Advantages: No oiliness, kind on eyes, attractive packaging Disadvantages: A little too mild, didn't remove all my eye make up
...I bought this product a little while ago. I wanted something quick and easy that would effectively remove my eye make up but that was also quite gentle, since some eye make removers make your eyes sting! I have used Clarins products in the past and have found them to be effective, so I thought that I would give this 'Instant Eye Make-Up Remover' a try.
The bottle is a simple and attractive design. It is an oval shaped, plastic bottle with a screw top lid. The lid is white with a silver coloured rim, which adds a nice bit of bling! The plastic is a frosted colour, and you can easily see though to the liquid inside.
The make up remover has two layers in it, it looks really cool in the bottle! There is a blue layer on the bottom and a clear layer on top, and you have to shake the bottle before you use it so that these two layers mix...
Advantages: Low price, gets rid of makeup easily, lasts a while Disadvantages: Stings your eyes a little bit
...AVON Conditioning eye makeup remover lotion
I have been an Avon representative for nearly a year now, and in this time I think I have nearly spent more than I've earned - it's too tempting not to buy anything myself and when I'm always trying to convince other people to buy the products I'm usually the one who gets convinced! I bought this makeup remover lotion not too long ago, probably about three months back. The main reasons I bought it was because I run out of face wipes really quickly, so I thought this would last longer and also because it was a low price at around only £1.50. I couldn't resist so ordered myself one with the next campaign.
When the bottle arrived in the box with the rest of the ordered products for the campaign it looked exactly like it does in the brochure and I wasn't surprised at all about the size...
Advantages: Keeps make-up looking fresh all day or night, perfect for brightening up tired skin. Disadvantages: Quite pricey at £18, not for everyday use.
...I am a self confessed label junkie when it comes to make up and beauty products but as I'm a student I have to make sure products do what they say, last a long time and are good value even if they are expensive; I can honestly say that Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is probably my most loved product and is a staple in my make-up box.
Clarin's is one of the brands where the 'pay for what you get' saying is the absolute truth. The Flash Balm is packed full of natural ingrediants and is suitable for the most sensitive of skins (which mine is).
The recommended application is once to twice a week and it can be used as a fine layer under make-up or as a thick layer left on for 15 mins. Personally I go for the fine layer under make-up whenever I've got to look my best and want my make-up to last.
For best application, and I've had advice...
Advantages: Blends well, isn't heavy, protects against sun related skin damage Disadvantages: Can get water-y (separates), expensive, middling coverage
...It wouldn't be unfair to say that I'm a bit of a guy in disguise - I live in jeans, read (and watch) science fiction, have never understood the cult of celebrity, don't watch reality TV, and, more to the point, rarely wear makeup.
Oh, I occasionally use cover up (as I'm a terrible picker, and can never leave a spot alone), but don't often go the full foundation-to-mascara route. However, I have recently been attending job interviews, and so have piled the slap on (ok, that's a slight exaggeration) in my quest to impress. Therefore, the first thing I apply is foundation.
Because I'm not much of a make-up wearer, I don't want a heavy foundation - I don't want to look like a clown in the circus. Last time I went to buy make-up, I therefore went to the Clinque counter and asked for advice (I only ever buy make up when there are freebies...
Advantages: Great for tired skin and also can be used as an intensive moisture face pack Disadvantages: if you rub the cream instead of allowing to absorb into your skin it will flake
...Clarins Beauty Flash Balm has now become one of my make up ritual musts.
It did exaclty what it promised and gave my skin an instant lift. I tried it around the eye area without any problems regarding sensitivity and also took the manufacturers advise of using it as an intense overnight face rehydrating mask, here I feel it needs to be used on a more consistant basis to see any visible results!
It has a great natural plant smell and absorbs fairly quickly into the skin. The only downside being that if you apply your make up too soon afterwards it flakes, so do allow to absorb fully!
My two older daughters also use Beauty Flash Balm as they find it a great skin boost after late nights! They also buy there own now after having had more than one dressing down for taking mine!
Finally it is great to see a skincare product...
Advantages: Cheap, it works Disadvantages: Stings very occasionally
...the bottle (loads in my case, I use it maybe twice a week, but after a year am only about a third of the way down the bottle). The brand name is written in silver lower-case letters, then the product name is beneath that in red upper-case letters. The product promises are written in green capitals, and there is a green leaf next to the brand name as well as a green circle with a tick cut out of it, surrounded by the words 'dermatologically tested'.
In one bottle there is 150ml, and as I said before, this has lasted me for ages and ages. I use two cotton wool pads each time I remove my eye make-up, one per eye, and usually use the product 2-3 times a week. Obviously, the more regularly you use it, the quicker it will go down (sorry, that sounds silly, I just mean that I can't vouch for how long it will last for each individual because everyone...
Advantages: Does not interfere with natural moisture balance, good coverage, glowing skin Disadvantages: Hard to match colour, may require setting with powder
...suggests to me that the bottle is likely to withstand a lot of wear and tear. Is has a simple silver screw top lid which looks nice.
The product is called superbalanced foundation as it is recommended for many different skin types and is particularly good for combination skin. I have mainly dry skin, which some oily patches. I have often found that some foundations can make me feel oily around the nose and T-zone area, whilst being dry and flaky in others. I have to say that this foundation was the answer to my problems!
It glides on well and provides a good level of coverage. The dry areas of my skin felt moisturised, whilst the oily parts felt fine too. My only minor criticism is that it can come off onto clothes a little too easily for my liking, but this is easily solved by adding some pressed power to 'set' the foundation...
Advantages: Good at removing waterproof mascara, gentle to eyes. Disadvantages: Cost, slightly oily on skin
...I had been struggling for some time to find an eye make-up remover that would remove my waterproof mascara easily without irritating my eyes. Having tried a few different products which were cheap but which weren't very successful I decided to go to my local department store and visit the Clarins counter. I have bought several products from Clarins and really liked them. They are expensive but they are lovely to use. I had a sample of the eye make-up remover before and it was effective but it was the cost that had put me off buying it before. However having been unable to obtain a suitable cheaper alternative I decided I would go and buy it.
The lady at the counter explained that they made two eye make-up removers and the one she recommended for me was the heavy make-up remover as this was good at removing waterproof mascara...
...Nivea Visage Extra Gentle Eye Make -up Remover....
I wear soft contact lenses everyday and after using a few make up removers that left my eyes feeling irradiated and sore I decided on buying an extra gentle make-up remover and perusing the shelves in Boots I came across this one made by Nivea Visage.
It was a reasonable price at £3.39 pence for a good 125ml sized bottle. The design of the bottle is fairly average and just buy looking you can tell it is not an expensive product. It is quite a chunky design which means it stands up well on my dressing table and the lid which is a flip top pops open easily and clicks to seal very well.
The liquid inside the bottle is clear although the bottle itself is tinted blue giving the impression that the liquid inside is this blue colour. The Extra Gentle Eye Make-up Remover is really...
Advantages: It's gentle Disadvantages: Doesn't remove eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, have to rub hard
...When it comes to eye makeup remover, I'm not after a miracle product - just one that works but is gentle on the eyes as I can suffer from quite sensitive eyes which are easily irritated by lotions and potions. So when my sample of Lancome Bi Facil ran out I opted for L'oreal's Gentle Eye Make Up Remover, sold by the 'gentle' tag in the title and the attractive price tag of £2.68 for 125ml. It's enriched with Pro-Vitamin and promises to gently and effectively remove makeup, as well as refreshing the skin. It is suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
Packaging is simple - a short, stubby bottle with a flip top lid which is actually quite stiff and difficult to open. Strike one...
The liquid is a pale blue and very thin, the texture of water, and has a light refreshing scent. To use, you simply apply to a cotton pad...
