamiliar with Glasgow this is an area that has been redeveloped in recent years, and is home to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. The area has the feel of somewhere on the up, with big businesses (like SMG) and developments all over, although its not totally there yet, and I'd compare it to the London Docklands 5-10 years ago before all the shops and businesses had moved in.
I now work quite a bit out of our Glasgow office, and so will be staying in Glasgow on a regular basis. The main body of this review covers the first time I stayed there, during mid January 06, with a slight amendment based on my stay last night (7th February)
When I first was told I had to go to Glasgow I discussed the accommodation options...
