Apex City of London Hotel - outstanding
Advantages: Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, modern hotel
Disadvantages: Slightly out of the way of the West End
...We wanted to stay somewhere in central London that was value for money, and found this brilliant hotel for only £69 per night. We booked directly with the hotel itself, and while the system can be a little frustrating the transaction went through smoothly. This was in December 2008, so we didn't expect any decent hotels so close to Christmas to be so cheap. While this hotel is a little out of the way of main attractions it is close to the Tower of London, and to Tower Bridge and easily accessible by bus and tube. On arriving by tube, we found the hotel was alittle bit tricky to find, and were saved only by the fact that by boyfriend's phone has sat-nav!
On arriving we were greeted by friendly and efficeint staff. The entrance to the hotel was modern and swish, befitting a four star hotel with marble and stainless tell everywhere...

City University, expensive and exhausting.
Advantages: good rep, ..... ?
Disadvantages: Expensive, poor facilities, lack of student support, student union,
...I looked at a few Universities, Greenwich, Coventry, Birmingham and City University. Initially I worked out the costs of all the Universities and City/ or Greenwich was the cheapest of them. I'd live at home, commute, and work weekends.
1st problem is that commuting doesn't take the average hour that it used to, especially in the morning, I have commuted befotre at this time but obviously not continuiously throughout the week, boy was I in for a shock. 2 hours each way, if your lucky from Southend to Islington, costs are now £87.50 per week, which rose from £69 per week, which I hadn't realised could happen.
The next is that I visited other Uni's to see what factilities they had and if they were helpful, City came outright the top, next was Greenwich and the others followed. I would have to say I was pleasantly surprised...

Life in the City
Advantages: Being in the heart of London, diversity of its students
Disadvantages: The Union, facilities
...music from South-East Asia, Africa, South America and many more), sound recording (in the University's own professional-standard recording suite), study of music used in the media (films, tv, advertising) and multi-media authoring.
The library at City is good, and of course you are only 10 minutes from the Barbican which houses a fantastic library (as well as one of the best music sections in London). The computer facilities are pretty good too - I never had a problem finding a terminal to work at, and there are some rooms that open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for people burning the midnight oil before their deadline! If you are in University accomodation, all rooms have a data point which enable you to access the university network from the comfort of your own room too, which inclues free internet and email access.
I enjoyed my...

It's a City life!
Advantages: Good repuation
Disadvantages: Union
...I have completed my first year at City University and I am heading into my second year! My experience of City has been overall positive. The year before I did a year at Goldsmiths University and decided it was not right for me and did not go back. Everything that I thought lacked in Goldsmiths for me, I found at City University!
City is a decent university, admittedly not one of the very top but is still respected in its own way.
I stayed at Walter Sickert Halls, and they were enjoyable especially when you make friends obviously. The rooms were very nice; I had a very big room too, much to the envy of my friends! All bedrooms were en suite and they were very nice too. The room was equipped with everything you need; wardrobe, bed, desk, bookshelf and bedside cabinet. I really enjoyed my time at Walter sickert halls, whether its...

Staying in London - City Inn
Advantages: proximity to centre, excellent rooms
Disadvantages: Bar tab in the morning
...When booking a hotel in London for the first time, it's hard to know where to book.
We booked this one knowing it was close to the Tate and also to Westminster (the clue was in the name).
We arrived on a Friday evening and were pleasantly surprised that the street outside looked very safe and that parking was free. Also no congestion charge!
On arrival, our bags were taken and after check in the porter showed us our room. It was a fair size and had a nice bathroom. There was a dvd player, LCD TV, desk with a leather chair and a very large double bed. The bathrooms consisted of both bath and shower and the toiletries were made by the White Company - a decent brand! The hotel room was air conditions with a control ont eh wall to change the setting. Also there was a mini-bar, although a little bit on the pricy side!
After...

London College of Communication - hmm...
Advantages: Very hip, excellent facilities for each subject area, people on the whole very sociable and friendly
Disadvantages: It's in Elephant & Castle!! Not much of a 'community' feel due to it being in London, terrible Freshers arrangements
...the University of Arts incorporates not only LCC but the London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins, and both Chelsea and Camberwell Colleges of Art it is difficult for there to be any feeling even remotely community-like with the exception perhaps of being in halls. However, if you?re looking for an interesting and different-from-the-norm place to study, and perhaps are not too bothered about feeling part of a community and have maybe had experience of a large city environment, then LCC could be for you. Either way, think it through carefully (as, again, I didn?t.) I hope this review has helped you in some way, shape or form.
p.s. Although I have put that I do recommmend the college, it's mainly because they won't let me be indifferent, grr...if I were to reccommend, it would only be to the right person, and so you've basically gotta figure...

London Institute gains University Status.
Advantages: Good student vibe, teaching standard.
Disadvantages: Area slightly run down, some outdated computer equipment
...The London Institute is comprised of five distinguished colleges.
They make up.
Camberwell college of Art and Design.
Central St Martins College.
Chelsea College of Art and Design.
London College of Fashion (LCF)
London College of Printing (LCP)
The London College of Printing is split into five main schools of study. You can study a variety of courses ranging from access courses, BA Hons and Masters. You can study book art, graphics, marketing, management studies and retail. The list goes on.
I have been in attendance at The London College of Printing for almost a year. The college has over 9000 students so there are a few faces.
I am studying Marketing and Advertising at the main site in Elephant & Castle most famously known for it pink shopping centre erected in the 70s. Although the area is slightly run down there...

London College of Fashion
Advantages: Free form teaching
Disadvantages: No university experience
...When I was in high school, the thought of University was really really far off. It had been built into this great thing, an opportunity for me to really develop to my full potential. I would meet a wide range of people, find my own niche perhaps and learn about all the things that my high school couldn't or wouldn't teach us. After a severe process of application through UCAS and exams and acceptances ( and rejections ofcourse ) I finally chose to go to the one school I applied to outside of UCAS : The London College of Fashion. I thought that it would give me everything that a conventional university wouldn't, so instead of going to Bristol or Durham which I probably should have, I made a somewhat " distinguished" choice, I guess you could say.
The London College of Fashion is part of the London Institute ( which is comprised of 5...

I believe I can fly ...... TO LONDON !!!
Advantages: Location, Variety of Shops & Restaurants, Public Transport Links
Disadvantages: Expensive Bars, Limited Flights,
...Before I get too carried away with this review let me warn you that this does go on for quite a while. However, I feel it only fair that you are all made fully aware of the facilities on offer at London City Airport
I had cause to travel to London last week with business from Manchester to attend a seminar within the financial district. Upon being told this by my manager with about 2 weeks notice, I was faced with the dilemma of arranging my travel itinery. Effectively, I was faced with 3 options:
1. Drive, which didn't exactly fill me with excitement at the thought of a 600 mile round trip to attend a 4 hour seminar.
2. Get the train, which once again was a two and a half hour journey in both directions, plus associated tube journeys. Another downside to this alternative was the astronomical fares which were charged...

LIfe @ my uni
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...I am currently a second year student at city university - This is definitely a university for those who want the vibrant town life and arent looking for a campus university - Although the uni has a small student union the amount of vibrant nightlife in the surrounding area makes up for this fact. The university itself provides a very good base to go onto a job and the employment service is excellent - However, be warned this uni is for hard working students if you play hard you must be prepared to work hard! You must be broad minded to attend this uni with people from many different backgrounds which often help enhance this uni's reputation for friendliness wioth many of these different cultures mixing in with each other....
