A Central Location, Ideal For Exploring London
Advantages: Reasonable deals on rooms, good facilities, nice spacious rooms, central location
Disadvantages: Prices of the extra items such as breakfast
...managed to get the room for £79 per night, but the breakfast was still extra. The reason I got it so much cheaper was because I guaranteed I would use the room. In other words there was no option to cancel the room and I was committed to paying for it whether I turned up or not. While this may not be ideal for some I knew we'd be there that weekend so it wasn't much of a risk. There are a couple of other deals including a cheaper price for a room with Breakfast, £109 or £89 without but as I knew we'd be there it was worth getting the extra £20 off our stay and using that for something else.
The hotel is located on Southwark Bridge Road, around about a 5 minute walk from London Bridge tube station and about 10 minutes from Southwark tube station. Once we got out of London Bridge station it was nice and easy to find using the directions...

Apex City of London Hotel - outstanding
Advantages: Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, modern hotel
Disadvantages: Slightly out of the way of the West End
...We wanted to stay somewhere in central London that was value for money, and found this brilliant hotel for only £69 per night. We booked directly with the hotel itself, and while the system can be a little frustrating the transaction went through smoothly. This was in December 2008, so we didn't expect any decent hotels so close to Christmas to be so cheap. While this hotel is a little out of the way of main attractions it is close to the Tower of London, and to Tower Bridge and easily accessible by bus and tube. On arriving by tube, we found the hotel was alittle bit tricky to find, and were saved only by the fact that by boyfriend's phone has sat-nav!
On arriving we were greeted by friendly and efficeint staff. The entrance to the hotel was modern and swish, befitting a four star hotel with marble and stainless tell everywhere...

City University, expensive and exhausting.
Advantages: good rep, ..... ?
Disadvantages: Expensive, poor facilities, lack of student support, student union,
...I looked at a few Universities, Greenwich, Coventry, Birmingham and City University. Initially I worked out the costs of all the Universities and City/ or Greenwich was the cheapest of them. I'd live at home, commute, and work weekends.
1st problem is that commuting doesn't take the average hour that it used to, especially in the morning, I have commuted befotre at this time but obviously not continuiously throughout the week, boy was I in for a shock. 2 hours each way, if your lucky from Southend to Islington, costs are now £87.50 per week, which rose from £69 per week, which I hadn't realised could happen.
The next is that I visited other Uni's to see what factilities they had and if they were helpful, City came outright the top, next was Greenwich and the others followed. I would have to say I was pleasantly surprised...

Life in the City
Advantages: Being in the heart of London, diversity of its students
Disadvantages: The Union, facilities
...I studied at City for 3 years, and have to say I enjoyed my time there very much. It was very daunting at first - arriving as a fresher, first time away from home, family & friends into a pretty harsh looking concrete jungle.
I spent my first year in halls (Finsbury Hall) which was definitely the rigth decision. Although the rooms are nothing to write home about, and neither is the 'meals' provided for those with catered accommodation, the social aspect, location and relative cheapness of rent more than makes up for it! Located just off Goswell Road, you are around 5-10 minutes walk from the main part of the University, about 30 minutes walk to Oxford street and the West End, and with some of London's most famous landmarks are within 20 minutes walk (St. Pauls, the Guildhall, the Thames).
Needless to say, being in London...

Staying in London - City Inn
Advantages: proximity to centre, excellent rooms
Disadvantages: Bar tab in the morning
...When booking a hotel in London for the first time, it's hard to know where to book.
We booked this one knowing it was close to the Tate and also to Westminster (the clue was in the name).
We arrived on a Friday evening and were pleasantly surprised that the street outside looked very safe and that parking was free. Also no congestion charge!
On arrival, our bags were taken and after check in the porter showed us our room. It was a fair size and had a nice bathroom. There was a dvd player, LCD TV, desk with a leather chair and a very large double bed. The bathrooms consisted of both bath and shower and the toiletries were made by the White Company - a decent brand! The hotel room was air conditions with a control ont eh wall to change the setting. Also there was a mini-bar, although a little bit on the pricy side!
After...

It's a City life!
Advantages: Good repuation
Disadvantages: Union
...I have completed my first year at City University and I am heading into my second year! My experience of City has been overall positive. The year before I did a year at Goldsmiths University and decided it was not right for me and did not go back. Everything that I thought lacked in Goldsmiths for me, I found at City University!
City is a decent university, admittedly not one of the very top but is still respected in its own way.
I stayed at Walter Sickert Halls, and they were enjoyable especially when you make friends obviously. The rooms were very nice; I had a very big room too, much to the envy of my friends! All bedrooms were en suite and they were very nice too. The room was equipped with everything you need; wardrobe, bed, desk, bookshelf and bedside cabinet. I really enjoyed my time at Walter sickert halls, whether its...

I believe I can fly ...... TO LONDON !!!
Advantages: Location, Variety of Shops & Restaurants, Public Transport Links
Disadvantages: Expensive Bars, Limited Flights,
...for travelling back on a Friday during rush hour. Bearing in mind my seminar was not due to finish until 2:00pm it would have been impossible for me to catch a return train before 3.30 pm from London. Unless I could catch a return train either before 3.00pm or after 6.30 pm this arrangement would have cost me an unbelievable £170. Otherwise I could have travelled for the bargain price of £60. If I had to pay for it myself I may have thought about the cheaper option and getting the later train, but as this wouldn't have got me home till approximately 10pm it wasn't really a feasible option.
3. Fly, but surely there isn't an airport close enough to the City to make this worthwhile. WRONG. London City Airport is conveniently located just x miles from the centre of London and is easily served by a reliable public transport link. After...

London College of Communication - hmm...
Advantages: Very hip, excellent facilities for each subject area, people on the whole very sociable and friendly
Disadvantages: It's in Elephant & Castle!! Not much of a 'community' feel due to it being in London, terrible Freshers arrangements
...the University of Arts incorporates not only LCC but the London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins, and both Chelsea and Camberwell Colleges of Art it is difficult for there to be any feeling even remotely community-like with the exception perhaps of being in halls. However, if you?re looking for an interesting and different-from-the-norm place to study, and perhaps are not too bothered about feeling part of a community and have maybe had experience of a large city environment, then LCC could be for you. Either way, think it through carefully (as, again, I didn?t.) I hope this review has helped you in some way, shape or form.
p.s. Although I have put that I do recommmend the college, it's mainly because they won't let me be indifferent, grr...if I were to reccommend, it would only be to the right person, and so you've basically gotta figure...

London College of Fashion
Advantages: Free form teaching
Disadvantages: No university experience
...When I was in high school, the thought of University was really really far off. It had been built into this great thing, an opportunity for me to really develop to my full potential. I would meet a wide range of people, find my own niche perhaps and learn about all the things that my high school couldn't or wouldn't teach us. After a severe process of application through UCAS and exams and acceptances ( and rejections ofcourse ) I finally chose to go to the one school I applied to outside of UCAS : The London College of Fashion. I thought that it would give me everything that a conventional university wouldn't, so instead of going to Bristol or Durham which I probably should have, I made a somewhat " distinguished" choice, I guess you could say.
The London College of Fashion is part of the London Institute ( which is comprised of 5...

Shop and dine at Universal City Walk!
Advantages: Great fun and things to do after a long day in the theme park
Disadvantages: Not as good as Downtown Disney
...What is it??
Universal City Walk is located at Universal Orlando in Florida, USA and is Universal's answer to the Downtown Disney complex at Walt Disney World. It is nowhere near as large as Downtown Disney, but nevertheless offers a ranges of shops, dining and entertainment experiences to keep you busy after a day in the two Universal theme parks.
Universal City Walk is located between the two theme parks (Universal Florida and the new Islands of Adventure). If you walk out of either theme park you can't miss it!!
Shopping
There are quite a variety of shops here that are interesting to browse around and buy from, but as with shops at Walt Disney World, you won't find too many bargains!!
Some of my favourites are as follows:
Silver sells a great range of jewellery for both men and women
Fossil is the famous watch...
