Advantages: Look nice and work well.
Disadvantages: Smell strongly and be careful if you have dogs.

Advantages: Excellent petrol, good range of services like airpumps/vacuums etc at most stations

...Hmmm... so many people are dubious about buying from shell because of many reasons, however i am uncertain about where i stand in those questions so i'm not going into those, perhaps another day. What i'm reviewing here is the petrol stations, the shops, the service and the quality of petrol. I drove a Mk2 VW Golf (H-reg), which has done just over 100,000 miles (under average) - it ran ok when i bought it a few years ago, but used to not start every time and misfire when idleing. I started going to Shell in Cambridge (Trumpington) because it was near to my workplace and when i drove in (usually in the rain!) it was conveniant to fill up there. I also opened a Pluspoints scheme, which is pretty rubbish - but over time i thought it would bring benifits. The service at the station is average/good, they usually are fairly chatty...

Disadvantages: Questionable benefits. Probably better with Sainsburys ot Tesco's loyalty cards

...I used to be a great advocat of the old loyalty card system, particuarly when I benefited financialy from it. However, things have gone somewhat wrong for the Shell Smartpoints system. I have had nothing but problems since their change from the old system of what they termed as "smart points" to what they now laughingly call "Plus points". If you wish to contact the company do not try the email. It simply is not replied to, The other problem that crops up is the syndrome of "It's not really out department, You need to speak to . . ." which is a link to drive you insane after you have gone the same route dozens of times. From the 6th July this year you could no longer use "Smart Points". They implied they would be changed and redeemed for the same "Pluspoints" and to the same value. It is Heinz for Weight Watchers and is in their familiar purple labelled can. It counts as 4.5 points on the WW diet and also as 2 portions of fruit and veg which is what the governments guidelines are, so all you would have to eat is another 3 portions to get you up to your daily fruit and veg quota of 5 per day.
