...I have recently taken out a mortgage on a house and therefore needed to take out life insurance. Having never done this before I decided to shop around. Taking the advice of friends I asked for quotes from Norwich Union as I had been told they were reasonably cheap. Having amassed a collection of quotes I found that yes they were able to offer the cheapest service for me. That is until I read that Tesco had started offering Life Insurance services too. Their Life Insurance is underwritten by Norwich Union and offers a 16 per cent discount on the Norwich Union prices. So basically you get the same product but cheaper. The lowest monthly charge is 5 pounds so if you can find cheaper than that then you are doing well but I found that this was a pound or so cheaper than the other companies I contacted....

The fastest insurance claim - EVER

Advantages: The cheapest by far, fast, efficient, friendly.
Disadvantages: The wait on the claimline.

...I am writing this opinion in a state of shock, not at how useless and slow this company is, (which is the usual scenario), but how fast, efficient and friendly they are. I have had my buildings and contents insurance with NU Direct for the past couple of years. I shopped around a little and found them to be the cheapest for the level of cover I need (£32 per month for a 4 bedroomed house). I have had insurance claims in the past which all seem to run along the same lines, ie., report to police (if theft or loss), request a claim form, fill in with crime number, send off, wait arounds six weeks. Then you will recieve either a replacement or cash value of items claimed. Pretty straightforward, although 6 weeks is not to fast it's a reasonable amount of time to wait. To date Mampi Swift has been to the vets, for sensitive skin which was due to an allergic reaction to some additives in his dog food. Vet fees £240 as it took three visits to the vets to find what was causing the reaction and to clear it up with the medication. The insurance paid up within three weeks of the claim, we had to pay the first £50 excess. He was loves to chew twigs and wood and when visiting a friends house who has bamboo in their garden he couldn?t resist having a nibble at a piece that had snapped off in the winds and was on the floor, I?m not sure why but this made him sick for a few days, so another trip to the vets at £85 was claimed. Better than life insurance!

Advantages: Detangles, leaves hair soft and shiny, smells divine!
Disadvantages: There must be one!

I recently had my hair streaked with blonde which I think looks fab! However the coloured treatment combined with the fact that I have really fine hair means my hair is a nightmare to comb through after Ive washed it. Miracle hair insurance is my saviour! You just spritz it through your hair after youve washed and towel dried it. This will work great for you if you have normal hair, but as mine is so tangly I use a regular conditioner first in the shower and spritz this on as well after Ive towel dried it. ...so irritated with me for not having a decent car to take clients out in, i had to go and buy another, so now i'm stuck with 2 BMWs, one of which is can't be used, and it's costing me a fortune. What makes me really mad, was when i bought the second car, Privilege had told me my car was going to be a write off. Privilege have given me little over £1000 in compensation, which is an insult, i have been left £5000 out of pocket because of their lack of communication and incompentance. I won't settle for that. At the moment the Financial Ombudsman is investigating, if they can't do anything, I shall go to the small claims court. To top it all off, someone ran up the back of my new BMW last week, luckily it isn't insured with Privilege!!!...

Advantages: A great company to deal with.
Disadvantages: None.

...out with a £50 excess which means that if the vet bill comes to £50 or less I pay it myself but if say for instance it was £150 then I would pay £50 and Direct Line would cover the other £100. For this policy to cover 1 cat I paid £6.99 per month and this covered my cat up to £2500 in any 12 month period, Direct Line also cover having your pet looked after should you be taken into hospital or become too ill to look after it yourself. This policy that I had also acted as a life insurance policy should the animal be involved in an accident and it also covered lots of other little bits and pieces too but as there are lots of different policies available you will need to check the small print of your particular policy to know exactly what you are and are not covered for. When it comes to making claims it could not be any easier...
